  1. Dear Sandy, thanks for the update! Nice Moccing and good story line. Kind regards, Teddy
  2. Dear all, Dont know if this has been posted, but i saw this today at birckshelf and wanted to share it. <edit: after zorro3999's remark > The builder is called Romas in his brickshelf folder Kind regards, Teddy The link to the folder: here
  3. Dear Errorist, thanks for bringing this up. I've been following this on brickshelf as well. And boy does that guy build fast! I really like the details of the exterior. Kind regards, Teddy
  4. Dear all, I'm not sure if it has been shown before. Browsing on brickshelf I found this beautyful creation. It is build by zgrrdek. I'm not sure if this is his/her name, but it is the name of his/her folder. There are other beautyful creations in his folder as well, such as a nice castle gate. Kind regards, Teddy
  5. Dear CGH, nice tank! i like the mixing of light grey and bley. It gives the tank a realistic and weathered look! Kind regards, Teddy
  6. Cool entry, very unexpected to see the Spanierds! Interesting use of some pieces. Especially the ships hull as a rock. Plant.. I'd like to imagine the dinasour was crushed by a rock falling from space. :pir-skull: Keep up the good work. Kind regards, Teddy
  7. Dear mr Tiber, Benk and CGH, I really enjoyed reading the comic! mr Tiber sure did a nice job on imperial shadows noise. As usual, i really like the MOCs in the comic. The dock is nicely done and the rockpiece with the water is great. The new ship is really beautyfull. I like the black curving up from the brown ginving it a smooth effect. All in all i enjoyed it very much. Kind regards, Teddy
  8. Dear all, thanks for all the comments! Don't worry, I'm not insulted in any way, because for me its a matter of taste. Since I took a raddical stand, I left the door wide open for critisism. If it was well balanced everybody would more or less agree, this way we will get a fairer discussion on the set. I must say that the defensive of the set did not alter my view on the design. However, I do feel a bit better about the set since it has a nice collection of minifigs and usefull parts. To be clear on the topic I wasn't expecting a UCS set, I just expected more from an 80 euro set. About the historical correctness argument: for me there just are some limits. Does anybody here want the orcs to fly around in stealth bombers while attacking the castle? Okay that might be cool anyway. I can agree it is a gray erea, since it is fantasy. And I am fully ware my argumentation is not "waterproof". I did my best to describe the features I do and don't like in my first post. However, I am very interested to know what other people like or dislike of this set. I started this topic out of curiousity. Kind regards, Teddy
  9. Dear all, I know the Troll Wasrship hasn't been reviewed yet, and this is not a review. Recently, i bought the 7048 Troll Warship and after building it I was really dissapointed with the end result. For me this is just the worst set I bought in the last three years. Since, I was so utterly dissapointed I wanted to poll what other people think. Because, it could just be me not liking this and maybe I'm just not seeing the positive. This is not lego bashing since I like most of their current castle line and have bought a consideral amount of those sets. The things that really enoy me about the set are: -It doesn't even have a rudder or a ship's weel for that matter. -The cabin doesn't hold anything and the masts have now way of climbing them. -At the back you can see two gaping holes at the spots where you can put two 2x4 bricks to conect another section. -The dwarf in the net seems strange and the pully system is just flimsy. -the back mast is higher than the main mast, which frankly just lookes weird and is historically incorrect. -The two small boats attached to the back seem out of place. -The cell in the middle of the ship makes no sence to me what so ever. Couldn't it have been located in the stern or in the bow? -The rocket turret in the front seems to come from outer space and is therefore oddly out of place in a medieval setting. The only positive thing is the green dragon, but I have no use for it right now. Personally I feel I burned 80 euros (120 dollars) on a below average set and I could have bought the dragon on bricklink for considerably less. Currently, I just wish I had taken another set. I would be very interested in the opinion of other members on this set. kind regards, Teddy EDIT: Box pic added for reference.
  10. Dear castlestrike666, that is looking mighty impressive thus far! I really like the detailing you have done on the enterior. Is this castle modeled after an existing castle? Is what you have build the keep of a larger structure and can we expect more exterior towers and curtain walls? Or do you intend to make a giant keep castle? The landscaping looks very good thus far. I'm still wondering where the water of the waterfall comes from? Are you planning a rised river/ lake somewhere? As a side note: You could build the water sideways instead of studs up. I always really like the smooth surface that gives. I'm not sure about the tan plates in the landscape, personnaly dark green or brown would be more appealing to me. But thats just my opinion. The tan now kind of "jumps" of the screen, but that might just be the photo. Things always look different in real-life. Thanks for sharing your work in progress and keep up the high standard! Kind regards, Teddy
  11. Dear all, thanks for all the cool comments and replies! It's really rewarding to build something and receive so much positive encouragement and feedback! I have been really busy lately so I haven't found the time to do creative work on the ship. The little time I did have I spend working a bit on my castle design..here (I'm so sorry, I know it is the pirates forum.... please don't kill me... ) I'm not a member of a LUG, actually my only lego exposure is right here on EB. Mainly because I like the supportive atmosphere. Kind regards, Teddy
  12. Dear all thanks for all the great replies! I really appriciate them. Dear lego12, thanks for the compliment! It's very nice of you to say. keeps me motivated. Dear Wout, I did not think of that yet, but it is a very cool idea. Thanks for liking my castle, Gus! I would like to make a square or rectangular base with two more round towers at the back corners and a keep. I do have three more wall sections finished and two smaller towers, but I have a lack of table space for the moment which prevents me from attaching them. I also need to get more light bley for the keep design I've been considering. Dear blueandwhite, thanks for the constructive feedback. I have updated the waterfront. I've made the waterfront wave a bit in an effort to make the transission to the water smoother. I wanted to preseverve the moat feel to it. Hopefully, this is more or less what you were talking about. If not I'm always open for other ideas.

