  1. @Bigdwazda That’s a very nice Mod! Good use of the set, it’s always nice to see superficial improvements that add a lot without needing a rebuild. Especially like the details at the back, great work.
  2. These are wonderful, well done!! That hidden mirror on the last one is extremely clever and as a fan of micro builds I absolutely love the Sarlacc pit. And that Bantha is just mind blowingly good.
  3. I’ve had the pieces sitting in a box since December, this week I finally made the time to rebuild my Falcon and take a few photos! Big thanks to Seejay over at Rebrickable (not sure if you’re on here too mate?) for his help refining the instructions and correcting a few mistakes. I’ve got this little guy displayed in my living room, my wife is much happier with this over a UCS Falcon, which I haven’t got the balls to splash out on... yet. I updated the top of my post with the photos, here are the original Studio renders, plus a bit of nostalgia :)
  4. Great work with these! Red Ace and Fireball are particularly good, but are the quarter-circle tiles on the wing tips the correct way round? I’m no good with minifigure parts but have recently been playing with the white boarders on leftover used sticker sheets, the glue goes soft (great for removal/repositioning) if you warm them with a hair drier and they warp slightly if you keep the heat on and get them a bit hotter. You may be able to cut a tiny white triangle and a square and get them to stick firmly and warp to the curves on the helmet. The triangle at least would definitely work, hold the sticker down with tweezers while you heat! I can’t say I enjoyed what little I saw of the series, it didn’t compare to Rebels but then I haven’t given it much of a chance.
  5. @Valentin Mumble You’re welcome! I’m not sure if I corrected the axle length mistake in the Stud.io file so definitely check that before you order, I’ve had a busy few months and forgot all about the mistake but I’m the new year I’ll do some proper instructions for the mod!
  6. @Valentin Mumble, looks like he’s used an 11mm wheel, fairly common so shouldn’t be hard to source :) https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=42610&idColor=86#T=C&C=86
  7. @Flandy I think we might have bought from the same guy, hopefully he comes through! The retail price is far too high for this set and the perceived value of the whole wave is all over the place but this X-Wing does look great, I probably would’ve spent £90 at the end of January because I’m weak willed. @Bob De Quatre great review and very nice photos, thank you!
  8. Very well done, it looks great! And thanks for the Studio file too. I’m tempted to mod my old black X-Wing, it’s a beauty but has been packed away and forgotten for a while now, do you reckon you’ll build this version for real? I can imagine it’s a substantial mod but just about doable, comparing parts lists won’t be much fun though :)
  9. One thing I’m terrible at is building settings, so I thought I’d see what I could do in Stud.io with a 32x32 base plate for this Falcon.
  10. Thanks! The shape gave me headaches for so long, discovering that those 2x2 wedge pieces were the best angle for the mandibles was a blessing and a curse. For a while the insides of the mandibles were mostly made of them too and I’m sure you can imagine they were so weak and that parts order cost a lot on Bricklink too. It’s much simpler now :)
  11. “She may not look like much but she’s got it where it counts, kid.” Instructions are available over at Rebrickable I’ve been working on this Micro Millennium Falcon for about three years now, in that time she’s evolved from a simple modified Microfighter into a chunky little micro build. I wanted to get the proportions as accurate as possible but couldn’t resist throwing in an interior. I tried to incorporate as many of the Falcon’s distinguishing features as I could, like the exterior holes, coloured panels and vents, interior layout and most importantly the Dejarik table (I always let that Wookiee win). I built it so that both halves are studs-out and there is as much detail on the underneath of the hull as there is on top. The upper and lower hull sections interlock in a complicated way and are held together by the side docking rings. The sandwiching adds a surprising amount of strength to the the weaker areas of the upper half as well as adding a fun challenge mid way through the build, there’s no room for mistakes or wonky 1x1 plates! This MOC is a final update to the Micro Falcon I posted earlier in the year, it still looks similar but has a much stronger structure and some improved cosmetic details in a ridiculous attempt at movie accuracy. My biggest sticking point over the year was coming up with of a better way to represent the tunnel. The 2x2 round-topped brick only ever fit at a 45 degree angle (not quite right for the ship) and because of this the cockpit was too far forward. In the end I just gave up and replaced it with some wedge plates which I think look good enough and if nothing else help to improve the strength in that corner. And this is one of the many dirty render and research collages I’ve stared at thoughtfully and scribble illegible notes on. So that’s my Micro Falcon done and dusted. It’s been a fun project and I’ve learned a lot about putting together Stud.io instructions along the way. I hope you get as much joy from this little Falcon as I have from working on it. Now, Chewie, punch it!
  12. More great minis, really well done! I still want to see the whole lot displayed together, I personally think tiny builds like yours look very good alone but great as a collection! I’ve just been playing catch up on your minis since Outrider, more great work but I especially love Han’s stolen speeder, very clever indeed.
