  1. Making an angled wall Dear all, after KimT his post I read the document he refered to and wanted to add something I made myself. I invented this technique independently, although someone might have had a similar idea before. I wrote a small computer program to calculate how you can build angled walls without stressing the bricks. So, basically, when pythagoras gives an integer output for two integer inputs. A small usefull set without doubles is this set: since this are heart to heart distances, a one should be added to the numbers to count the studs involved. So the modified list will be: How does it work!: Example1: the first row is 4 -> gives size of plain 5 ->gives size of plain 6 -> gives length of beam this means that two studs on the far corners of a 4 by 5 stud plain: can be covered by a 6 stud beam: Example2: 6 13 14 studs on the far corners of a 6 by 13 stud plain: can be covered by a 14 stud beam: Example3: The fourth row will gove 9 16 18 studs on the far corners of a 9 by 16 stud plain: can be covered by a 18 stud beam: Ofcourse, the set can be expanded upon taking jumperbriks into account. This will reduce the length of the beam by almost a factor of two. The basic set can be used only we will calculate using half distances inseatd uf full. This will mean the original set is devided by two and than one is added to all numbers since we consider the heart to heart distance. Exmaple of recalculating row one: 3 4 5 will translate to: 3/2+1=2.5 4/2+1=3.0 5/2+1=3.5 So we need to attach a jumper brick to the beam as well. The modified data set for jumper bricks is given by: Kind regards, Teddy
  2. Dear KimT, Just an idea ofcourse. You could consider taking of the Merlon on the inside part of the castle. Since, in most castles the back is not covert with merlons. Because, in case the wall is conquered, the lack of merlons leaves the attackers exposed to the defenders on the towers. Kind regards, Teddy
  3. Dear all, I voted other, since I'm hoping for a wind mill! Kind regards, Teddy
  4. Dear lego12, thanks for the compliment on the trees! They were an experiment to see how I could make a fall look. I have been collecting some bricks for the enterior. I'm thinking of putting stables and living quarters in the current courtyard. A bit like bodiam castle. Further I've been looking into the back of the castle and desided to do the keep like it is done in the Muiderslot here. So more a big house inside the back walls. Any other cool ideas are welcome as well ofcourse. Since I havent started construction of the keep yet. Kind regards, Teddy
  5. Dear Captain Zuloo, don't worry I'll beat him! No but serious, I love this effort and I think he did a great job. For me this is a source of inspiration. I have been experimenting with another hull technique, so I think it is nice to be able to comapre the two. Kind regards, Teddy
  6. Dear all, thanks for the compliments on the gun! For the smaller calibre (12 pounder) guns I wanted to, more or less, stick to the same design. But, make them somewhat shorter and probably without the palm tree trunks. The carriage will stay more or less the samen, but one stud shorter. I still haven't made my mind up though. I just solve these design steps as i go allong. Kind regards, Teddy
  7. Dear Norrington, nice find! Very interesting to see a minifig-scale HMS victory in a totaly different technique than I thought of. I like the masts and how he did the rigging. I'm not sure about the bow prit. althoug it was extremely long on the HMS, I'm not sure if it was that long. Thanks for sharing. Kind regards, Teddy
  8. Hi castlestrike666, welcome to Eurobricks! I will be looking forward to your castle design. Kind regards, Teddy
  9. Dear CVSPIS_CELIDVS, that is just a really cool idea! Kind regards, Teddy
  10. Dear KimT, the corner tower is progressing nicely! It maintains the yellow castle feel. Any updates yet? Kind regards, Teddy
  11. Dear Sir Dillon, Inertia, and Wout, thanks for all the nice comments! The tree is indeed a birch. Or at least that is what it is supposed to be. your nice comments inspired me to do some extra work on the castle. I made some additional texture to the walls. It is kind of an expiriment to make details around for example the arrow slits. Please tell me what you think. any comments are welcome! Kind regards, Teddy
  12. Dear all, sorry for the short reply. WOW..... 2009 will bankrupt me for sure, and I don't mind! Kind regards, Teddy

