Baritones 3 Confirmation and Discussion thread
Quarryman replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Interestingly enough the first game that had this rule, as far as I've been able to find, was Infection. But I'm pretty sure we had that rule earlier than that.. does anyone remember? -
Uhm, this seems rather strange, first you refer to a lot of things Benji did and said, and after that you go and vote for Barbara? I guess that was a minor mixup on your part and you actually meant to vote for Benji?

Baritones 3 Confirmation and Discussion thread
Quarryman replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Yes, as explained at the bottom of this post about EB ranks. -
I'd assume it is at least as bad, else it wouldn't be much of a penalty, like Benji and Falicia have already pointed out.
-
The problem with not attempting a vote is that there will be a penalty if we don't reach a conviction, even if we don't have someone we're comfortable with lynching we might have to, so it seems we're between the hammer and the sickle here so to speak.

Morning people, this is certainly a dire situation we find ourselves in. And it will definitely get worse before it gets better, we all have to accept that. Now, I've had some experience in dealing with the mob back in Mother Russia, and I'll tell you, you're always in the dark in the beginning, and it's exceptionally rare that evidence comes falling from the sky, so I wouldn't get my hopes up for that either. And could perhaps someone fetch a drink for me? I seem to have forgotten my vodka in my office at the police station..

Greetings everyone! Chief of Police Ruslana is here to crack some mafia skulls. Don't you dare killing my cross-dressing construction man! -
Fabuland MOC: Croc Brothers Riverside Cottage
Quarryman replied to Cecilie's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Wow! Love the roof (thank $DEITY for LUGBULK, eh? ), and the carpet is brilliant indeed. The only thing missing is a boat, but you can't have it all I guess, and this is so well done anyway, hope to see more Fabuland stuff from you. -
So you're not a girl, you're a transvestite. That makes sense.

Hmm.. I really should take a break from mafia now, promised myself that I'd do that once Belville was over, but still, this is Baritones, can't skip it. 1. Your past Mafia experience My character from Baritones 1 is in the banner. 2. Your availability to post frequently for the next 6-8 weeks Let's see.. going to Finland this weekend, but back Sunday evening and with signups lasting a week that shouldn't be a problem. Apart from that my next offline period will be LEGO Fan Weekend in Skærbæk the 23rd to 25th of September, which I believe is far enough in the future for it not to be a problem. 3. Applied knowledge of the board software's use of the term "portal" I can make you a portal site with EB, the Belville mafia scumboard, and IRC in it? 4. Your most embarrassing moment (yes, there's a reason. If you don't want to share, make one up ) Oh damn.. there's been so many. I guess I'll have to go with the time when I was in the Army, and we were going to be transferred back to the Air Force (which we officially belonged to, but they sent us to the Army for training). So, seeing as we'd worked our megablocks off for about two weeks and was finally done we figured we'd go out and have some beers. And some other alcoholic stuff. So I blacked out at the pub, woke up in the toilet in the basement of the barracks about 2.5 hours later when we were supposed to leave for the airport. Then, as I was leaving the toilet I met our platoon leader who asked if I was okay, to which I replied "yeah, I'm fine". 30 seconds later I puked out the window, which was facing the square where the rest of the platoon and the company officers were waiting.

Thanks, I love you too, you know that I can agree on this game favouring the scum slightly, but I wanted to try one without Night Actions, and having the distribution be 11/2 meant the town just rolled over the scum all the time. (yes, I do run simulations for this). I do not agree about the scum being favoured in Infection though, the town had a ton of powerful Night Actions, and reserves for several of them (both cop and vigilante for instance), but the town just sucked badly in that one. As for Cornelia's gun that was just thrown in to make the "yet another person killed in bed" scene being a little different and hopefully less boring. (as you can surely see my setups for this game were limited (note to self: Belville scale stuff needs to be insanely huge)). Looking forward to that, though I don't think I'll be signing up. I'm sure it will be as awesome as your games always are.
-
Of course they weren't aware, but they did figure it out after a while. But yes, that no one knew that there weren't Night Actions in play wasn't exactly classic Mafia, good point. Also, I was for a while pondering assigning all sorts of useless, but real, roles that couldn't influence the game to give the impression that there was a lot of Night Actions involved. Things like having enablers and reserves for roles not in play, but I decided against it. It would also have caused a lot more work to go through all those PMs and reply to them.

