[SR - FotL - cat 1A] Earth Banner Detachment
Professor Thaum replied to Professor Thaum's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
The Lotii are not evil guys, they just have a commandment pushing for conquest. They are probably as friendly as Corrish, Oleonese or Eslandolan. (Not as the Sea Rats, this is well known that we are the devil incarnate ) -
Landscape MOC-ing: Creating Chalk Art
Professor Thaum replied to Peppermint_M's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm struggling with that problem too. By best attempt (but with an ugly rendering imho) was building a rocky landscape in dark bluish gray then change some rock color into white or medium flesh to try to picture a diamond (straight lines much more easy than an animal for my building level) but this is really NOT convincing at the moment . Perhaps with the net building technic should we have some cool render. (it will be my next try) -
Yep, but if the ship is offered, sure he won't refuse !

Coming from the far western reaches of the Empire, here are some troops under the Green Dragon Banner. Two kind of ashigaru with jingasa and sashimono. Backbone of the army, the Empire, is able to dislay a fair amount of them for land combat. A Taiping bowman, originally hunters of the western broad plains, may serve as archer units. A Samurai from Mirumoto clan, elite fighters of the Green Banner, this warriors wield paired swords and carry light armor for more mobility. And a warrior monk from mount Wusong, swift, with no armor but deadly in melee combat. Don't get sidetracked by his cape.

Somewhere on a shore of the Lowers, the Arkham Chaser is beached on a shoal. Thadd : It doesn't look good Ed, Starboard's stringer is crushed, we lost the rudder and there is some sewing works needed for the sails for sure. A luck the standing rigging is alright. Ed : There's a beach not so far and I'm pretty sure it was a mast behind this little cape over there. I will try to find something to repare. Thadd : OK, Ed, and I will do my best to save the sails while you're off. *** Later *** Thadd : Oh ! You were pretty succesful !!! Ed : Sure ! I found everything we need ! Behind the cape stand an embryo of trading post. ( @Maxim I ) Eslandolan one. The opening was full swing with a parade. They were so busy that they didn't notice anything. I even had some time to caulk the wood I borrowed. And I take this boat to carry the stuff. some jury-rigging later, the ship was ready. And so off-shore of the Lowers. Thadd : OK, Ed come a rhumb closer, I have set a course, we are heading straight to Black Rock. A chance we didn't lose the map and the compass when we ran aground on this sand bench. Ed : Sure, I had carefully packed the map around the compass and tied them to my belt when the weather broke. Ed : You may notice that the stars are with us too, look, the course follow this line of stars and... SPLAAAAAAAASSSSSHHHHHH !!! Thadd : REUUUUUUUARGHHHHH !!! Ed : GOSH ! Look at that flipper ! Thadd : This thing is about a cable length !!! Amazing ! Thadd : That giant white whale is icredible Ed, what do you mean ? Ed : Errr... If we tell this to the doctor, he will send us back with another ship to find this whale. Thadd : No doubt, Ed ! Ed : So this is a pity we lost the map wraped around the compass in the storm. "ploof" Thadd : ...and the logbook with the course and coordinates... "ploof" Ed : And we won't speak of that giant whale anymore. Thadd : Of what ? *** later at dusk *** Ed : Oh, Thadd, look at thoses stars ! Perhaps we should follow this line, looks like a course for us ! The Arkham Chaser is not beached anymore. C&C welcome .

I decided to try some piratey catamaran myself some months ago, and finally I come with that. I'm not fully satisfied of all the ships as some are sails that fit not well (oversized or undersized IMHO) Here the Marlin, with a bermudian rigging (sails too small for me) the Sailfish, classical gaff-rigged catamaran. The Kingfish, inspired by Euron Greyjoy's ship in GoT; The Bonefish, a drakkar catamaran, I'm very proud of this one. The Swordfish, with a xebec sail (a little bit too small IMHO too) And the Tarpon, Prao inspired, but the sail feels too scrappy. C&C welcome as usual.