    K-Wing

Dear Rook, that looks amazingly well done indeed. Judging from your reference material though, it appears the engine is attached to both the top and bottom wing. I might, ofcourse, be totaly wrong, since I'm no Star Wars expert. I do like the concept of building models not apearing in the original movies. So keep up the good work! Kind regards, Teddy
  14. Dear Olog, I really like your walker! Are you planning to do more walkers? Or is this the only one planned for the time being? If you plan more I will be looking forward to it. If not, I'll just stick with watching the youtube movie of your current fantastic design. kind regards, Teddy
  15. Dear DNL, I like your design very much! Also, I like the updates you made today. But I must agree with zorro3999 that the big gun looks out of place in the MOC. I don't know if you have some cool twist planned for it. But, if not, I would suggest removing it. Apart from the gun I like your design thus far and am looking forward to any updates! Kind regards, Teddy
  16. Thanks, for the compliment about my MOCs! Don't worry about the warnings I received. I haven't had any since. I do admit I was somewhat shocked, since I write many scientific articles in English for my work. But it was tracable to a late night post. I saw the gun was indexed. So many thanks to the admins! However, it is modeled after a 32 pounder gun in a 1:40 minifig scale according to original specs. So, I'm sure the scale of the gun is correct for a genuine 32 pounder, although it is currently listed as a 12 pounder. I can understand since the design is sleek , but its barrel is 1.5 suds larger than the original lego gun in real life. Kind regards, Teddy
  17. Dear all, I will not update this gun design. Would it be possible fo this design to be indexed? Kind regards and thanks in advance, Teddy
  18. Dear TheBrickster, This is a very interesting question indeed. First let me consider your list: Price (How much is it?) Value (Is the set worth the price/piece or other value ratio?) -I prefer a price point of 10 pcs per euro, unless there are special ellements such as a motor. Playability (Will it give you some play or fun - swoosh value?) -Only for airplane, or space ships sets do I consider this. Design (How is the overall quality of the design?) -When I don't like the design I might buy for the pieces. Integration (Will it fit within my existing Tabletown or collection?) Theme (Is it a theme I value or collect other sets to?) -I try to collect certain themes and sometimes only buy to complete a collection, unless i think a set is just to poorly designed. Rating (How do other AFOL feel about this set?) -Personnaly, I don't really care about the ratings of other AFOLs Visual Quality (How "cool" does it look? or does it look like a Classic Town set?) -for me it must look more or less "realistic" with nice little details. Pieces (Does this set contain special pieces that you need or want?) -this might convince me to buy Minifigs (Does this set have minifigs that you want?) -Yep I bought sets solely for the minifigs Build (Do you prefer an easy or more complex build?) -doesn't matter to me. Other Considerations (you may have other considerations when buying a set). -Does it contain new elements I can use for my current or planned MOC. To sum it all up: 1.value 2.visual quality/design 3.Usefull pieces for MOCs 4.theme 5.minifigs This is just my list. Kind regards, Teddy

    Repentant V.2

Dear BlueBard, thanks for the update! I will be looking forward to your Comic. Hopefully, you will get the parts you need. Kind regards, Teddy
  20. Dear Klaus-Dieter, are you suggesting we should use Lego as an investment vihicle, just as expensive bottles of Whisky? If Lego decides to release the set anyway, due to high ebay prices, he might regret not selling now when prices are high. Although personnally I feel 300 dollars is just ridiculous for this set. But thats just my opinion. Kind regards, Teddy
  21. As long as you tile everything and inbetween as well, everything is just raised with one plate height. Thus, mainting the relative height differences. And adding a tile actualy only increases the height with about half a plate height since the studs aren't there anymore to add additional height. just my line of thinking. Kind regards, Teddy
  22. I think I'm recognizing Port Antonio here of Evildead on the right hand side of the cathedral. So maybe he knows who the builder is? Kind regards, Teddy
  23. Dear Erdbeereis1, that is an amzingly peacefull MOC! The one guy has a really big tool for weed cutting. I really like the waterfall and stream, they are nicely done. Indeed a good place for icecream. Kind regards, Teddy
  24. Dear all, Recently I made some scenery update. Next to that I made a hoist mechanism for the two portcullises. Kind regards, Teddy Scenery update: Hoist update: For ease of controle I made exterior nobs for us humans next to the two brown ones operated by the soldiers on the top level.
  25. Dear KimT, Like your design thus far. Modularity is a nice challenge in itself. I'm a bit confused, I'm not sure if a tiling a section is really SNOT? Since the stud (although tiled) still are on "top". What do you think? As to tiled vs non-tiled: Personnaly I slightly prefer the tiled one, although the greebles (studs) on the regular one make it more interesting to look at. Kind regards, Teddy
