Si-MOCs replied to Si-MOCs's topic in Guilds of Historica
I have a small break now... then I have to do something else for an entire month I'm sorry guys - worst leader EVER. As for LEGO collection... This is 2/3 of my build area: Possibilities abound... by Si-MOCs, on Flickr For most of my brick, they are in baggies / clear shoeboxes(I think I'm up to 100!). My brick is in several stages of sorting: By Colours: Bleys (always sorted down to piece), other colours are down to types of pieces By Piece type: different colour of the same piece in the same baggie Already Presort: broken down to basic brick types - 2x plate, 1x plate, bricks, wedges, greebles etc etc Unsorted tablescrapes: left over stuff I'm too lazy to sort out Unsorted brick - includes sets. Most of the sorted pieces are grouped into larger tal bins in the same presort categories. No idea how much I have, but I would wager it's easily 250k+ at this point. -
For those that won CMF's, I went out to the store and got some Robots and Alien Troopers... and can swap those in if anyone wants.... As for all the kudos, you shouldn't thank EB Staff, thank the contestants who pummeled us with great build after great build. Without them this month would have been sads-ville. You should consider building in Sci-Fi more often I've noticed traditionally non-sci-fiers usually build really neat stuff as they approach Sci-Fi very differently than the regular Sci-Fi builders. Just take a look at the winners, a lot of those builders aren't known for their Sci-Fi. Moral of the story: Everyone should build more Sci-Fi Why does everyone always blame me?

Ahhh the traditional shuttle exhaust configuration Headlight bricks would definitely work. You could also use technic bricks to join the engines I think the key won't be how you connect them but what you build around them. You have some nice sloping. I would suggest the sloping extends to cover up the connection area so just the back of the boasters are showing

Looks like another winner for Team Jigsaw! Wow. Love'n this. Who designed the train? it's absolutely gorgeous.
-
The rear tail is gorgeous! Really awesome colour scheme and execution. Some fantastic shaping in the engines too. I'm really tempted to look at the instructions to see how you did it... but that would be ruining the magic :wink; Really cool build
-
*cough* what about your FAPC build? That was probably a lot harder than a GARC ship. And why is there a pirate flag?!?! Though I agree with others the dark green boxy front is ace. And the side mirrors are awesome. The suspension is really cool - think you could take an underside shot for some of us who aren't as good ?
-
Wow! If this isn't best advertisement for the WIP thread, I don't know what is. it's REALLY cool to see your first WIP (which was already amazing) and tweaked it into this... I think I'll have to start using it more and get more results like this! Fantastic! I love the engine overview you put in How stable is it? The legs look pretty strong, but it seems so top heavy....
-
I didn't need to read the story to improve the build. The build is already awesome! I love the rocks and the green... ... cells? I'm not even sure haha. The portal is really well done, as is the mudflaps holding up the 'cell'. Really attractive build. is the entire portal in the back / with the three guys held on by connection in the corner there (like free floating) or is there an invisible stand somewhere? my only suggestion - and I'm being SUPPPEr nitpicky, is maybe try to rotate the cell a bit so the gap in the two domes isn't as obvious.... But dude this is awesome. And I really did like the story you came up with it

Blast from the past? This looks like a blast from the awesome future! Really cool build, love the colour schemes and your unique take on walker. The foot assembly in particular is stunning. But I have to ask, why is he only SEMI-Protected? why can't he be fully protected?!?
-
:looks at rank: :looks at rules: errr... I guess it doesn't explicitly say I can't enter, so I guess it's unwritten rule that I can't YAY! I built it right :) I totally tried to build the walker from Aliens. Though I had to compensate for the FabuFig's fat head

thanks! I basically built normally except i used brighter colours The pieces are actually used from bricklink, and a bit dirty too! you can see the smudge on the left yellow door. I would suggest checking out the tutorials in the Reviewer's Academy which can teach you how to shoot like this. But to answer your question, this was shot in a lightbox, it makes thing simpler, but isn't necessary, I've taken similar pictures without the need of lightboxes. The key is to take an overexposed picture (use your camera's manual settings) so that things are nice and bright. I dumped it into photoshop and changed up the brightness and contrast a bit. I then cropped out the background (it was slightly off white) and replaced it with pure white.you can see a bit of the shadows from the off white background which I left. If you got any more questions/want me to explain more, feel free to shoot me a PM Hehe. I've been saving the castle battlements for a moonbase build ... but this seemed like a better use How can I get in trouble for breaking a rule for a contest that I'm not even allowed to enter? Though if you're really going to be a spoil sport about it, I'll just swap out the Rocher with my LEGO rocher:

Maybe LEGO is just giving them away at random to all VIP members? Or would that be, you know, too nice?

That's a big Chocolate, and needs a big loader to move it. And in a rare treat, my friend Siegfried and his spank'n new Loader will be helping me moving that delicious nugget. (yes I had to Sci-Fabu it up.)

MOC - Lagann from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann LDD instructions
Si-MOCs replied to genecyst's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
That is ummm a creepy little robot I think the joints could use a bit more work, but it's pretty faithful to the source material. -
Wow you're on a Blacktron binge! They keep getting better and better! The asymmetrical layout is awesome. Any chance for a base?
-
Normally I would say 2-3 pictures max are required for builds of this scale... But WOW. I couldn't help but stop, and scroll back and take in all those details. I'm incredibly impressed at how much you packed in such a small space. Brilliant MOC!
-
Woh, that side ways windscreens are awesome with that side hatch. ! Really cool take on the old theme, the colour blocking is great

Opps. After reviewing the build, it does break the rules and should have been giving a warning to resolve the issue prior to voting. Given that the stupid organizers didn't notice it, and that the overage is confined in the base, which doesn't substantially add to the build. The ruling is that it should be DQ'd but will let it slide this time. Let this be a warning to all, organizers included to pay closer attention to the rules. And that next time they will be enforced with laser batons. Gubi - if you wish to change your vote - PM me. Note to all - rules prohibit editing your votes - contact me if you need to change something - lest your vote be DQ'd. (Thanks Rook!)