Later that Night Petra was waiting for the end. She knew how close they had been to getting it all figured out, and also how horribly wrong they had been. And to prove her right little Rupert entered carrying a minigun. "Good evening cousin, I've come to kill you!" Ratatatatatatatat. And then little Petra went to join her parents in the afterlife, if there is such a thing. Elsewhere Tammo had was hiding in the bathroom, trying as best he could to shut the world out. Unfortunately for Tammo his wife knew just where to find him.. "Oh hi baby! Surprised to see me? And would you look at this, a gun! Time to say goodbye sweetie!" Blam! Blam! Blam! And thus died Tammo, shot in the gut. At which point Quentin entered along with Rupert. "Congratulations, you have proven that you're more than worthy of taking over the business empire once I'm gone, and seeing as I don't have much time left it looks like you'll be taking over pretty soon." So, congratulations to the winners, Rufus and Ricecracker, Not Loyal!. Quentin de Belle-ville, head of the Belle-ville family (NPC, host character) played by Quarryman Players: Richelle de Belle-ville - married to Tammo played by Ricecracker, Not Loyal Rupert Spalkowa - son of Irena and Sammy, brother of Amy played by Rufus, Not Loyal Petra Steinethaler, only child of James and Cornelia played by def (replaced Peanuts), Loyal Tammo de Belle-ville, second son of Quentin from his first marriage, married to Richelle played by Captain Tamamono, Loyal Sammy Spalkowa, married to Irena, father of Rupert and Amy played by Sandy, voted off on Day 1 Loyal Henry de Belle-ville, oldest son of Quentin from his first marriage, married to Dragana played by Hinckley, killed during Night 1 Loyal Irena Spalkowa - only child from Quentin's second marriage, married to Sammy, mother of Rupert and Amy played by Shadows, voted off on Day 2 Not Loyal Jacob Steinethaler - married to Cornelia, father of Petra played by JimButcher, killed during Night 2 Loyal Dragana de Belle-ville - married to Henry played by Dragonator, voted off on Day 3 Loyal Daniel de Belle-ville - youngest son of Quentin from his first marriage, married to Fuchsia played by dannylonglegs, killed during Night 3 Loyal Amy Spalkowa - daughter of Irena and Sammy, sister of Rupert played by iamded, voted off on Day 4 Loyal Cornelia Steinethaler - younger sister of Quentin, married to James, mother of Petra. played by CorneliusMurdock, killed during Night 4 Loyal Fuchsia de Belle-ville - married to Daniel played by Fugazi, voted off on Day 5 Loyal Okay, so that was it. I hope my beloved players don't hate me too much. First of all, yes, the Loyals didn't have any Night Actions, and the only Night Action the Not Loyals had was that they could kill one person each Night. So this game was the purest form of Mafia as it was played in the 80s. I wanted to run this as an experiment to see if it worked, and as it all came down to just 1 vote deciding the outcome I think it worked decently well. (I'm confident that if Rufus had been convicted Ricecracker would have followed the next Day and the Loyals would have won). I'm not sure if 13 players was perhaps too few though, that probably could do with some discussion. Second, I'm really sorry for all the delays there have been, and the crappy quality of the pictures, I really should have known better than to attempt to run a game in July, a month where a lot of stuff happens. (and that I had to find a new place to live during this month certainly didn't help either). But, everything's done now, so I can take a break from EB Mafia for a while. At least that is the plan. Thanks to everyone for playing, it's been great fun to host. Now, feel free to flame, praise or whatever, I'm sure there are some players who have a lot they want to say.

Vote count: Rupert Spalkowa / Rufus: 2 (Fugazi, def) Fuchsia de Belle-ville: 3 (Rufus, Captain Tamamono, Ricecracker) The Day has ended with the conviction of Fuchsia, it is now Night. Please get those Night Actions in as soon as possible.

