Thanks for the review Bachus! I agree with Holodoc that a 100€ seems steep for the set, as it is the same price as the medieval market. Need to think about it. I think I will look at the inventory to make up my mind. Thanks again for the review! Kind regards, Teddy

playmobil project - city guard room
Teddy replied to medieval_total_lego's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Absolutely love this! I am a huge fan of this project of yours. Love the photo in which several wall sections are combined. These are the kind of modular castle sets I wish were in the shop. Great job! Kind regards, Teddy -
Wow, now that is army cheerleader building! I agree the distribution has been a bit strange. Only one of my local toy stores has these figures. Kind regards, Teddy

WIP: Achille and Guerrière, French Frigates of 28 guns
Teddy replied to BrickPerfection's topic in Pirate MOCs
That is a very pretty ship. I really like the work you have done on the interior and all the extra detailing. Kind regards, Teddy -
Such a sweet post office! Good use of colors and texturing and thumbs up for the interior! My only suggestions would be to add some details in the walls to suggest some aging, due to wear and tear and the weather. And you might contemplate using dark blue instead of regular blue to give it a less flashy color scheme.

These are really great and colorful! Such good use of colors, it really gives it that Chinese vibe. I love it a lot! Really, really well done.

This is beautiful! Really love that unique roof. The quality of the MOC is awesome. Really cool how you work with that dark-(gr/bl)-ey color and use the bricks to make the texturing of an otherwise boring color interesting. Really well done. Kind regards, Teddy

Yeah, lets introduce a new buzzword: Motorize! haha
-
Knob? Surely already paying 250 on this it deserves its own motor for a real retractable landing gear and the folding of the wings. This is just screaming for modifications.

Dear Admins, the upgrade of the forum has been, from my viewpoint, a great success. I have been using it for a couple of days, trying some things, and I really enjoyed and liked it a lot. Congratulations on the upgrade, and thank you for all the effort you have put into this! From a happy user. Kind regards, Teddy

Review: 852922 Dragon Knight's Battle Pack
Teddy replied to metalandi's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I bought four BPs. Two from Lego.com and two from a local toy-store. All BPs suffer from parts having too much clutch power and too little clutch power. This issue is in all BPs, and across minifigs. Probably the machines used to produce them have a tolerance which is set too high. All in all it is annoying, when paying 15 bucks for mini-figures I demand top quality. If they were 5 bucks I could live with it. But this is not okay for me. The printing appears to be good in the battle-packs, but I have the white turning pink issue in some of the regular sets. Kind regards, Teddy -
Hi All, In almost all of my new sets the light pearl swords have the new color. The new colored swords are definitely slightly darker than the swords in my castle sets of last year. But I also noticed that the old-light-pearl colored swords, in the new sets, tend to be of better quality than those of the 2008 sets. All in all I am pleased with the new color and the better quality of the old color. The Battle-pack quality is not so good though, some parts have too much clutch some parts none. It appears the machines used to produce them have a tolerance which is too high for descent quality. I bought four battle-packs two from Lego.com and two from a local store. Since they originate from different sources I consider them different batches. All the battle-packs have this issue though. Kind regards, Teddy

Hi Tony, Have been following this project from the start. I really love how you put the things togheter. Borrowing techniques and designs that work and add them in your MOC is the way that Design progresses, and I absolutely love it when people are doing that and add their own twist to it. The trick is to use them in a way that they work well togheter and which is ditinctly yours and fits your ideas for your MOC. Great MOC! If you are ever going to do a large MOC like this again, my only advise for "improvement" would be to add some more subtle random color changes in the exterior walls. I noticed you did use old and new grey bricks. You could for example put 1x1 and 1x2 tan plates inbetween the old grey bricks. To give the illusion the church is build up from smaller bricks. Just my two cents. Kind regards, Teddy

Hi AJW, Looking at the photo of the real deal I notice there is a "stack" of arches. You could recreate an additional layer of detail on the arches via the use of tubes. They could start at the middle of the pillars and end up at the slope/cheese bricks. Here is a link to brown colored tubes on Bricklink: Link to Bricklink You could clam them in plates with clips. You might have to offset the pillars a bit or add 2x1 plates with doorrails underneath the tubes at the pillars. Well this is my two cents. Kind regards, Teddy

Super cool glider! I love its simplicity. The proportions look great. Would it be possible to get an actual minifigs in there? Super cool glider! I love its simplicity. The proportions look great. Would it be possible to get an actual minifigs in there?