  13. Very nicely done, he’s beautiful! It’s a very clever build too, thanks for sharing the instructions. And thanks for the D-0 instructions too! I built him a few weeks ago, he looks truly excellent.
  14. @Jobi Thank you! The cockpit does rotate actually, the front half (trans black pieces and ingots) attach to a 1x1 brick with studs on all sides an that is connected to the back by one stud, so it spins. The semi-circle plates on the back half need rearranging to match the front though, unfortunately I couldn’t find a better way to build the cockpit, I’ll keep working on it though and when I get a chance I’ll add a picture of the B-Wing flying vertically. @obijon Thanks very much! I had a few of the poly bag and advent calendar fighters too but the lack of detail was always disappointing, so in typical me-fashion I tried to do better. I’d be keen to see if you could do better too ?
  15. Hi everyone, About a year ago I was inspired by @obijon’s amazing and very extensive collection of micro builds to start working on my own micro versions of my favourite Star Wars ships. I think I have enough of them now to get all cocky (what’s that Han?) and start sharing instructions on Rebrickable so here’s the first wave, the Rebel Starfighters. Update: I’ve thrown together some Resistance variants too! The X-Wing, A-Wing and B-Wing are fairly solid little builds, at this scale one-stud connections are inevitable but luckily these are still kind of swooshable, as long as you’re careful! The A-Wing is my favourite, I went through so many real and Stud.io prototypes trying to get the shape, fins and connections right that I’m so pleased I finally ended up with a strong and recognisable build. The Y-Wing is the most fragile of the group, it’s almost all one-stud connections, particularly to the centre of the hull, so unfortunately it’s only suitable for display. I’m aiming to build several of each fighter as part of a micro Rebel hangar display and with that in mind I tried to stay away from rare/expensive parts. Having said that I couldn’t resist using the skate helmets on the Y-Wing and my liberal use of those little curved slopes with notches pushes the cost up a bit too. Oh well, you can’t build a rebellion on peanuts! Back in the spring my first attempt at making instructions in Stud.io was actually this U-Wing. I managed to build the rear of the ship so that the wings fold out but there are so many weak connections that it means the wings are very fragile. I also have to admit that I cheated when connecting the engines, to keep those wheel pieces in place I wrapped a layer of tape around the internal 3L bars and pushed the wheels on. I’m still on the hunt for a better (and legal) solution and I’m open to suggestions! Update: I’ve just finished a few Resistance variants of the Starfighters, almost in time for The Rise of Skywalker. The B-Wing involved a lot of guesswork as it’s only very briefly seen in the film and trailers, but it was the same with the old B-Wing and Return of The Jedi so I suppose it’s a Star Wars tradition that’s been upheld. Overall I’m really pleased with how all these little ships have turned out and especially how they look together as a group. I’ll share more micro starfighter instructions (the next is the Millennium Falcon) when I can and if we get a good look at the new B-Wing in TRoS I’ll be able to finish the Resistance version of the starfighter group too. All my MOC and MOD instructions so far are here, I’m always grateful for any comments and criticisms. Thanks for looking and down with the space nazis!
  16. @thenightman89, I’ll stick one on Reddit on Christmas Day!
  17. @thenightman89 Thanks! I’ve since been told the instructions are available, so this is a bit pointless, unless it saves someone an hour of wishlisting parts, oh well. Just bought your Pride Rock instructions to make a kit for my wife for Christmas by the way, it looks excellent. @TheDeeGee It does you’re right, I really wish I’d picked that one up!
  18. I don’t have the space (or money!) for the amazing new Batmobile, but I do for that mini one 40433. It’s always disappointing when these limited edition freebies looks so brilliant but aren’t widely available, at least for now, but this time there are just enough review photos of the build that I thought I could reverse-engineer it and build one for myself. I had to make a few guesses for the internal structure but I think what I’ve managed is solid and most importantly cheap, the parts only cost around £25. Here’s a link to my Stud.io model, in case you want one too :)
  19. That’s a really good use of those wheel arch pieces, you’ve achieved some great shaping without losing the slightly chunky Lego look. I think some round Tie ball MOCs look impressive but a little bit too smooth and the balls don’t blend well with exposed studs and chunky features on the arms and wings, but not yours, very nice work!
  20. Great review, thanks for this! Lovely photos too and thanks for lining up all of your A-Wings for the comparison, that’s always an interesting shot to do with these redesigned ships. Personally I can’t leave a Lego set alone, there’s always a few design shortcomings I can’t help but try to fix and I was a bit disappointed with the length and shaping around the ‘wings’ on this one. I think the set needed to be a stud wider on either side and two studs longer to really capture the ship properly, but at least it’s an easily modified set. The engine areas and shaping around the cockpit look great though, the tail parts for the ‘fins’ seem to suit the Resistance A-Wing even better than the old RoTJ one. The price is really good, it’s nice to have a significant ship and main character for such a low cost, and talking of the pilot it’s exciting to see that Snap remains a side character worthy of his own sets! I’m also a big Alias and JJ Abrams fan so I’m always happy to see his old crew.
