42055 - Bucket Wheel Excavator

No worries there. Being a good few years past 20 I felt I was OK to preorder all the 2H sets Might be a while before they get built though -

It's the same for all the 2H sets along with warnings that these sets are not suitable for children under 20-30yrs old. Amazon states that the Porsche can't be bought by anyone under 16. Why? -

Just seen this on Amazon.co.uk As you can see below, the decription is for an Angry Birds set. Can't help thinking that the age advice could put a few buyers off though -

Thank you for your get well wishes. I think it's fair to say the 8880 is a very popular choice. I've just watched the video and found it very interesting, I'll definately be watching the rest of the episodes. It was very thoughtful of you to send it. Thank you. -

Thank you. I hoped the v2 Pneumatics hose connections would make it easier to connect the hoses. As I recall, those on the 8110 were a nightmare. -

Thank you for your good wishes. The 8880 is proving to be a very popular choice. The enthusiasm of those wanting to see it built makes the anticipation of building it all the greater. Thank you. I don't think you need to apologise for not liking the 8880. I would think a good many people probably share you view. We like what we like. It'd be a very boring world indeed if we all liked the same things. The 8258 is indeed a great set. It's a special set to me as it was the first Technic set I ever built and one I very much look forward to building again one day. The 42043 looks a great set & from what I've watched on Youtube, one I'll enjoy building. Not too sure how much enjoyment fitting all those hoses will be though -

Thank you all so much for your good will comments, PMs and emails. Your kindness means a very great deal to both Gilly and myself. I'm reminded of what I said within days of joining the Eurobricks community: This is, without doubt, the friendliest place on the whole 'net. Over the next few days I'm going to give building in bed a try and hopefully I'll get on OK. I'll just have to be careful where any runaway pieces end up Keep the build requests coming and I'll have count up once my leg's sorted out. Sometime this week I'll be getting a friends video footage (all 18GB of it!) from his 3 months in Guyana to edit. This usually takes 5-6 weeks so I may be better getting it done & out of the way so when I do start getting up and resume building I'll have no distractions. Once again, thank you all for your kind words & wishes. -

Thank you all for your very kind comments. Thank you also for your requests for my next build which looks likely to be the 8880. With this next build in mind, a slight problem has occurred that'll delay me starting said build. It's just been discovered that during my recent operation my leg was broken. This has left me with my leg splinted, needing to be kept straight and me confined to bed for at the next 6-8 weeks. Before now I've not tried building while being in bed but will certainly give it a go. All being well, I'll get on OK and will be building again soon. If not I'll have wait for serveral weeks. I appreciate your patience. -

Thank you Edwin. It seems the 8880 is gaining a few late votes. It's starting to look like the 8880 might just be my next build. Thank you but the 8880 has been getting some late votes. So I keep being told Thank you but the 8880... As I have to end this sometime I'll count any requests recieved until 9pm(UK) Sunday. -

Build Day 6 - Days build time 4hrs 30mins / Total build time 25 hrs 45mins Do to a spell in hospital it's been a few days since I last was able to do any building so it's good to be able to get back too it today. As you can see from the pictures, the VW Camper's finished and, in my opinion, looks very good indeed. The only small criticism I have is the gap under the wedge piece on the front of the windscreen frame, it's a bit too obvious. This build, like that of the Mini, has been relatively straightforward with thankfully only a few frustrations along the way but in all,it's been never anything but very enjoyable. Anyway that's enough from me, here are today's photos. As I've gotten to the end of the VW build it's time to have a count up of the requests for my next build. Thank you to those of you that submitted a request. If my counting up is correct this is the tally: 42043 3 8880 3 8258 2 42042 1 8109 1 8274 1 As it seems we have a tie I guess it's down to me to choose which of the tied two I'll build next. I think I'll build the... -

I'm loving this thread. There's some really great tiny Mocs posted here and as we've had everything from machinery to animals and even food I thought I'd add my two pennies worth and post tiny moc of a person, Victoria Beckham. Those with a keen eye will notice that this is a pre-enhancement Victoria. -

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. That's the second time today something I've written has received 'praise' . Thank you. It's been a very strange day! -

Thank you. I never thought I'd hear anything I wrote described as interesting. You've made my day If the truth be told I'd guess a good many builders are guilty of not taking notice of what they build. I'm lucky, not being able to build quickly gives me time to take in and enjoy the work of the designer. -

Build Day 5 - Days build time 6hrs 45mins / Total build time 22 hrs 35mins Evening All Progress has been good and, considering how difficult I anticipated some areas would be, surprisingly swift today. It's been one of those days when everything went as planned, well mostly everything. Suffice to say I'll not be applying to be a LEGO curtain fitter any time soon. Boy O boy they were tough to fit. After trying most of the building 'tools' in my ever increasing arsenal it took a cake tester (the long thin wire type used for checking whether cakes are properly cooked) to ease them on, took an hour to do all six. More of the sets details have become apparent today. Besides the cupboard under the sink, plant, drinking glass, lamp etc., today cubby holes, a poster and t-shirt hanging in the window have appeared. There should have been a mirror above the towel rail but my set, although brand new, had no mirrored sticker. I've contacted LEGO for a replacement. I think it's going to be a job to fit though as the window it's to be stuck on is quite heavily built around. If the next building day goes as well as today I might, just might get this finished. I too wondered where I was for a while This set has got some nice details the lamp being my least favorite as I keep knocking it off! It's off now until the build's finished. -

Thank you Edwin. It's really good to be back building. I've just an hour or so going through the instruction book planning tomorrow's building and noticed a few areas where it looks like it could get a bit frustrating or as you put it, fun. -

Build Day 4 - Days build time 5hrs 45mins / Total build time 15hrs 50mins After a few days away in the care of the NHS I'm very pleased to be back home and building. Today's been a good day with nearly 6 hours of building time so I've managed to get a good bit done with no real problems, just the odd frustration but nothing worth writing about. As you can see from the photos of the build so far, the interior of this model has some great details. Recline seats, one that turns into a bed, the sink with cupboard underneath and the 'shelves' mounted to the inside of a door. Personally, I think the designer surpassed himself with this one.
