Indiana Jones 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Pulp Detective's topic in LEGO Licensed
I know you’re just kidding, but if they dare to delay it AGAIN, they can keep that accursed movie. It’s been delayed so many damn times, enough is enough On the topic of Raiders of the Lost DoD Sets: In my estimation, everything hinges on the official announcement. If they just randomly drop the sets on s@h, then it‘s probably over. I mean, they‘re already revealing sets scheduled for August. If they announce the theme, it would make sense to at least mention the DoD sets too, right? -

The Snub Fighter and N1 microfighter have both been revealed! Vane and the pilot indeed share the same faceprint, but at least Vane‘s bandana is a completely new piece -

FTFY You got one thing wrong though: 77014 exists, and it’s for free even! It‘s a bunch of air that comes in a box that’s conveniently also made of air. Even the minifigs are made of air. It‘s as good-looking as you want it to be! And it doesn‘t require any shelf space -

That’s what I’m wondering too. You could make the case for the ToD, but the DoD sets?! And don‘t tell me they were pushed back to 2024 or some nonsense. In that case, they might as well just bury them all in a tomb for future archeologists to find as nobody would buy them so long after the movie came out. It‘s now or never! -

Has to be one of these: One or multiple of the unknown sets are underwhelming One or multiple sets got cancelled The known information is partially incorrect, e.g., in regard to the number of minifigs Hope it’s the first option -

What could be bad enough to warrant such a reaction? The buildable Chewy being the $600 set instead of the $200 one? Then again, it‘s the SW fandom. They eat you alive for far less than that -

So, Mario gets a big reveal this Friday and Mando sets are also rumoured to be announced this week, probably after the new episode airs, i.e., Wednesday or Thursday. So, if they plan to do it this week, there aren’t too many options left as they don’t usually make multiple announcements on the same day. Fingers crossed for Tuesday or Wesnesday! -

Yeah, the whole thing’s just weird. I still have some hope that there’s a good explanation for all of this, but the future of this theme ain’t looking too bright I’m bracing myself for these three sets being all there is to this theme Not saying that’s definitely the case as we still have no concrete information, but I just want to avoid further disappointment -

Sure. The surprising thing is more that the return of the theme hasn’t been announced yet, even though the sets are already on shelves. Trolls, Minions, Avatar etc got fancy press releases months in advance, and Indy hasn’t gotten anything beyond a teaser in a Smyths catalogue They can still do it of course, it’s just a bit of an odd strategy in my opinion. For instance, they could’ve capitalised on the debut of the DoD tailer like other merch partners did. Or during the toyfairs, like they did with the Harry Potter return in 2018! …If they still announced anything to the public there, which they don’t -

Not only is there a much more iconic line in that movie, it‘s also from that very scene! But something tells me they‘re not gonna release a printed piece with HELL written on it -

Only two minifigs in the Snubfighter?! They‘re cool and all, but not exactly a huge draw. Hopefully the other set‘s minifig lineup can make up for that -

BrickBob Studpants replied to Pulp Detective's topic in LEGO Licensed
True. There are no real patterns to reveals While it may be wishful thinking, there could be a good reason they‘ve been holding back on the reveal. Perhaps they intend to announce the entire range at once, which wouldn‘t be inconceivable. In that case, it would make sense to wait until the first wave is (almost) on shelves -

It feels like this thread is going in circles At this point, we just need to wait for the official announcement. New (or returning) themes usually get some sort of press release, and there we should see if they have anything in store for us aside from the three confirmed sets. For example, there has to be a BrickHeadz set too! We can start panicking if DoD arrives in theatres and we still haven’t heard anything -

Yes. I know it's kind of cheating as Le Chiffre wouldn't make any sense in a Speed Champions set, but they still have the Craig era 007 license, so in my mind, it counts -

Granted, the fact we haven't anything since July is kinda odd, plus the omission in the official DoD merch announcement in January, but I don't think they just cancelled the entire DoD range. Maybe the sets are all exclusive or something. That'd be like introducing Avatar and not do anything based on Avatar 2, or starting Star Wars in 1999 but not releasing any sets based on TPM. Or doing LOTR without The Hobbit in 2012. Let's hope we get a big press announcement soon that clarifies things! ...or maybe they'll just shadowdrop the April sets on s@h
