This is interesting because there are some Afol's here that really liked the Elves line including myself and have several sets. I think a lot of the complaints with the friends line is the animal molds being to cartoony and they don't fit in with the city or regular system lego. Also the minidolls aren't as customizable as minifigs so there is some complaints about that. I do find that friends have some nice parts and some of the animals are ok. This just isn't a theme I am personally interested in but do find that it works really well for their target demographic. Anything that brings new parts and colors is a plus in my opinion. Those people you speak of are probably just a few that don't have anything better to do I wouldn't worry to much. As I've said in the past you can't please everyone. I really enjoy castle/fantasy and there a lot of fans not happy until recently with blacksmith shop and the 3in1 castle about lego's willingness to make castle sets. But I've actually found interesting parts and minifigs in other themes to fill in the several year gap between castle sets. Like I said before Elves had some nice dragons and parts. I even have the Elvenstar tree really nice build. I take a lot from Ninjago and Monkie kids especially the dragons and a lot of the figs are useful. Even some of the super hero stuff especially the Marvel side has great figs that can be used for customization for fantasy like green goblin, outriders, chitauri, sakarran, atlanteans, etc. Harry Potter even has some great elements and figs. I know from what I've seen many don't seem to mind friends theme at all I think more of the complaints are with the friendified animals and the lack of overall customization and moveability of the minidolls. There are some nice minidolls from the elves line unfortunately I don't have those figs. But I really think it's a small number of people you are encountering that probably post a lot more often.

I agree with all the Ninjago sets but one, Heavenly realms and the 90th anniverary castle August is going to kill me.

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
zoth33 replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Yeah some sets are expensive. This year looks like I'm going to have to prioritize sets and pieces off of pick a brick because there are so many large and expensive sets I want this year. It really comes down to the build and the minifigs. Definitely picking up Heavenly Realms and a bunch of the ninjago sets, The Hungarian horntail and maybe another HP set, and of course the castle coming this year. I'm really hoping that pick a brick comes back up so we can get the farm animals and pieces we need.- 2,976 replies

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
zoth33 replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Your comparing a licensed set to this which has no bearing. The star wars are licensed and the stuntz sets have new pricey molds. The MK sets seem to have leveled out in price with the new wave especially the Heavenly realms set but will have to see with prices of a smaller set. There is no way it's only 2000 parts, I hope you are being sarcastic. I'm hoping the figs have the quality of the new ninjago sets and a great looking castle with some horses like the good old days.- 2,976 replies

Great idea. I'm just happy for the recolor. The Monkie kid Heavenly realms set has some great figs. The new crown piece and the new print for the monkey king are great. The whole set looks wonderful and will look great next to Flower fruit mountain. Groot looks like he could be used as a terrifying troll or something of that sort. -
I really love this wave. The Crystal King looks fantastic. I will be getting the whole wave I think at this point maybe leave out the mech. The dragon ninja are great. These pieces are going to make for some great customizable figs too.

You really need to Flower Fruit mountain is such a great set. The Heavenly realms set looks great. Hopefully I will have enough money to buy all these sets I want between Ninjago, HP, SW, and the upcoming 90th anniversary set this year is going to be so expensive. Plus hopefully pick a brick will be back up to get some of the new animals or otherwise I'm buying the farm sets too.

Yeah neither do I. My youngest son wants to go to legoland in NY this year. Our summer is pretty busy so will have to wait and see if we can make it out there. -

The Ninjago sets have some great parts especially the villains headpiece, Lloyds golden oni mask, and the previously known dragon wing on the minifigs. Also the dragon head on the ninjas masks is nice. There is a hare recolor in the city set. The city animal rescue set also has the flying owl and a baby panther and crocodile. Mickey's castle set could have a nice torso from mickey its hard to see. The Ninjago 4+ set has some dragon wings and a recolor on a dragon head. It looks ok. -

The farm animals look great. I'll probably wait and see if they will come out on pick a brick and see what the prices are. That new corn piece looks great. I like the brown chickens I just wish they did other colors too, two chickens is not enough for a chicken coop and where is the rooster?. -

The torso is very nice. If I have time tomorrow I will stop at the lego store and see if the wizard and the knight torso are there.- 2,976 replies

It seems to be real and in the BAM in a lego store. It would be interesting to have red black falcons that is the new falcon sigil. -
These sets sound interesting. I'm still going to get the evil monkey mech from the latest wave. Can't wait to see picks for the sets.

The viking torsos look great. And as said before the winged/hair piece is wonderful. The wizard print is going to be a very nice addition to my collection with some nice details on the print. I hope the viking torsos come out on pick a brick. Looks like I may have to check out my local lego stores this week. I will probably pick up at least one of the viking set, I like the builds. With this set and the Thor goat boat will make a good year for ships and the pirate ship from last year there is no shortage for ship pieces. -

I did like the Nexo Knight villains, Moltor was great. Some of the knights armor I have used as enchanted armor for some of my figs. I did like some of the sets. My youngest son has Jestro's volcano lair and really likes that set and liked the theme and the show.- 2,976 replies

And we get a nice variety of figs too. I agree with you about the old vikings line having to many bionicle parts. The dragon for me was just weird and looked out of place with the old viking sets as I have the red dragon. Lego has come a long way with their builds and dragons. -
10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
zoth33 replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
But this does tell lego that there is a very good market for castle based sets. This shows them we still want castle/fantasy sets and that there is definitely money to be made there which should help to show that Lego can produce these types of sets and they will sell well. The 90th anniversary set was voted on by past themes so we know what they mean by castle there is no guessing here. This is not a new big bang theme like Nexo Knights. I think you can be assured that this will be classic castle based but with new techniques like creator has done. If a new castle theme is to come I personally think it will be in a few years as they will need time to develop and create sets and possibly a story to it.- 2,976 replies

Yes the black parrot and the grey parrot were definitely interesting to use as different birds. The hair piece with the winged crown is really nice piece. I got the minifig pack with Thor, Valkyrie, and Korg. The Korg fig is great and the can be used for many things like an ogre or possibly an orc fig. Valkyrie is a great fig also great for warriors. There is a new Ninjago poster and the villain weapons look good can't wait to see pics of the sets. -

We do have the crow from the scarecrow hat from the cmf. We do need an actual raven we could attach to a stud though. Lego has been doing a lot of animals and birds so it's plausible to see a raven/crow soon. A falcon would be nice to have also. -

I think we have mohst if not all the parts we need to make this set great. We have several different helms, weapons, utensils that will be used in this set. There may be some recolors of bricks. Really hoping for a new barding. I'm sure we will get some nice minifig prints.- 2,976 replies
