Venator-Class Attack Cruiser vs Imperial Star Destroyer
Teddy replied to Teddy's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Oh, given you're building abilities I will be looking forward to that. Will it have PFs like you're beautyfull red truck? ahh, poor Future74. No way you can sweeten the deal for your girlfriend a bit? Gifts, additional household chores, Lego for her ? I guess I'm lucky, since my girlfriends grandmother and her sister like Lego as well. So, she is used to it a bit. Yes it does look small, but in real life it doesn't seem very small beside the ISD. Personnally, I like what they did with the Venator given the scale and that it is not UCS. It is after all still a play set like the ISD. I guess, since the deal in Euros is quite okay I'm not feeling the expensive vibe. So, I can agree to some extend to what AoNZ said about the Venator: -
Dear svelte_corps, Thanks for your review. Got this set today and I can second the difference in color of the yellow bricks. Nevertheless, I really like this set a lot. So I can second the 9/10 score as well. Kind regards, Teddy

Thanks for the review alex54, This set is just Train-tacular! This review actually made me stroll websites yesterday to find this set. I missed this set a couple of years ago in 2001 during my dark ages. And I missed it when I was young when it was first released. Guess I wasn't convincing my parents enough back then. But, it has always been one of my favourites. Kind regards, Teddy

Dear all, got this set last Saturday. I like it a lot as an army builder. Two snow-troopers and two snow-rebels. A Han Solo in snow gear and a TaunTaun. For only 27 Euros! The snowtroopers alone would have set you back around 30 Dollars on BL four weeks ago. They are practically giving them away! Kind regards, Teddy P.s. Yeah okay, maybe 27 euros is a bit steep for a set this size. But the minifigs made it worth my while. P.p.s. Dear Admins, sorry for all the emoticons.

Uhm... Denmark is not the Dutch Republic. Here is a link to the Anglo Dutch wars. Result: Dutch domination of world trade until 1713 Link to wiki page We even took over England for a while. Kind regards, Teddy

what are you complaning about? He bought the set with his own hard earned cash. He took the effort to take pictures and he took the effort to give his opinion. No-one can argue with his opinion, because that is what it is: his opinion. Negative critisism is easy, anybody can do that. Do you really believe that stomping on him like this is helping anybody? It will not help you and it will not help him. Ofcourse someone is defensive when you are attacking them negatively like this. That is human. Heck, I would be steaming with anger. Being positive and constructive is hard and requires the social skills you are talking about. I'm sorry but any person posting a reply like the one quoted above is the one clearly lacking in the social skills department. Kind regards, Teddy

You're IG88 sure looks a lot better than the official one. The cartoon is very funny. Kind regards, Teddy P.S. Mr. Whiskers might require IG88 services, where can we contact him?

oh no... I didn't win? How will Mr. Whiskers and I be able to pay for the giant magnet without the million Dollars price money...

Venator-Class Attack Cruiser vs Imperial Star Destroyer
Teddy replied to Teddy's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Always glad to help. Alhough I read some negative sentiment towards this set, I actually like it. The ship is much smoother then I initially thought, when seeing the preliminary photos a couple of months ago. And my girlfriend (who is a star wars fan) likes it as well. (Which counts for a lot in our household. ) Kind regards, Teddy -
Venator-Class Attack Cruiser vs Imperial Star Destroyer
Teddy replied to Teddy's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Well I just did a little price searching. If I'm not mistaken these were the Lego S@H prices: the 6211 retailed in 2006 for: 99,99 Dollars or 149,99 Euros the 8039 retails currently for: 119,99 Dollars or 139,99 Euros So in Dollars the deal is quite poor, in Euros it is okay. I guess our American friends are suffering from the weakness of the Dollar of the last couple of years. kind regards, Teddy -

