LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
KevinMD replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Man, I had been thinking we were getting a poly clanker bus this whole time because I confused aat and mtt in my head. Maybe as part of a battle of Naboo set I could be on board but otherwise I hope there is no correlation. -
I can’t comment on the number of actual hours, but there are two in the SW section (and I feel like you may know them since I do see you post from time to time there) that I feel could qualify: 1400mm xwing 13ft star destroyer

I’ve been trying to figure out what issues I specifically have with it. Probably the phantom is a big part of it; docked it looks incredibly stupid. I typically withhold judgement when I can’t see high res photos (or ideally the set in person), I just had higher expectations I guess with this one. Currently watching rebels so the source material is fresh in my mind too which is probably playing into it. -

Looking at pictures of the ‘61, if I squint I can see it in lego form but it’s a difficult car to get right. I think @brickphisto is right to compare it to the Aston, another car that just didn’t look quite right in lego. -

I’m pretty sure it’s “a whole new world” actually. -
I contemplated building the failed ideas set but ultimately passed due to its small size. This will hopefully be more in scale with the old Boeing. Looking forward to see what they do with this.

New hook piece? Doesn’t appear to be the old metal one, certainly doesn’t appear to be built using 1x2 thin liftarms… -

So 4x4, just like 10240? Is the set scaled down then or are the intakes still too small? edit- scratch that, looks like they are 5x5. So closer to scale if the fuselage isn’t much different size-wise from red 5. -

I’m curious if this signals we will see the return of the 43mm wheel and tire combo and the larger scale trucks. -
It does seem like Lego has decided the options are either skyline, or ~2000 piece larger sets. Trafalger square was the last mid-sized set way back in 2017. Shame really but it does seem like Lego’s philosophy is becoming bigger is better.

Interesting choice of wheels and tires. I thought they had long since been retired. Model looks good though and it isn’t terribly surprising they chose green after the Defender.- 64 replies

I have fond memories of JP and was really looking forward to these sets. While I appreciate the dinos and the fig lineup, the builds really are pretty weak. raptor should’ve been either the pen, clever girl, or Ellie priming the generator. -

Well that sure is an interesting development. Reminds me of the old midi scale sets, should go nicely with the nebby.
