Heroica RPG - Quest #90: A Trip to the Circus
Scorpiox replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in The Heroica Archive
Haldor grunts. "Keep your focus, we can argue this out once the battle is won. Hell, I'll hand you out some tonics if it makes you happy, elf. Now's not the time for quarrel - this fight's more important than any of our petty rivalries." He scrapes his weapon on a stone as if to remove the sticky filth that clings tightly to it, moving away from the fray as he does so. "I'll meet you on the eastern front." -

Haldor hadn't noticed that he was breathing heavily. In the space of a few brutal moments, he had slain a prince and changed the course of the Kingdoms' future. His hands stung from the impact of the blow. Prince David, the architect of Baltarok's current problems had fallen with a sickening crunch to the side of the head. The young lord barely put up a fight when it came down to that. His weapon now matted thick with blood and hair, the nord slowly turned his gaze down towards the red-robed corpse that lay below, body contorted in death, face stained with shock and gore. In different circumstances, what kind of ruler could he have been? Could he have changed, perhaps, had his life not been brought abruptly to a violent end by the hand of a foreigner? In that moment, Haldor realised that he couldn't leave. One cannot simply slay the sovereign and take to the high winds. The Kingdoms and Baltarok were part of him now. Wordlessly, the shaman moved towards Cassandra and struck. -

"Again, Thormanil's out of my reach at the present moment. Purpearl's welcome to take care, so I can lay into that softskin." Haldor moves for prince David. -
That's why I think they should be separate effects, so that QMs can use both sorts of immunity if they wish and there still be rule consistency. Both possibilities have their merits and make sense independently, so logically why not just make them different things and move on?
-
Suggestion: A new effect, 'Resistant to Light' is created, that acts as the immunity does now and provides resistance to light attacks unless another multiplier exists that balances it out to normal damage. 'Immune to Light' becomes a separate effect and is changed to straight-up grant immunity to any attacks involving light. This would solve all of the issues, would it not? In the Baltarok instance, the QMs would decide which of these effects Cassandra should have and we can move on.

Heroica RPG - Quest #90: A Trip to the Circus

"Someone take care of Thormanil - I'd love to myself, 'course, but he's too far away as it stands." He then closes in cautiously on Prince David once again. "Stay still, milk-sop." -
This happens to me a fair amount. Every few sets I buy, there is usually one minifigure whose head won't move once a place it on, annoyingly in most occurrences it is stuck at a useless angle. Sometimes I am able to twist them off and the second time I place them on they seem to rotate normally; but in an equal number of cases I just have to leave the figures as they are. With me, however, the black stripe is always printed normally and there is never any residue left on the inside of the head. This is what I've started doing with all of my new minifigures in an attempt to prevent the problem. So far, no head that I have twisted as I place it on has become stuck in that way.

Some Advice needed...Cloud City Moral Dilemma.
Scorpiox replied to DuckBricks's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I would thoroughly and wholeheartedly recommend that you don't do this. If you tell your friend that you essentially want a gift back because it's more valuable than you thought, experience has told me that he'll be disinclined to give it back and probably choose to sell it himself. Plus, if he thinks that you only want it back because it is worth something, he'll probably think you're self-centred and inconsiderate. Trust me, asking for the set back because you want to sell it is not a nice thing to do. Really, it's not. What you'd be doing there is inadvertently making it clear to him that you think you deserve the money from the sale more than he does. To save his feelings and increase the chance that he'll actually agree to give it back, just tell him that you love the set and it used to you great happiness, and knowing that he doesn't use it any more, it would mean a lot if he were to return it to you. Tell him that he's a great friend afterwards, of course. -

Haldor, feeling invigorated all of a sudden, swings at Son of light D. -
A really impressive creation, I love how you've added detail to give an impression of the ship's size, and your parts usage is very creative.

I absolutely adore how polished this model looks, especially those lift doors. An excellent piece of design.

Haldor steps back from the fray to get a better idea of what's going on, coughing as he does so. "Nihai, hold still so I can patch you up." -
I'm sorry if this is me, I certainly haven't been deliberately ignoring new heroes. Before the battle it felt as though we didn't have much time for roleplaying, and since Haldor has never met any of the newer heroes before I didn't think now would be the time to make introductions and what not. To those players in the quest newer to the game: please let me know if you think me or Haldor is diminishing your role in the quest so I can factor that into how I play. Haldor offered to lend all of his spare items to other heroes, but only Purpearl took him up on it.

Providing the option to flee, as well as out of battle sneaking I imagine.

It's the name of the book that Bilbo writes to recount his adventures, that's why it works as the name of the film. Everything goes full-circle.

Haldor clambers to his feet and stumbles forwards, swinging wildly at Prince David. -
I don't understand what doesn't make sense about the mechanics, we are up against tough enemies and we got bad rolls.
-
Oh dear...
-
As cruel as it sounds, I think a solution would be for QMs to not take certain players on quests again, if this is the result. I'm not referring to nstickney, but others who I have gathered don't really seem to read what's going on around us. It cost us in earlier diplomacy, and it could very well cost us now.
-
That's what we all need in a battle as tight as this one.
-
Or, you know, not everyone is able to dedicate themselves to this game all of the time...

"C'mere, mate." Haldor attacks Prince David and then heals Olmstyr. -
You are correct, I meant for Haldor to use a remedy on Thormanil.

I hope not, There And Back Again is the perfect title.