Day 5 Cornelia wasn't so much trying to sleep as just waiting, after her husband got killed she'd had trouble sleeping, and this Night was no exception. What was different though, was that this Night her waiting was not in vain, a certain mysterious figure entered her room and pulled a gun at her. "Well Cornelia, it seems you're about to join your husband, wherever he may be." "Well, think again scumbag! I have a little surprise for you!" "Oh, you mean that gun of yours that I emptied out earlier and filled with blanks? Yeah, really scary that one." Blam! And then Cornelia was as dead as her husband. "Okay people, this is the situation: Amy who you voted off yesterday was Loyal, and my sister Cornelia was also Loyal. So unless you guys are really clever today I fear we'll all be dead soon. Now, get to work." Rules (stolen mainly from Hinckley this time): 1. Each player has been given a character to play, who is either Loyal or Not Loyal. To win the game, the Loyal must kill off all the Not Loyals, while the Not Loyals needs to outnumber the Loyals. 2. Each day you will vote to lynch a player. Voting should be done in the following format; Vote: Character (Player). Similarly, un-voting is to be done in the format; Un-vote: Character (Player). No other format will be accepted, and please note the use of bold text. A majority vote is required to lynch a player. When a majority vote is reached the Day ends. Un-voting after the majority has been reached won't be counted. 3. A game day will last a maximum of 48 hours. You may not vote in the first 16 hours. After the day has concluded, a Night stage will commence, which will last a maximum of 24 hours. 4. If a Day ends without someone being convicted there will be a random death among the non-voters (yes, this means it's technically possible to have a Day end without someone dying, but that's unlikely) 5. The alignment of lynched players will be revealed at the beginning of the next Day, as well as those that died during the Night. 6. You may not quote or pretend to quote anything sent to you by the game host via PM. This includes all the details of your character and role, as well as any night action results. Role claims and reporting of night action results are acceptable, but only in your own words. Do not attempt to use the structure of your role PM to your advantage. 7. The usage of any form of communication outside the Day threads are strictly forbidden (except for the Not Loyals which have their own writeboard for this) 8. You may not edit your posts. 1st offence: stern warning, 2nd offence: The untimely death of your character, the end of your game, and endless ridicule. 9. You must post in every day thread. One day without a post and your character will be killed with extreme prejudice. 10. There are no clues in the pictures or the text accompanying them. Any attempt at using them as such will result in instant death of your character, no warnings, no exceptions, no second chances. The only clues you'll get in the opening post for the Day is whether a person who was killed (either during the Night or convicted the previous Day) was Loyal or Not Loyal. 11. If you encounter a problem or have a question, please contact the host via PM. Quentin de Belle-ville, head of the Belle-ville family (NPC, host character) played by Quarryman Players: Fuchsia de Belle-ville - married to Daniel played by Fugazi Richelle de Belle-ville - married to Tammo played by Ricecracker Rupert Spalkowa - son of Irena and Sammy, brother of Amy played by Rufus Petra Steinethaler, only child of James and Cornelia played by def (replaced Peanuts) Tammo de Belle-ville, second son of Quentin from his first marriage, married to Richelle played by Captain Tamamono The Dead Sammy Spalkowa, married to Irena, father of Rupert and Amy played by Sandy, voted off on Day 1 Loyal Henry de Belle-ville, oldest son of Quentin from his first marriage, married to Dragana played by Hinckley, killed during Night 1 Loyal Irena Spalkowa - only child from Quentin's second marriage, married to Sammy, mother of Rupert and Amy played by Shadows, voted off on Day 2 Not Loyal Jacob Steinethaler - married to Cornelia, father of Petra played by JimButcher, killed during Night 2 Loyal Dragana de Belle-ville - married to Henry played by Dragonator, voted off on Day 3 Loyal Daniel de Belle-ville - youngest son of Quentin from his first marriage, married to Fuchsia played by dannylonglegs, killed during Night 3 Loyal Amy Spalkowa - daughter of Irena and Sammy, sister of Rupert played by iamded, voted off on Day 4 Loyal Cornelia Steinethaler - younger sister of Quentin, married to James, mother of Petra. played by CorneliusMurdock, killed during Night 4 Loyal On Day 5 it takes 3 votes to convict.

Belville Mafia: confirmation/discussion
Quarryman replied to Quarryman's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
So, for obvious reasons (unless you've been living under a rock in the woods lately, but then I wonder how you access EB ) I've had a lot of non-mafia stuff on my mind lately. Apart from that I need to find a replacement for Peanuts who've informed me that he'll be away from the 23rd. This he mentioned in the signup, but as I expected the game to be done by now I didn't consider it a problem. And once I've found a replacement I'd like to give that person some time to catch up. All this means there will be some delays in getting Day 5 ready, but I hope you'll survive. -
Vote count: Amy Spalkowa / iamded: 4 (Rufus, Fugazi, CorneliusMurdock, Captain Tamamono) The Day has ended with the conviction of Amy Spalkowa. It is now Night, please send in those Night Actions as soon as you can, the sooner I get them the sooner I can work on preparing Day 5.

Day 4 Late that night Daniel was in bed waiting for his wife. Like most women she could spend ages in the bathroom. But then a mysterious, silent person entered and pointed a gun at him. Daniel knew his time had come, but was unable to face it like a man. And the the silent person shot Daniel and left, adding another body to the long list of dead. "It seems your brief moment of cleverness was brief indeed, as Dragana was Loyal. And we also lost Daniel during the Night, who of course also was Loyal. This is getting frustrating people, please be more careful and consider what others have said before. Our chances of getting through this alive is getting slimmer every Day." Day 3 Waking very early Jacob had gone to one of the luxurious bathrooms to have an early shower before the rest of the mansion woke up. But while Jacob was humming to himself a mysterious person silently entered. Scared out of his wits Jacob couldn't manage to say a word. The person didn't say a word, just shot Jacob and left. And behind lay Jacob, dead. "So, I have good news and bad news. The bad news are, as I'm sure you're all aware, that we lost my great brother-in-law Jacob during the Night, and he was as Loyal as they get. Now, the good news, you are not complete nitwits, my stupid daughter Irena was Not Loyal, so there might be hope for the Family yet. Now, get to work, I expect you have plenty to talk about today." No. And just to be crystal clear about this I've updated the rule, so now it says: You are not going to get clues from me people, so just stop looking for them already, they are not there.
