Got the AT-ST, Rebel Alliance Battlepack, and Senate Commando Troopers, with Revan!

Force Friday (30th September) promotions
MaxTube55 replied to Richpepperell's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I woke up at midnight to get it so I was guaranteed that they had them, it was strange that the death star was available yet all the rogue one sets said coming soon, and are STILL saying it! So i just got the senate commandos set and I confirmed I also had a revan coming as well so I hope after all this I will get him after all. I guess I'll just get the At-St at a store instead of online so i don't have to wait for it to ship. -

That's the exact same set I was going to try and get the Revan fig with myself, I probably will get on the online store at midnight to be safe. -
I totally understand your disappointment, but I don't share it about 75159, but I do about 75098. I think opinion on the Death Star depends on if you got the old set or not (I'm not saying you did), and I did not. I would've loved an outer shell or something, but I'm not at all disappointed with 75159 and will most likely get it because I have a second shot at it. Well a change would've been nice, but as stated earlier I don't care as I never got 10188. IMO I think real UCS needs exclusivity and a special feel not just display value, and if a giant LEGO Death Star doesn't have both I don't know what does, but what was done with 75098 doesn't hit either target. As for 10179 being re-released that would be amazing, with I think only 100 €/$ price hike. But, I think just as people are so upset about 10188's re-release, I expect people will feel the same about a 10179 re-release. I hope I hear more views on these sets.

2016 has been a very successful year for LEGO Star Wars. There so far have been 37 Star Wars sets released (including the 9 sets to be released September 30th). They also made a new LEGO Star Wars TV show, The Freemaker Adventures which just aired its final episode. But 2016's UCS sets have sparked loads and loads of controversy, when the images and details of 75098 UCS Assault on Hoth it sparked outrage as many people though it costed way too much, didn't deserve the UCS title, and was a lazy attempt with so much incompleteness, and other complaints. The other UCS set is the 75159 UCS Death Star, it also has been criticized as a lazy attempt and a cash grab by LEGO. ^ 75098 UCS Assault on Hoth ^ 75159 UCS Death Star Set Reactions: Now I totally see everyone's point on 75098 and I think it was a very poor effort by TLG, but I differ from the majority on my opinion of 75159. I believe that 75159 is great, I have heard how upset people were when 10188 was discontinued, but it was very old and needed an update. Then when we got the update everyone is so outraged and upset with TLG for not changing it much. I see that people wanted something new, but 10188 was selling well for the 7.5 years it was being produced so why change it, everyone loved the set. Now I also see why people are upset about the price hike, but two factors called for it, first is that inflation sucks and accounts for roughly $50 of the increase, and second back in 2008 there was only LucasFilm with the rights to Star Wars, but now LEGO needs both Disney and LucasFilm licencing which isn't cheap, so it sucks but we know that this had to be done to continue to make profit. Also this might be slightly biased because I got to the LEGO and Star Wars buffet late and by the time I bought my first Star Wars set in late 2015 I was not yet big enough a fan to consider buying 10188, so I want 75159 badly an that is also my final reason for why there was nothing wrong with what TLG did with 75159, because there were so many more who wanted and couldn't get the original and we now have a second chance to get it. So leave your reactions to these two sets in the comments and May the Bricks be With You, Always.

Well if I would of known this sooner I would have rotated my 75095 between putting it on the stand and setting it on its wings every month or so.

Bricklinked UCS Millenium Falcon time-lapse build
MaxTube55 replied to EdmanZA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Wow that's a lot of pieces to order, I definitely could not see myself doing this anytime soon. Good job. -
Ye I just picked it up, its a miracle something hasn't been destroyed since building it last night. I transport it from room to room with the whole set balancing in my arms, so its only a matter of time before something happens to it. I've already entered what I need into an wanted list, so I just got to find a seller, buy it from BrickLink, and then wait and hope it comes with everything and its intact for the battle to begin!!! It says we can't enter others peoples MOCs with out permission so if you could give us permission someone who knows rebrickable well enough (not me) could do it.

The UCS Hype. What will 2017 bring? (40th Anniversary)
MaxTube55 replied to Major_Ton's topic in LEGO Star Wars
There lots of good options for UCS sets. I personally would like all the retired UCS sets to be remade, because it was fairly recently that I became a hard core LEGO Star Wars fan and only have the UCS TIE. But, because I have too choose, I would like to see an even larger UCS Death Star that looks like a completed 10143 on the outside but larger, and then you could unclip the exterior panels, apart from the superlaser, and it would reveal a way better, larger 10188 interior. With all the new parts and structural elements TLG is using it is now more possible than ever to make it sturdy and more accurate. -
Remembering Kenny Baker [MOC] [LDD Tribute]
MaxTube55 replied to MaxTube55's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I know that feeling. I was like I should make a new LDD MOC and then I was like. Wait how about a Kenny Baker tribute by modding the UCS R2. It seemed logical to do this because you have the largest scale to work with.- 10 replies

Yeah, most of the parts that have the wrong color are mostly hidden. When the parts get here and 75150 does as well I can have a hand-held space battle myself with your TIE and Vader's vs. an A-Wing. Plus I will have a complete set of ANH TIEs. It sucked that the UCS X Wing retired a few days before I was going to buy it (and by the time I realized it, it was $260 everywhere ), but would have been an uncomfortably heavy hand-held battle, These TIEs will give my UCS one company and be light enough for me.

I have officially started collecting parts for the cockpit and after I complete that I'll then move on to getting parts for the wings. I'm super excited to build this, but I am trying to under excite myself so the waiting doesn't bore me to death. I already got a bag of parts from my giant bin death trap of LEGOs (never tear apart sets without organizing the pieces ) and stealing from sets. Some parts are different colors to not buy correct colors and save money but I will try to get it to be mostly like your design. Hopefully I can get the parts and build it soon.

