Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Brick Dangerous replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
It's also Brick Friday. -
Yay! Way to go, AFOLS!
-
^ Copyright 2017: me. I wasn't really serious about it, but yeah, my thinking went along the same lines as yours. Given the fact that we're talking about childrens' toys here and keeping in mind that us AFOLS are only a fraction of the target group, I find it a little absurd to complain about too many play features. I don't think that is something most children would be aggravated by.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Brick Dangerous replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
In the most recent episode of the "Lego Fan Talk" series, Michael from Promobricks claims that the next Modular Building will be released on January 2. He says that the release date was leaked by an online vendor together with price and set number, but no set name. Did we know this already? -

Thank you for inventing unboxing porn. -
Hm, I think I actually would've prefered some new minifigs. If I present them side by side in my city, it's actually messing up my continuity. Or moves the whole place to the Twilight Zone. That statement strikes me as somewhat AFOListic.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Brick Dangerous replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Again, it's just hearsay, so please don't get too carried away with the idea. I really don't know anything about the modular, but I'm VERY confident at this point that there will be one. Someone else even claimed that we might get a second Modular Building in 2018. But as is always the case with things strangers say on the interwebs, I don't know if this is any more than just speculation. And so far, it's literally one person that I know of. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

So you might want to take this with a grain of salt, but I've heard some tentative rumors about a train station. Perhaps that's the reason they made the WV one so tiny ... Just reporting what I heard, no guarantees, no refunds. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

There's not much to tell. I know absolutely nothing about the set, but a "reliable source" that I trust has said there will be one. That's literally all I know for now, and you don't have to believe it; heck, it could even be wrong since I haven't seen the set with my own eyes, but as I said, the source has always been right so far, and I certainly know I sleep better since then. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

We know there will be a Modular Building (for which I have confirmation as well). Some were starting to doubt it for the lack of rumors/announcement. -
It's not really a tree though, merely a trunk. Just sayin'.

It should be available from then on.

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion

I was going to ask the same thing for Europe. The Toys'R'Us "Bricktember" suits have rekindled my collector's zeal, and the KKT is the only recent one I'm still missing. If anyone wants to let go of one, I have a spare case of the T'R'Us ones, maybe we can work something out. Although I do have to say that I'm pretty appalled by the quality of these minifigs. While I've often heard complaints about CMF's and never really had an issue with their overall quality, those T'R'Us ones have really loose joints, and the Bat Wizard does not possess any clutch power to speak of. The connection between the torso and the legs/skirt piece is so weak that he literally falls apart as soon as I touch him. I mean, if I'd gotten those figs from eBay, I would have been sure they're bootlegs. It's so bad that I'm on the brink of calling customer service, but I don't know if that would do any good. Is something like this common? Do others have the same problem (if anyone opened theirs, that is)? I've had figures that were less than perfect before, but never to this degree. -
The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion

Why the polemic? And what does that have to do with what was being said? If you honestly want to challenge the idea that Batman (as well as Superhero stuff in general) has always had and most probably will always have more appeal for boys than for girls (and while I appreciate any anecdotal evidence that says otherwise, I don't consider it to be statistically representative), suit yourself, but there's no reason to turn this into a broader political debate. All that was being said, really, was that significantly more boys went to see the movie and subsequently bought or asked for the sets, and from what I perceived and continue to perceive in theaters and stores, I think that might very well be true. Personally, I don't see why that should be considered a bad thing either, but the poster did not even speak from a moral standpoint rather than from a marketing perspective. Sorry for the rant, I just see so many of these knee-jerk reactions lately, and I really don't get it. -

The Disney Castle 71040 with LED Lights

They should offer a smaller kit with just the exterior lights for a more affordable price. As it is, it feels somewhat overdone, and I'd much rather buy a new Modular Building for the money (yes, it's THAT expensive). -
I'm very firmly situated in the "Meh, much too small and sparse, mediocre minifig selection, too expensive, but the bus is nice" camp. Will have to see if that translates into a buying decision anyway, since I own all the previous WV sets, but if I purchase it, I will do so grudgingly. (And I certainly won't buy multiples to beef it up -- hey, if we keep rewarding LEGO for puny sets like this, they'll never stop churning them out! )

I just bricklinked one and no regrets so far. (The batcave itself is so awful I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole.) It wasn't that bad actually, but if you're going to, do it now, before the set retires.