That guy looks like a friendly ungle/grandpa, but given he is a maffia boss he must be a cold blooded killer. That combo just gives me the shivvers. Nice MOC btw.

They are really cool. Especially the yellow one with the white top. And they are four studs wide. So they are backwards compatible with older city models.

Personally I am not a big fan of the ship. But I love to get my hand on some of that Maersk blue bricks.

Hi everybody, sorry for the late replies. I have lived in the USA for some months (as an exchange scholar at UCLA) and was in Paris for a week (conference) and now to my own frustration I have been in bed with the flue for four days. So my activity on the forum has been a bit limited. Hi Victor1, thanks for your compliments! Last month I bought a GE when I was living in the USA, now I'm back in NL and hope to add it to my street soon. I remember there are already some comparisson shots on the forum, but I don't have a link right now. Thanks Superkalle! I spend a lot of time cramming all the stuff in the bedroom. Thanks Gunman! It is always supercool when people like your MOCs. Hi greg3, yes I agree. Tiling the bathroom floor would look better. I was looking for some effect in the badroom floor and break a bit with all the tiling I already did. None the less I don't think studs in the floor are necessarily a bad thing. Hi 'Captain'Spaulding'. For MOCs like these I itterate a great number of time. Sometimes ripping the entire thing appart and start anew. I think it took some twelve itterations on the exterior and something similar on the interior. Luckely, I can build pretty fast so an iteration does not nescessarily take a lot of time. Building time is more or less dominated by the flow and speed of ideas popping up in my mind. Thanks 'FelixTheCat', I build that high ground floor on purpose since it fits with my storyline of an old music school and I actually learned to play the trombone when I was a kid on the ground floor of a building with such a high ground floor. So for me the proportions are not odd. Where I am from lots of old buildings have such a high ground floor and I used that as an inspiration and I liked the fact that it broke up the patterns in my streat a bit. I am not an expert on architecture, so I do not know why this is. Maybe someone on the forum can enlighten me. Kind regards, Teddy

This is amazing! I love it. The work on the column is outstanding. Are you plannig on putting several of those under the beam of the main entrance? Kind regards, Teddy

Jay! My VIP works now. Apparently there was a spelling error. This was fixed after three attempts. Than it appeared I can only give my current USA adress for my USA VIP card. When I'm back in the Netherlands I don't know if I can keep using my VIP card under my Dutch adress in the stores in Germany. Does anybody know this? Anyway, I went back to Glendale Gallerya and spend some money there and earned points which I could use at my next buy. So it works and I'm happy. Hopefully it will work when I'm back in Europe. Otherwise I guess I will loose the points and need to get another card.

Dutch VOC ship the Prins Willim, minifig scale!
Teddy replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in Pirate MOCs
Hi CGH! Great update! Good to see there is still progression in the project! Keep it up! Kind regards, Teddy -
Hi the_green_avenger, this is comming along nicely! I've also had to rebuild my stern about 50 times to get the shape right. The stern is a difficult shape, because you have a concave and convex line flowing in more than one direction, and Lego is not the ideal material for that kind of shape. I also agree with CGH comments about the shape of the main body/hull. You might want to contemplate using a different angle for the bottom and than turn upwards more rounded. Given the plans you showed, I think the best angle to start with from the center of the ship, is probably one done with jumpers. Good luck on this creation and kind regards, Teddy

Give me the stamps back! I Have been trying to register for this VIP thing for over a week now. I have wasted a lot of time on this. The people in the Lego store appear to have messed up my name. Eventough I showed them my megablocking passport. I have had contact with the costumer service and the error should have been corrected, but it still does not work. My error is: ====================================================== Your form could not be submitted for the following reasons: The card number you have supplied does not match the details we have. Please check the card number and ensure the name you typed matches the name you supplied in store. If you continue to experience problems please contact LEGO Customer Service ====================================================== This is irritating me beyond believe. I actually feel insulted a lot for them screwing my name. All in all the registration process megablocks. I should be able to register on a computer myself, or to double check, to make sure it is done correctly. Has anybody else experienced similar problems?

I was in the Lego store in Glandale today to get the Grand Emporium. It was sold out! What a huge dissapointment again! First they don't have it. Now it is sold out. The PAB looked rather plain. Nothing special in it, just like four weeks ago. I just don't get it. Don't they want to sell stuff to me or what? I have been there twice already and would be glad to spend a large sum of my Lego budget there. But up untill now, it has been quite a dissapointment.