Remembering Kenny Baker [MOC] [LDD Tribute]
MaxTube55 replied to MaxTube55's topic in LEGO Star Wars

Dear Star Wars, LEGO, and R2-D2 Fans, I know this is late but 3 days ago, on August 13th, 2016 Kenny Baker passed away. For those of you unfamiliar with this amazing man, he is the man who controls R2-D2 from inside the droid. This forum is all about LEGO and Star Wars, so I decided to use the flawless combination of the two to pay tribute to Kenny Baker and his work as R2-D2. I hope you all comment and show your respects in LEGO. Rest in Peace Kenny Baker.

Got the Galactic Empire Battlepack, the build is mediocre, there are good parts, and I love the unconventional versions of the popular Stormtrooper.

Thanks for this, now comes the tricky part, scraping together the money to build this. I'm not entirely familiar with rebrickable myself but looking at their help page on how to submit mocs it seems like you need photos which you already have, building instructions which is fairly tricky, and a part inventoriy. It said it can take part inventories from an lxf file. So if it that helps. Thanks.

I love these  . So many great features that make it way better than TLG's take on this iconic ship in non-UCS scale. But I'm also sad because there is only a cockpit ldd file and no rebrickable part file makes it hard to build. If you could please make a rebrickable and full LDD file I could seriously consider making one of your two TIEs as my first non LDD MOC ever, because it is too good to not want it.

Greetings, Today I have decided to create one of the most sought after SW sets that hasn't happened. You've read the title so you know of course it is a Yavin Base MOC. This is actually my second go at making this, my first attempt (which can be found here.), is very poorly executed with multiple design flaws that are too far from creative liberties, and very poor support. Now I have ditched the exterior, made it entirely interior based for improved playability (and difficulty to recreate the exterior correctly), made lots of braces going through the floor, put various triangle brackets and braces in the walls, made it a two-part modular build, and I gave it a final minutes of the battle tension as the theme (very clear with the placement of the minifigs). Briefing Room (Note: The 6x6 flat tile will be white w/ a cutout of DS plans on a black sticker) War Room T-65 X-Wing in Hanger Rear T-65 X-Wing in Hanger Front Arm w/ Rotating Droid Magnet (No Droid For Use) Fuel Tank w/ Refueling Hose How To Separate/Reconnect War Room to Briefing Room. [There are color and print problems as usual with just the minifigs and X-Wing (mod of unreleased Yavin set version for now)]. Hope you liked it. Yavin Base Command Center.lxf

I would like to do two things in this post. First I would like to thank everyone for their kind words, support and feedback. But, I would like to apologize. I mentioned I would make a completely separate yavin base, and I have found out that the temple's unique shape proved to difficult for my level of skill at mocing to recreate the exterior. So I have been prototyping interior base designs. But I haven't been able to get to the next step, or anywhere close, because of a last minute vacation that halted progress. So, you will hopefully see my "play set" Yavin 4 base in the coming days.
-
Now that I think about it I could possibly focus on the interior rather than the exterior, I think I'll build my display temple and then another model that is just briefing room with a hangar attached with some rock elements to give it that ancient temple feel. Oh wait I need to watch episode 4 again i totally forgot the briefing on the attack took place in a sort of cove in the hanger, my play model could just be a room which opens out into a portion of the hanger that could have an x wing and a rebel personnel carrier (that couldn't get any closer to the home one but it was a great concept), I don't need to include every pilot just maybe 4, Luke, wedge, Porkins, and biggs, I need dodonna and could throwing in that guy who drove the carrier would make a nice 6 figs. And for the display one I could just put dodonna and motha as figs with those pieces minifig series use as stands, because I conceive that set for rogue one and they are the two classic characters seen in the trailer (plus I have no clue how to recreate the new guys as well). Thanks to you too for reminding me about that awesome set I totally forgot about it I now have a pretty solid plan for what two Mocs I will be creating. :)
-
Also thanks about the death star tracking table, if you downloaded it you might have noticed the Trans studs, i did the radar dish so I wouldn't have to make it clear which was inaccurate. I decided that the temple looks good enough on its own that I can make it a nearly full on display set with mini fighters and possibly a way to open up into the mini celebration, but it doesn't matter because I like a more movie accurate set any ways, even though I like play sets as well, So be looking for my new display version, and thanks for all your feedback it will help me in thinking differently when I build mocs in the future.
-
Thank you so much for your feedback I will try and take your advice and build an accurate exterior with a compressed interior. Your tips do not come across as harsh as it helps me because at this point there is room for improvement with my ability to moc. I'm not going to go for the most accurately sized interior but worry about making a better accurate exterior. I have one question, if you respond how many of the 8 faces should I include I also realize I got the shape wrong as it the stairs come in at angle not at 90 degrees. It might not include a working door this time but more of a display orientated set that looks nice and has some mini compressed scenes from the movie like 10188.

[Model MOC] T-47 Airspeeder (Snowspeeder)
MaxTube55 replied to LiLmeFromDaFuture's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yes but they could use more SNOT. I think the two Star Wars sets that could use more SNOT are the Snowspeeder which has been recreated incredibly well in this MOC and Shuttle Tydirium. I think it needs to look more like a half sized baby 10212 and have other improvements. It needs a better interior, smoother fuselage, smoother wings, removal of the bottom hatch (in fact remove the bottom hatch on al sets that it is just too ridiculously small, narrow and steep if it doesn't affect the aesthetics), and the color change of that grey undercarriage to white so it is movie realistic. I modified one in LDD to do just that, after I finally make a long overdue update to the wings I'll share it.- 161 replies

What're your favorite and least favorite Star Wars minifigures?
MaxTube55 replied to Darthking623's topic in LEGO Star Wars
