  1. If i'd have made the sword i'd probably have used that lightning bolt piece since thats more how I imagine it, so it's each to his (or her!) own i think!
  2. Great to see these posted, I think Mat is perfect with the hat and cheeky grin. Maybe a staff would fit well with him though? The Aiel are great too with the varied use of neckties, hoods and ninja masks.
  3. The only thing i've glued is a broken flag (clips snapped) to a flagpole. Is there nothing you can redesign on the interior to make it stronger such as make it solid?
  4. Thanks for the further comments, sorry to bump this up again but seeing your comment DNL I have to ask to see the custom minifigures! Couldn't find you on brickshelf so I guess you must use flickr... Thanks for the compliment too, it means a lot coming from you having seen your MOCs! I agree about the battlements, and in fact at the time I thought that the platform was too high but the stairs keep it at that height and I didn't want to unbalance the wall by having a higher top section (above the colours) than bottom.. the alternative being to make it 2 bricks higher I decided just to have an inpractical rampart.
  5. Inspirational stuff, and lovely photography/editing as well. I like the technique for the roof, great job!
  6. I think this can be essentially summed up with the word 'wow'. I love it! It's got all the charm of the Medieval Market Village and yet plenty more fine details, the interiors are great and I especially like the workshop section. I can't say i'm sure on the colours of the roof in both parts, however if this were an official product i'd snap it up without a second thought!
  7. I really like it, I think the tan works well with the brown and green to make it look natural and the variety within it (different windows) and slap together (small extra room on top etc) appearance gives it a certain charm. Well done!

Excellent update, this is looking very nice and makes me look forward to what you're heading towards. The tan archways look nice and I think my favourite part is probably the stairs set into the rock. In terms of advice/improvements on it I would just say that the area on the left of the hut next to the tree looks a little too jagged (just on that corner, not where the brown and green is), also the stairs might benefit from smooth plates but then if you're building a large scale MOC you can't really plate everything . I'm not a huge fan of transblue water, but the effect is quite nice for achieving an appearance of depth, however if you used conventional blue.. it would really perfect the MOC for me as you could use white around the edges of the land, moving towards light blue and then normal blue. Anyway, as I said, very very nice!
  9. Thanks for all the staircase appreciation everyone, i'm rather flattered They are actually surprisingly stable, I think the central part from which each step originates helps keep it rigid, it was a little tricky to attach to the floor above at the right level but otherwise quite simple! I think they probably didn't! But then I tend towards aesthetic appeal over historical accuracy (to a certain extent) I've got an order of white parts arriving, since I realised I had no white arches and very few slopes so i'm going to try and do something with that when it arrives. Perhaps an entrance to the tower itself or some rooms inside it. There's actually a pub near where I live called The Old Horse, and given that i'd used the stable sign from MMV I thought it fit quite nicely.
  10. Whilst I wait for a brick order to arrive so I can attempt to build some more Wheel of Time creations (see my recent post), I thought i'd have a go at making a pub. The Old Horse is famed throughout the kingdom for its fine varieties of dry cider, the small building only allows for a few patrons at a time and the drinks are pricey, but the agreeable barmaid and the fine beverages make up for this! An Overview A closeup of the staircase. A peon working the cider press in the cellar. A close-up of the scene upstairs including my attempt at pouring action from a pump. A few more shots in the gallery HERE. Otherwise, enjoy!
  11. November of this year apparently, however it's not going to be the final book after all.. he's written so much that there may be an additional 1 or 2 after this! I just hope it lives up to Jordan's work. Thanks for the comments by the way. In way of an update, i've just placed quite a large order for white parts on pick-a-brick in the hope of constructing something within the white tower. I don't think i'll try the tower itself as in order to get it to scale it would need to be enormous and I don't feel I could do it justice otherwise. Perhaps an entrance hall, library or quarters of an Ajah though!
  12. Thanks very much, the river was experimental.. I have to say it's very fragile! Thanks, the wall is my favourite part too, I built that bit first and then constructed the rest around it :) A chimney would be a good idea, I totally forgot about that when building the building, though i'm not sure which side I would put it on.. Compliments very much appreciated. I assume you mean the wall space beneath the stairs. What would you recommend putting there? I wanted there to be enough room for the soldiers to walk off to an out of scene barracks or something. You rumbled me! I bought the market villiage very recently and the tree was just so perfect.. :p I'm actually only nearing the end of book 9 in my first read through.. It is very sad indeed, at least he has left such a legacy behind and it seems that another author has been commissioned to finish the series based on his extensive notes. Thanks for the comments too! :) I'm glad you noticed! The 7 Ajahs represented.. a bit of a challenge to make that middle part with an odd number of colours to show.. I'd love to create some more MOCs from the series, it might be interesting to try some customs though I have no experience there. But yes hopefully another MOC in a week or two when i've regained my energy!
  13. Nice details, personally i'd say the colour scheme of the helmet doesnt fit too well with the main body, though i'd imagine you've gone for historical accuracy.
  14. Inspired by the fantasy series entitled The Wheel of Time by the late Robert Jordan, I present an entrance to the fabled city of Tar Valon. Built by Ogier stone masons after the breaking of the world the white walls have never been breached. The city lies on an island in the middle of a vast and raging river. Inside, the Aes Sedai who dwell within have ordered the construction of wooden scaffolds to hold guardsmen clad in black. Despite the fabled white tower in the centre of the island, normal life is still abundant in the city. I hope some of you are familiar with the series, if not I definitely recommend reading them. Comments welcome! (Rest of the Gallery)

    Big wow from me!
  16. Phenominal, as has been said the lighting makes what are already beautifully original figures into something more..
  17. Just looking at this makes me sigh in wonder at the project. It's more beautifully crafted than I could have imagined. Best of luck with the task, needless to say i'll be checking back regularly!
  18. I love the shark, very clever idea!
  19. I'd love to make something for the community build, but sadly i'm away from lego except in holidays. And with the christmas holiday just over it will be 11 weeks before I can do anything!
  20. Thanks for the comments, I can't say this was a very original MOC for me, but more like trying out a number of ideas i'd seen around in other people's creations.
  21. Hello everyone, after an extended absence filled with work I return to you with a new MOC. It is meant to be an evolution from my previous creation, Riverside Castle which is seen here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=341057 Now whilst it is a smaller creation, I think that the techniques used are better and it's a more thought out MOC. As you can see the front gate is a rebuilt version and the inn shares many features. Anyway, without further ado.. When i set out at the start I wanted to make use of the diagonal wall. Below is a close up of the gate. Looking over the wall reveals one of my favourite shots. Inside a bandit has been arrested, can you spot the two others in the scene (not this picture!) who are trying to rescue him? Here's the front of the inn. And the back, I actually made both floors removable with smooth tiles and everything, and then completely forgot when I came to take photos. The important thing to remember is that Death is taking a bath whilst a lich plays cards with his skeletal servant. A woman looks on in horror! Thanks for looking and check out the GALLERY for some more shots! Comments and criticism welcome.
  22. Wow.. the detail in such a small creation and the camouflage is outstanding.
  23. Hey, just a small MOC to present today, probably the last for quite a while as i'll be away for the next couple of months. Brickshelf is being slow to moderate today but here is the overview. Since it's a small MOC one picture does it fair justice I think. The main concept of the MOC was to try out using flags as a waterfall, i'm pleased with the outcome. Let me know what you think! Oh and the rest of the gallery is here.
  24. Great MOC, I like all the small details and all of the encorporated orc parts. I can see some seige tower parts there ;) And of course.. the waterskiing is excellent!
  25. Thanks for offering these, count me in please.
