  1. I'm disappointed with having made so little progress today. I set myself a target stage for each days building but fell well short of todays. I'll catch up, after all, it's not a race. Next time I'll be back in my other 'chair so will get more done. Building on my lap tray has taken it's toll on it. The perspex top is badly scratched and is cracked in a couple of places, the frame's had to be reglued & stapled a couple of times and the bean bag has split at least twice. My Uncles making me a new, bigger and more sturdy one. As for my build table. I bought it for £20 from a free ad website. All I've done is build on it. What it's previous owner did on it is something I'd really rather not think about
  2. A cool and very interesting build.
  3. Build Day 8 - Todays build time 3hrs 55mins / Total build time 24hrs 45mins In the time since I've been back building following my broken leg and for reasons to time consuming to explain I've not been allowed to be in my self propelled 'chair. Instead I've had to be in my electric one which means I can't get under my build table so I've been having to build on my lap tray. Today I had the OK from the hospital to get up in my self propelled chair. But as I've not been in it for over 4 months my balance, which isn't good at the best of times, was all over the place. This made todays building particularly difficult as I was a tad 'wobbly' to say the very least. As a result I didn't get anywhere near as much done today as I'd planned Due to the balance problems and a few other reasons I'll be back building in my electric 'chair for the foreseeable future. Building the BWE (when I get round to it) on my lap tray will be a very interesting experience Anyway, enough of my moaning, here's today's build pics.
  4. WOW! Everytime I see her she looks more beautiful
  5. What a great build. I like the detailing very much, makes it look very realistic.
  6. You've made a great start. I think this competition just might turn out to be the best yet.
  7. 40hrs? Now that's what I call patience.
  8. Build Day 7 - Todays build time 4hrs / Total build time 20hrs 50mins With Busterhaus and Andy D (just so you know who to blame ) wanting my inane ramblings to continue I feel it only right and proper to oblige which is just as well as after today's building I have something to ramble about. While looking through the instructions last night to plan today's building I came to the page below. Knowing that fitting these parts at this stage would cause me problems I planned to fit them before attaching the axle. Fast forward twelve hours or so and much to my annoyance I'd completely forgotten. The axle was on and try as I might there was no way I could remove it Following a very heated conversation with myself (during which some I felt some very harsh things were said) I set about the task of getting them on. After just over 1hr 40 mins they were in place. I'm sure I heard much cheering and applause. I wasn't happy about the lost building time as I didn't get as much done as I'd planned. Thankfully everything else went well. Today's build pics
  9. Seen plenty of LEGO trial trucks but I've never watched a LEGO truck trial before. Looks great fun. Thank you Sariel for the great video and for the introduction to the trials.
  10. Great idea for the competition. You're making good progress, I look forward to seeing more.
  11. I agree with the other members about the area around the front wheelarches, very nicely done. The whole model looks really good
  12. Build Day 6 - Todays build time 2hrs 40mins / Total build time 16hrs 50mins Happily building today was as problem free and enjoyable as yesterday's so you'll be pleased to read that none of my usual ramblings are needed (collective sigh of relief heard throughout the EB community ). Today's build pics
  13. Thank you I agree that the clutch pins are a cleaner solution. When the model's completed they won't be seen unless it's turned upside down but I think it says a lot about the designer that he used them anyway.
  14. Build Day 5 - Todays build time 2hrs 20mins/ Total build time 14hrs 10mins As I had a couple of hours free it was off to the shed for some fun with my little ABS friends. Having read through the instruction book last night I had a good idea of how today's build would go. Seeing a couple of 12t bevel gears gave me an idea that they'd cause problems (as they usually do ) but much to my surprise no such problems materialised. The rest of today's building was equally problem free. I have to say that seeing pictures of the completed model belies the complexity of this build. With it being quite modular in nature it's a real joy and the relative lack of repetition adds to that enjoyment. Today's build pics
  15. I'm not very good at this game, am I? Monopoly anyone?
  16. In that case would she be the Statendam? I know she's not the Euplecta
  17. What great builds. Looks ready for action
  18. The detailing just gets better and better. As for her name, would that be MS Koningsdam? http://koningsdam.hollandamerica.com/?WT.ac=footer_Col1_SeeOurNewShip
  19. This is some feat of reverse building. I'm still at a loss to know why TLG ditched this. Thank you for the instructions and for making them freely available.
  20. I like the new look. Yes, the update has a few problems at the moment but I guess that's to be expected. I'm sure they'll be sorted out soon. Thanks to all who gave and are still giving their time the make our website the best it can be.
  21. I use a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and have had no problems at all. It's pretty powerful, has a big screen and a great camera.. These phones are getting on now so you may be able to pick one up pretty cheap.
