LEGO Fan weekend 2011 Denmark Skaerbaek
Quarryman replied to Henning M.'s topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
Currently at Billund airport on my way home from what has been an awesome event, looking forward to next year already My only regret would be spending too little time socializing with non-norwegians, the curse of travelling with a large group I guess.. -
And a better picture of the inventory, where you can actually see what the parts included are.

Jamie reveiling new exlusive set: mini modulars
Quarryman replied to Cecilie's topic in General LEGO Discussion
And it's called 10230 mini modulars, pictures will follow -
Indeed she was, some mightily impressive fireworks at times. And no, we didn't have any trouble with any the battles, pretty sure at least two of them, maybe three, only lasted one round.
-
Well, when you have 3 mages in the party it is rather likely that at least one of them will roll a Magic Burst.
-
Out of academic interest, what would it have taken for us to fail Quest#3, all of us getting knocked out in the same battle?

Slightly frustrated with being unable to find some new attire Namyrra went to the marketplace to do some "retail therapy". First stopping by Gnomeo to pick up a Bedroll for 5 gold, leaving her with 70 gold. After that she went to Anwyl and had him upgrade her Lullaby wand for 50 gold, leaving her with 20 gold. Feeling much better, and with a much lighter purse, she decided to return to Heroica Hall to see if there were any news about the ongoing quests.

In a way that's a blessing with building for a contest, the deadline forces you to make the compromises that can sometimes delay a MOC for weeks/months/years.
-
Having heard there was a new quest posted Namyrra decided to take a break from her meditation and sign up for Quest#8 as well, after all, a quest specifically asking for mages suited her well. And seeing as a whole day spent meditating should be more than enough, and that she was getting rather tired of her standard Fenarian acolyte robes she decided to venture out into the city to search for some new attire.

I think you did one small mistake, the bomb Alexis threw was a Lightning bomb (see the post where she bought it) which would be equivalent of a mage using a Topaz for a spell, and that isn't an elemental weakness of the Undead, that would require a Holy bomb, which would be equivalent of a mage using a Diamond for a spell. So the Undead Nobleman should be at 23 (30-(2+5)) health now, not 18.

Thanks for the comments everyone, especially the constructive criticism, that's always appreciated. Yes, was aiming for the Dutch "look", so guess I got that right at least. Oh yes, wouldn't want the wind to blow too hard, then I fear this would all fall apart in a minute. And what's wrong with the frog? Totally agree about the baseplate, I wanted to build a better base, but ran out of time, the deadline for Round 1 of the MOColympics were menacingly close when I decided I had to get done and take the pictures. Well, the brick 1x1x2 with shutter tabs was what I was using, it isn't a 100% perfect fit, seems the tabs should have been a tiny bit thicker. And it does leave a gab of maybe half a stud when used with a 4-wide window, but I think that's just fine, another option would probably be SNOTed 1x2x2 windows, then I imagine the distance could be made just right. And yes, it probably is "a bit" drafty on the second floor, didn't quite manage to find a good way to build sloping walls, the 3x12 wedge plates made the whole structure too tall, and other wedge plates didn't have a steep enough angle. So it ended up with this not-exactly-perfect solution, I still want to find a good solution for other projects though, who knows, I might come up with something better one day. And I'm always looking for Fabuland parts when surfing Bricklink, have tons of ideas for Fabuland MOCs I want to build, so this certainly won't be the last one from me. (words really can't describe how great it is to finally have room for a proper building area at home, and an understanding girlfriend who let's me use it for the LEGO. ) Normally I'm not too fond about play features, but this time it felt natural to include one, even though it made the build even more challenging. And thanks, again. Can't remember where I first saw that technique for curved walls, might have been on LUGNET back in the day. Hehe, yes, it's rather obvious that I sacrificed a Burrow set to build this. Thanks, I'm sure it would look right at home next to your crocodile hut. Actually I got the idea for the windmill sails from this old set And how could I forget the frog? (though I did forget the "edge" ) There absolutely should be more Fabuland around, go build some!

"Splendid, it's a pleasure to do business with you Sylph. And I do hope we can go on another quest some time, it was quite an experience. "
-
"Ah, mr/mrs Sylph, I have an offer for you. You see, that Emerald which the Ziegfrieds gave you, you can't really use that for anything, can you? And if you were to sell it to a shop you would only get 50 gold for it. So I'm prepared to offer you 85 gold for it, how does that sound?"
-
After a long night of undisturbed sleep Namyrra returned to Heroica Hall to catch up with her companions from the quest. She was somewhat surprised at how impressed she was about some of them, in particular the mage Nyx had proven her worth during their search for the missing Ziegfried matriarch. Stopping by the quest board on her way she noticed several new opportunities had been posted, and after a bit of consideration put down her name for Quest #4 and Quest #5, after deciding that thief-catching wasn't for her, and as the silly person asking for champions for his arena didn't want any magic users. Such a common trait in envious people not capable of wielding magic themselves. Having thus decided she ventured further into the Hall to search out the cleric Sylph, with whom she was hoping to do business.. that is, trying to persuade them to part with the emerald they got from the Ziegfrieds. Obviously for a better price than they could hope to get at the marketplace, fair is fair after all.

General Discussion and Announcements
Quarryman replied to Dragonator's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Well, yes, I'll admit that I went too far there. Still hate people's tendency to look for clues in the pictures though. -
To get Proper Bread you obviously need Proper Flour, and the best flour you'll get at Waldemar's Windmill, a friendly chap as long as you don't talk about his cousin in the navy. My entry for Round 1 of the 2011 MOColympics over at MOCpages, I decided to build something for the category "wind" and ended up with a windmill. And not knowing what's good for myself I of course had to go for a circular wall on the ground floor (where the flour is ground) and then an octagonal structure on top of that. This has led to a MOC where just about nothing is connected to anything, so it has to be moved very carefully. The blades are tilted to catch the wind better, and when you turn them the grindstone in the mill goes around. (Yay! Playability features! ) The only proper Fabuland elements, the window shutters. (Which I was surprised to discover that fit the 1x1x2 door hinge brick) And the miller himself. For full size pictures please check the Flickr set.

"Well, I think I'll have to keep this nice Opal, so someone can get either a Ruby or a Garnet." -

"Most peculiar, after all our other encounters the transformed Ziegfried we've been fighting has showed up afterwards, but this time Zed did not. Is Zed dead? In that case, where is the dead Zed?" "So, I guess we should perhaps head downstairs again after dividing the spoils of this battle? And if no one minds I'd love to get the Lightning Bomb. " -

"Ahem, oh big voice-in-the-sky, surely Zed the Bed should have only 18 health left if Signor Bacari caused 11 damage and then Zed lost one health from the poison?" "Regardless, I shall cast a Fire spell at Zed the Bed from the back row." -

Dr. Bloodbrick's Asylum II: sign up thread
Quarryman replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Well, for me it's about time to take a break (it was before Baritones 3 actually), so I won't sign up. But I'll probably still end up paying more attention to this than to Baritones 3. Could be worse, it could be Weißblümchen or something with even more funny characters, seem to recall you loving those.