  21. I’m definitely keen to see some mods to the new Falcon, especially something to close those gaps at the corners of the mandibles and also tackle the lack of rim and greebling behind the cockpit. I haven’t had a chance to see if this would fit the new set but I added some cockpit detail to the 2015 Falcon... To get Chewie in you have to lower the floor by one stud, perch him on the floor and bend his arm back behind whoever is in the pilot seat. It’s a squeeze but at least he’s in!
  22. Thanks! Apart from needing the mod this set seems much cheaper than average for Star Wars and if nothing else it’s a good pile of parts for your own moc, I think you might need to get this one :)
  23. Hi everyone! I was a huge fan of the X-Wing games growing up and the A-Wing was by far my favourite ship to hoon around in, I was definitely a pew-pew-pew... oh no what have I done, run away kind of guy! Being a bit disappointed with the 75175 A-Wing I modified my old set a while ago to widen it and subtly improve the shape of the body to be a bit more of a convincing 'A'. Following on from that I've given the new Resistance RZ2 A-Wing a similar shaping treatment! As with most of my mods I've tried to reuse all of the parts that I take off and then add the fewest number of common pieces possible. The modified ships aren't movie-accurate but do remain solid. I really don't want to get into the situation again that I did with my TFA Millennium Falcon where I'd changed so much that the structure was compromised and added so many pieces that there was no way to replicate it... with that in mind, here are some visual instructions that I hope will help others who are also mostly happy but a tiny bit disappointed with the 75175 and 75248 sets, but still want their A-Wing fix :) Snap Wexley's Reistance A-Wing RZ2 I stripped back the wings, removing the 2x3 inverted slopes from next to the guns, and removed the upper area of the nose as well as the black plates with dark green decorative parts next to the cockpit, the remaining ship was fortunately still fairly solid. The 2 white 1x2 plates and 2 white 2x6 plates (4 2x3s will work too) were the only essential extra parts for the wing shaping, these are structural and all the other extra pieces are all cosmetic. I originally repurposed four of the dark blueish grey 1x2s from the nose internals for the modified longer top of the nose as they’re weren't originally structural, they looked okay but then I had some luck found some spares of the plates in dark green in my spares. There are 2 white 1x8 plates to boost the top fins up a bit and 2 white 1x1 slopes for the leading point of the top fins, these slopes replace 2 white 1x1 plates which I needed for the modified wing internals but I think aren't structurally essential. As mod to hold the engines at the correct angle with no movement I jammed 2 1x1 plates into the underside of the light blueish grey 2x6 plate that sits above the Technic links (with blue friction pins) connecting the engines to the rear of the ship. It was tricky, a real squeeze and definitely an illegal technique but it does a solid job. There’s also an extra 2x3 inverted slope under the nose, I forgot about that in the parts list picture, sorry! And finally I swapped around those green tiles with the white stickers on so the green area tapers towards the back of the cockpit, I'm pretty sure that how they're supposed to be. Arvel Crynyd's Rebel A-Wing RZ1 I like to think it's the one that finished off The Executer! I similarly stripped away the wing area and rebuilt the mod with a few extra pieces. There are 2 extra 3L Technic axles to extend the guns out by 1 stud, these are I suppose the least common extra parts but I've struggled to work out a structurally solid way to extend the guns without them. The rest are easily sourced and hidden away under the upper fins are 2 dark blueish grey 1x2 modified plates (with rails) that help keep the wings at the correct angle. Tallie Lintra's Resistance A-Wing RZ2 I really loved the opening scene of The Last Jedi and Tallie, despite being in the film so briefly, was awesome. Luckily she was included in Battlefront 2, as you can imagine her hero ship became my new favourite for hooning! I'm still waiting on a few parts for this major overhaul of 75175 and I'm also working on instructions (which I’m not very good at, but I’m learning!). I'll post them all here when I'm done but here's a Stud.io render for now. @Gumbinger deserves a lot of credit for his amazing recent MOC, it was my inspiration for my MOD and I stole his excellent idea of using the blue 2x2 round tiles for the blue stripes, so thanks!
  24. I’ve been meaning to post a comment for a while too, you’ve done such an excellent job of capturing the look and proportions of the RZ-2, and thanks for doing instructions for the three colours, brilliant work! I love the shaping around the cockpit, very smart move mounting it all on the upside down base, that’s the sort of problem solving I enjoy seeing on eurobricks. I also really like the blue curved tiles on the hull, I hope you don’t mind but I’ve borrowed your idea for my RZ-2, I’m trying to mod 75175 (and the new A-Wing when it’s out) in as few pieces as possible and little details like this have helped a lot.
