Love those rims, will definitely do a similar upgrade :) -

Since the test sequences are available in the app you actually don't have to. -
42100 QA Issues

The benefit of Control+ and the test sequences is that it helps you to verify if the motors are built in and working correctly, not simply see if they are running or not. Btw you can easily connect the motors to a train hub and see if they work :) -
If you check the instructions at the end of each set of bags you'll find an image that tells you to perform a test in the app. The app has 4 test stages so you'll be able to test each section with the motors. Here's the first test in my review video. The second test had a bug in the beta app (and I was told it's still there in the public version as well), despite only having one motor connected to the second hub after finishing the second batch of bags, you need to connect all motors to the second hub otherwise the app won't connect to it and won't perform the test.

I was pretty confident it'll be corrected in the public version, reported the bug like 3 weeks ago

@agrof thanks, I also enjoyed this new approach. I'm afraid it won't work with smaller sets as there're less interesting steps to show but we'll see @Enantiomeer you're right, I still have to disassemble and clean the set and I really don't feel motivated @suffocation it made the beams surprisingly stable, I really like the approach and will definitely try to use it in the future.

Here's my video with details from the building process, review and a field test in the quarry:

@Timorzelorzworz the Powered Up app can't connect to the Technic hub yet. An update is expected for November/December that will enable the app to properly control the hub and the new motors, and hopefully will add multi-hub support as well.

I expect something like this one. -

That seems to be the 42077 B model with the Defender's colour scheme. Unfortunately a lot of parts does not exist in this colour. -
I don't know why would this be TLG's fault or anything to do on their side. Did you contact the shop where you got the set? I'd suggest to complain to them. They are the ones who are ignoring TLG's release date for profit, they should get the negative feedback. Btw reviewers get an early access to the app to be able to do a full review.

I don't think there is or there will be any multiplexer for PU unless you're willing to sacrifice a PU light and create a PF converter like I did and use some stacked PF motors. There's no exceptional power cut for 42099 so there's nothing to fix. The behaviour is very similar to the PF XL motors, you can check a direction comparison with a PF version of 42099 here.
-
Same characteristics but different internal gearing, if you gear down the PU XL motor with a 12T/20T you'll get a similar speed.

Maybe I'm missing something (I don't have the Unimog) but according to bricklink 42082 and 8110 have the same tires. Meanwhile I realised that I have my Defender stripped down so I won't be able to take a photo of the full setup, but with the full body on the tires were almost touching the wheel arches so without a stiffer suspension or a height adjustment those tires won't fit. @tomek9210 it's almost 3 studs deep: -

If you check my video I had one mounted, I can take a photo later with a full setup. Basically it is too big, the car won't move. -

Yes, that'd be also a problem, so there're more reasons why the clutch gears cannot be swapped. Rearranging the gear selector and this whole middle section might be a solution, but flipping the stickers is actually still easier :) -
The Control+ app will allow you currently to use 2 XL and 1 L motors with the 42099 profile. Once 42100 will be available it will be able to connect two 2 hubs with more motors connected but again only with an interface designed for that specific set. The Powered Up app will have a free control area where you can create your own Boost-style control sequences or use a customisable interface. Unfortunately this app does not support the Technic hub yet, as I read the update is expected around November/December. About the hub-motor compatibility, as @imurvai mentioned everything should be working with everything within the Powered Up family, if there's a limitation then its up to the app that controls it. The most versatile solution currently is BrickController 2, the free coding area of the Powered Up app can be used as well but as I said it only connects to the AAA hub or the Boost hub.
-
A potential connection issue with the Control+ app can be if you don't have all the motors connected and to their proper ports. The app will only finish the connection sequence if you connect the XL motors to A & B and the L motor to port C. I suggest you to try it with a set of fully charged batteries or a set of alkalines. If you have everything set up properly and you still can't connect or your hub won't switch off then it is not a normal behaviour, you should contact customer services. I am constantly using 3 hubs with different motors and never had any similar issues.

You can't switch them easily, there's not enough space for the blue clutch gear if you'd like to swap it with the red one. The yellow extension ring is right next to the red clutch gear. -

So here's my quick fix: 1. turn the + - sticker upside down 2. remove the Hi / Lo sticker, cut it in half, apply the parts swapped 3. proper shifting sequence :) -

I still think it's either both stickers are correct or both are incorrect. If you follow the power coming from the wheels, when it reaches the hi/lo selector in lo gear it is geared down with a 16T/20T gearing. This means the fake engine will run slower in lo mode and it will run faster in hi mode. This is the same behaviour as the gearbox has, lower gears make the engine run slower, higher gears make the engine run faster.
