  1. Beautiful as usual, ME! I can hardly wait for this prelude to conclude so that we can get to the real action, but at the same time I look forward to seeing more of your excellent work.
  2. Very nice little build, Legofin! The baby trees are my favorite part. The stonework on either side of the opening is appropriately weathered and the walls are solid enough to protect a small town. The cart is well-executed and gives a nice rustic flavor to the build. My one criticism is that in your description you mention "The Mitgardian banner flowing in the wind", but your lovely trademark banner is just about the farthest a banner can be from flowing...
  3. Fair enough. Make it look the way you want it to look, and that is what matters. My preference is for tiles, but it is (as you say) part intensive and isn't the look everyone likes. I respect that.
  4. Nice log entry, and build was used well to support the story.
  5. I've never been here for a chapter, either, so this is exciting. Looking forward to building some more in Nocty, perhaps, while also trying to get my story going again over in Avalonia. Too many builds, not enough time!
  6. Beautiful! I had seen that castle before on Flickr, but it looks just as good now. So many wonderful details. The story, too, is fun to read and also nicely illustrated. I can hardly wait to see what comes next! Though I have to say that I'm hoping that spy makes it away to safety...
  7. Which one was raised in South Detroit?
  8. At least their coffee didn't spill...
  9. Very nice laboratory! My favorite part is the spinner base used as a drain, but the other details make it work, like the tables, computer, trashcan, toolkit, shelves, vents, and specimens. The piping in the base, especially those knobs, helps to sell it, too. My one tiny bit of criticism is that it might look a bit better with tiles on top of the walls to hide those studs. But good work!
  10. I like the SNOTed base. A fun little vignette.
  11. I like the first picture with the blurred background; it makes it seem like there is more to your forest than just a few brown trunks and leaves, without there actually being anything more to it than that. The photography is well-executed, and the van is quite fun. It reminds me of the old VW line of vehicles that could be fixed with just about anything, cheap and yet relatively reliable. Nicely done.
  12. Thanks! I added some pics of the speeder for you, and thank you as well for your suggestion about the extra tag. I'm still pretty new to this! I hope to, though I cannot promise weekly builds. GoH is my first priority, but sometimes I just need to build a spaceship.
  13. The New Recruit Location: C09 - Orinshi Tags: Exploration, land vehicle "Join Kawashita Group, they said," muttered Henjin Quilones as he trudged through the swamps of Orinshi. "See the galaxy, they said. Earn pride and glory, they said. Ha. Pride and glory my #@%. All I get is a miserable little scooter and this walkie-talkie thingy with a minor upgrade, stuck on the homeworld. I hate this swamp. I've got a bad feeling about this mission." The green ooze of the swamp clung to his boots. He had to duck under the low-hanging branches of the pinkberry tree while avoiding another puddle of ooze. Henjin continued to complain. "And it's not like I'm the first one to explore this part of the planet, anyway, seeing how there's a beacon placed over there. Some job this turned out to be. I was better off fighting space pirates in the Sagittarius Sector, or before that when I got to excavate those Black Sun ruins on Ord Mantell. Sigh. The good old days of space grave robbery and space piracy. Now it's just swamp trudging for the latest son of the illustrious line of the Quilones. What would my great-great-great-great-great grandfather have said if he could see me now?" Suddenly the screen of his walkie-talkie started making squiggly lines and a series of beep-boop noises. "What the...?" the explorer said in surprise. "Awesomnium lode detected," a female/robotic voice said, like the one on the Galaxy Positioning System in his ship that was always telling him to 'turn right'. "Awesomnium lode?" Henjin repeated. "Here? I thought this area had been gone over before, probably a hundred times. Is this a new lode? One not on the charts?" "Cross-referencing the database now," the walkie-talkie voice said. After a brief pause, she continued, "This lode has not been placed on any Kawashita Group database. It is a new lode." "Praise the maker!" Henjin cried. "Maybe I'll get a cooler spaceship now, and more exotic missions, too! Walkie-talkie voice, do you have a name?" "Yes, Henjin, I am Kiri, your personal assistant." "Alright, Kiri, radio this one back in to HQ and let's get out of here. I need a hot bath and a massage." "Of course, Henjin. Messaging headquarters now."