    Two pirate MOCs

Dear DNL, thanks for the super fast reply! I looked real close to the screen to see how the deer is build. You are right, black lego is hard to fotograph. Kind regards, Teddy

    Two pirate MOCs

Dear DNL, Just saw this on brickshelf and I really like the waves you made in the sea. Those make the whole scene come allive. The entire MOC is made with real quality. I was just wondering what the black thing was on the beach? Thanks for sharing. Kind regards, Teddy
  15. Dear Sandy, I read all the available chapters of your story and i must say I really enjoyed reading them. I also enjoyed the MOCs you made to situate your story. is there any news regarding the next chapter, Chapter VIII? Kind regards, Teddy
  16. Nice and enjoyable interview! Really cool to hear the actual Bonaparte. I also enjoyed the spaghetti plate comment. The interview gave a really positive view off EB. Kind regards, Teddy
  17. Dear Cakeman, Really like your gate house design so far! Are you planning to make doors and porticullisses? The tan does give it a distinct look. Personnaly, I feel tan and light bley together make tan look yellow and light bley blue. I think they are a bit to much off in color. Old light grey and tan however work pretty good together. Therefore, I would like to suggest to you to mingle tan only with old light grey. This will make the colors blend a little better. you could for example put the light bley bricks mainly at the bottum and only use old light grey at the top as to smoothen the color transition. Just a suggestion of course. Keep up the good work. Kind regards, Teddy
  18. Dear all, Recently I updated the scenery. I tried to give it a bit of an autumn feel. Hopefully you like it. Since this is my first MOC with a scenary all comments and suggestions are very welcome. Kind regards, Teddy
  19. Dear Mister Phes, what a wonderfull contest. I just wanted to complement you and the organizers with htis great idea! I have been busy the last few weeks so I havent been very active on the forum. but I must say I am pleasantly surprissed by this contest. Just wanted to complement you on the great effort it must have been to organise verything. Kind regards, Teddy
  20. Dear Beuk, I really enjoyed your entry! The moment the picture popped up I started laughing. Personally, I feel steeling the tv is mighty cruel! :pir-skull: I am imagining the national football team was playing at the world cup when those pirates just took their tele... Poor villagers... although the timeframe is slightly off, that just makes it more funny to me. Thumbs up from me Kind regards, Teddy
  21. Dear mrts, thats just an amzing MOC! The portal is sheer brilliance! The detailing in the room is very nicely done. I also like the ghost vs skelleton battle next to the lava stream. Kind regards, Teddy
  22. Dear SirNadroj, I really like this MOC you've made! Especially with the optical illusion. The room is also designed very nicely and with lots of attention to detail. Keep up this high quality work. Kind regards, Teddy
  23. Dear Duke, beautyfull little scene you made there. I like the overall relaxed atmosphere of the picknick. The Orc in the batch thub and the dwarf having a drink, nice! I see you used dark brown for most of the trees. Was this done to give it an overall darker appearance? Kind regards, Teddy
  24. Dear Jim Butcher, thanks for your reply! Glad you like my castle. Since it is not completely clear to me what you dont like about the scenery i made some better photos. Hopefully you can give me some advice on how to improve upon it. Kind regards, Teddy
  25. Dear all, thank you for all your comments, they have been very constructive and very much appriciated. The dark red plates were an experiment which didnt work out as well as i had hoped. I have replaced them with sand blue ones, which do fit a lot better with dark bley. Furthermore, i have expanded the scenery a bit. Please tell me what you think, any comments and feedback is more than welcome. Kind regards, Teddy
