  1. Well, compared to the big elements that include nose and windshield, like used in the Helicopter Rescue from 2012 (http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=4429-1), I prefer this windshield. I think this is more in line with a traditional windshield, and the nose can be brickbuilt. I would prefer to use this as a windshield for bigger aircrafts.
  2. It is a really great police station. Classic town architecture, but many details "hidden" inside. I really like the glass wall. All in all, an inspiration for my own plans of expanding my police station. I look forward to see more of your MOC/MODing of classic town sets
  3. Dear all, First of all, thank you very much for your very kind replies. I am really happy with the result, but really appreciate all your comments and suggentions. I am particulary satisfied with the grill bricks, forming the two "columns" on the facade. The are supposed to break the relatively bare front. Regarding the centre "arch" on the roof, I have raised it by one brick, so it is taller than the windows. It makes it look even better. I will, though, consider to make it more rounded (but it has to wait until a later PAB order). I am also happy for the chandelier. I really admire the one of GE, but obviously, mine has to be smaller. And I managed it. Maybe you cannot see it on these pictures, but the lamps on the front of the building have got the same shape as one side of the chandelier, but a little smaller. /laka Edit: Forgot to write that my immediate inspiration was the former Hertie Kaufhaus in Görlitz: http://www.flickr.co...imo/6653006297/. As you can see, it is not a much decorated architechture.
  4. After almost two years here on Eurobricks, it must be time I present a MOC of mine. For a long time I have had my eyes on the Grand Emporium. But times are not to buy it. But I would like my (future) city to have a department store, so when I got the chance to place a PAB order, I finished my ideas for the building, and came up with this. I am quite happy with the result. It is not a modular building, as I do not have got any for the time being. So all my buildings are in the classic town style. It will be an integral part of the city centre. Exterior The front of the department store. Even though we have passed the seasons, I have decorated the building for Christmas. Interior The interior of the department store. It is a temporary interior, I have not made the final version. I will browse the forum for inspiration (Lightningtiger, I might "borrow" from you ). But the departments are placed where I would like them to be. From the ground floor and up, you find: Jewelery, perfumes and clothes; home and glassware; and on the top floor toys and a cafe. Thanks for watching. C&C are welcome
  5. This work looks really promising, gazumpty. It's quite interesting to see such a MOD(ification) of the police station. I might get some inspiration for a further wing to my own police station which I am planning. Regarding your architectural problems with the doors and windows, have you been thinking about putting black bricks above the door? It might give an impression that the door is at the same height as the windows. The only thing is that it will also make the outside construction for the sign look more heavy.
  6. It's great to see the new developments in Ballabreek, Greg3. It could be interesting to see a little more dense town, not least a bigger residential area. And I hope the trams are running again after the holidays
  7. Welcome to Eurobricks, Cheezus. And what an entrance to the forum. These lights make the Winter Village absolutely stunning. Really a great job A Merry Christmas to you!
  8. Merry Christmas to you and your family, too, LT. It's good to see an "everyday" LEGO town with Christmas decorations. But... But... Where is the snow? Here in Denmark, we have got snow right now. But we have got temperatures above 0 degrees (Celsius... ;o) And they expect rain. But I hope, it will not come, so we can have a white Christmas... (written at the same time as "I Dreaming of a White Christmas" is being played at the radio). Btw, I like the way, you have made the signal with the diagonally placed lights. And I am pretty sure, your train will turn out just fine.
  9. Long time, no see this project. As usually, LT, you make incredible buildings. Small, classic style buildings, but so richly detailed. I look forward to see something on the track ;) Keep up the good work.
  10. Very nice modular building, Cunctator. I like the simple architecture and the blue colour. But what I also like is the the small square/yard behind the buildings. I just took a look at your city, it also looks very nice indeed

  13. I would not mind to mix 80's LEGO with LEGO of today. It will in fact happen when I get space for my city. There is one thing, though, and that is the size difference between old and new trucks, I think. For example, I am the happy owner of both the 1984 Shell tanker truck (6695) and the 2012 Octan tank truck (3180). The latter one being more than double the length of the former one. And of course also 2 studs wider. Well, I'm planning to remove 1/3 of the length of the tank to make it shorter and more mobile on the street. Otherwise, I think it's ok with 4 studs cars and 6 studs trucks and busses. Regarding aircraft and helicopters, I prefer the four stud wide ones of the 80s and 90s. I have one of the big widebody aircraft, but I'm not planning to mix that with my fleet of smaller aircraft. And the helicopter of the new hospital, I am thinking what to do... But in general, I think the buildings more or less fit each other. But as SalvoBrick suggests, it might not be a good idea to mix the modular buildings with classic style (and sized) buildings. But I cannot rule out that some of the classic sized buildings will grow a little bit - so the cars are not too big compared to the buildings
  14. Indeed a particular street, alois. So richly detailed. It's really beatiful houses, you have built. And I like the tram alot. TheLegoDr, in some streets, trams are operated in "mixed traffic" together with cars. Typically it's in more narrow streets where it's not possible to give the tram it's own right of way. But of course the optimal situation is when the tram has got it's own right of way. But it often depends on the age of the system and the streets it's running through.
  15. Great updates, Greg3 Like Lightningtiger, I was also worried about the satellite lauching facility I'm happy to see the tram line is back to Ballabreek, now upgraded to a modern light rail line. I hope that on hot summer days, the old trams will still be operated for tourists I'm sure, it will make the village bloom again. I like how you have integrated the tram stop with the new square, it all fits the village - and the spirit of a thriving village - very well. I'm looking forward to see further updates. Laka
  16. Congratulations on the new world record
  17. Good luck to all of you, Henrik. I am excited to see the result. I like the layout, interesting pattern. And funny to see it's blue tracks
  18. It is really a truly amazing building, you have made, castor-troy. The beautiful architecture combined with the finely detailed rooms. I just wonder what old "treasures" are hiding in the attics
  19. Really nice layout, SalvoBrick. I like your modular buildings. Though I miss some corner buildings with facades on two sides. Especially a building in front of the railway station could very be inspired by the Cafe Corner and serve as a local hotel and cafe. I can't wait to see the "finished" result of your town with interior and life in the streets.
  20. Hehehe... "Christiansenburg". What a great tribute to the Lego-family. I think it sounds really interesting, the project you and your husband have got. I really would like to follow that. I hope you can find a bigger place so soon
  21. It's a wonderful MOD of the CC, dede la fee. I work in a hotel, so I always like to see how people make the details in Lego. And you have really nice details here. Though I must admit that I wonder how people should get to the second bed in the twin room on the second floor. Climb over the first bed? "Ole Kirk's Café"
  22. It's a really beautiful building, Brickcitydepot. I have worked in an old hotel, so I recognize some of the features, you have built. I espcially like the painting Though the stairway is impressive, I also think it's a bit too dominant in the hall. If you want some more space in the hotel (e.g. for a bar/café), the stairway could be narrower - 8 studs instead of 10, and it could be moved to the right, along the wall. But otherwise, it's a really impressive piece of work /Laka
  23. Sorry, 1974, that's not true. TDC actually wanted the phonebooths to be red, and in some places they actually were, as can be seen from this link http://www.fotojesper.dk/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=765. But they were also dark blue and green, depending on the colour of the street furniture in the town/city. /laka
  24. Go to Airliners.net. A wonderful homepage with tons of pictures of aircraft. Good luck! I look forward to see the process and the result :o)
  25. Beautiful picture. It will be hard to recreate the atmosphere of this place/picture.