  14. LDD is fine, as many people do it, but I can't answer the second question.
  15. Don't forget your pie repellent!
  16. Thanks, I was hoping someone would pick up on those references!
  17. This is a fantastic build! The buildings are fine (with the exception of stone on top of wood--maybe it is just a fancy-patterned stucco or shingle?) but I hardly even notice them due to that magnificent dragon. The spines, particularly the large ones on the shoulders, are splendid, and the color scheme complements the design well. I love the dark grey with the tan underbelly, all tied together beautifully with the white accent spikes. I could go on, but I will leave it with this: builds like this one make me jealous of people who can design really cool brick-built beasts that do not merely look cartoonish. It makes me want to try my hand at a similar build just to see what I can do. In short, it is an inspiring build.
  18. I think the color combination looks great. If there were less red and green, as others are suggesting, I think it would be too boringly white. Octan will always be kind of Christmas-y, but that is unavoidable with that color scheme. As it stands, you have a solid amount of white but enough green and red, especially the green, to make the shape pop. And it does. I love the use of the two canopies to form the cockpit like that, and those tails add a sense of speed and grace. The story was good, too.
  19. Henjin Quilones CCIX joins the Kawashita Group as an explorer. Standing by for further orders.
  20. Henjin Quilones CCIX reporting for duty as a Kawashita explorer. He comes from a long line of galactic explorers, being the 209th Quilones named Henjin in unbroken descent from father to son for two thousand years and more. He can hold his own in a scrap and has been called "too trigger happy with the locals" on occasion, but his attention to detail makes him a sought-after scout for the early stages of planetary conquest or exploitation. Thumbnail version:
  21. Normal green, and just normal green, looks bad for terrain. The same can be said for any other color you might use, however, since terrain and natural vegetation is always varied. Even amidst a forest of one type of tree there is variation in the green, and that is certainly true of a grassy field (unless it is a perfectly-weeded lawn or a field for sports, like a baseball outfield or an American football or association football field; but those are exceptions). Multiple colors, in somewhat random shapes, textures, and quantities, are really what make a landscape come alive. Multiple greens, multiple browns, and even multiple greys are useful for that.
  22. @en_zoo I use baseplates all the time, but only on builds that have borders; as Slegengr said, the baseplate on top of other plates is the same height as a regular plate, so a build on a baseplate put into a border can be built to the same height as the border. Without borders, however, I would stick to using regular plates.
  23. Beautiful work, SK! The functionality is something not often seen in this forum, but it looks like fun (I'm sure you and LJ have been having some competitions). I love the dark green/dark tan landscape, as it creates the image of the tundra, still deeply frozen with permafrost, covered by a layer of vegetation, like lichen, moss, or something else like that. The grandstand is also lovely, though not quite as nice as the platforms in phases I & II with the cross braces. The target building is adequate, but nothing fancy. If there were anything to improve, it would be there, maybe with the roof. The conventional slope-brick roof just seems a bit blasé by your standards...
  24. Thanks, LJ! I probably stole the idea for the legs from somewhere (maybe the Ultimate Lavaria from the much-maligned Nexo Knights? I can't recall...) but modified it to fit my needs. I thought she turned out well myself. Glad you like it, En_zoo!
  25. Thanks, SK! The rafters are definitely the focal point of the build. I am glad you like the window, too; I was worried that the rafters would overshadow and obscure it entirely. Thanks, En_zoo! Glad you like it. The Spiderwitch is always wanting marriage, but they never seem to last much longer than the wedding night...you might say she's a chronically black widow.