Thanks Future74, I just checked the piece count. For set 8039 it is: 1170 pieces For set 6211 it is: 1367 pieces So those 200 bricks make a lot of difference size wise. Kind regards, Teddy -
Dear all, Reading the reponses to the review of set 8039 done by 'Bricks', I noticed some people requisting a side by side photo with 6211. So, hereby I wanted to show some comparing shots of set 8039 vs. 6211: The folder containing high res photos: link to the brickshelf folder Kind regards, Teddy Other photos:

Dear CGH, weren't the British ships at Trafalgar copies of French designs? There is some hint in wikipedia: linky here But I'm quite sure I read somewhere Thomas Slade copied the French hull design. Of course the French could have copied the Dutch designs first.. Maybe Errorist knows for sure how everything links up? Kind regards, Teddy

REVIEW Castle 7097 - Trolls' Mountain Fortress
Teddy replied to Svelte's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Could the poll include an option: nice parts pack? I'm not impressed with the design at all, but i like the collection of minifigs and the parts included. Kind regards, Teddy -
Review: Lego Architecture 21004 | Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum!
Teddy replied to Tung T. Le's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Well that equals: 1 Euro gives me 1.39 Dollars. Im just waiting untill the demand for dollars starts to slip and QE kicks in, so that 1 Euro gives me 20 Dollars. Dont know what 60 cents Youre talking about though? Kind regards, Teddy -
This is verry well done. There are some neat techniques and ideas in there. If I may suggest an improvement; You could replace the darkbley roof of the tower by dark bley versions of these elements: here here Currently the roof appears a bit too bulky compared to the rest of the structure. Thanks for sharing. Kind regards, Teddy

REVIEW Castle 7097 - Trolls' Mountain Fortress
Teddy replied to Svelte's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Thanks fot the great review! Took me some time to read trough the replies. I agree with KimT. Initially I did not like this set at all. Now I see it as a usefull parts pack. There are some great parts in there. So I'll get one when it is available at my local toy store. As for the design itself... I voted poor. Kind regards, Teddy -
Review: Lego Architecture 21004 | Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum!
Teddy replied to Tung T. Le's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Where do you guys buy these sets? I can't find them on www.lego.nl or in my local stores (here in The Netherlands). That said, 40 Dollars... Hmmm, I'll wait a few months more untill 40 Dollars equals 2 Euros. Kind regards, Teddy -
Thanks fot the review Cardinal Brick, This set is horrible .... But I guess I'll buy it anyway to complete my collection of the new castle line... They should have made it more like the 6055 set That one made more sence in the horse to chariot ratio and looked good. As for 7078: poor design, high price, chance missed Kind regard, Teddy

hahaha, thats funny. I must confess that thought crossed my mind as a kid as well. about vol3: must have black falcon.... must have cowboy... must have bluecoat!...... Didn't care for vol1 or vol2, but this is amazing!

Great review! I really like the Green Grocer. It's one of my all time favourites. So I voted outstanding! Kind regards, Teddy

Off topic: Sounds great! Will be looking forward to the photos. On topic: Nowadays, I don't MOD my sets. I collect them... Or I MOC with randomly collected bricks: Ebay, BL, Legoland, legostore, etc. I rarely take one appart for bricks. The ones I do take appart are mostly creator sets. A few years back I used to improve my sets, but now they are all in their original state. Kind regards, Teddy

Dear all, thanks for all the nice replies! I will try to make some photos of the armchairs and some of the other furnature. Yes, he is. That's because he is slightly nuts. Thanks guys! That is a good idea. I might just do that in the future when I have some more time. thanks CGH

Dear Dwarfinator, I'm building the HMS-Victory as she was at Trafalgar in 1805. The 42 pounders were replaced by 32 pounders after "the great repair" in 1803. So I'm using the 1805 armnament: Deck Number Size Lower gun deck 30 32 pounders (long) Middle gun deck 28 24 pounders (long) Upper gun deck 30 12 pounders (long) Quarter deck 12 12 Pounders (short) Forecastle 2 2 12 pounders (medium) * 64 pounder carronades More info can be found here at www.hms-victory.com: link to HMS Victory website Kind regards, Teddy
