  1. Thanks everyone for the nice comments, i'll just adress a few of them which had questions in. Very good point about the SNOT river, When I was building it I didn't have a photographic angle in mind but then I suppose I gradually moved towards the one I took and then when I came to take the photos I was too busy trying to stop blur to notice that you could see the river side (One of the plants has also fallen over!) The red highlights are an attempt to break away from having a huge grey wall without using the mottled technique which I normally employ. Then I thought it would be a nice touch to continue them onto the bridge too. It would be great to have a food stall instead, but unfortunately all of my food pieces are already in that MOC since I have only one piece of chicken and a couple of apples. Certainly something i'd like to try in the future though. I suppose my idea for the stall was that it was a perfume stall rather than a potion one and hence the gems on top seemed to fit well into that idea. I know what you mean about that tree.. and really all of the trees! I have quite limited brown parts and I find it very difficult to convey a realistic tree appearance. Ideally I could use some inverted slope pieces. Hi Teddy, thanks for the comment. I'm afraid the dark brown of the trees was less of a stylistic choice and more due to part limitations. Dark brown is the only brown in which I have all of the arch pieces and slopes like that. However, if I had had the same options in other browns I feel that I would have used dark brown since I wanted to convey a dark forest opposing the brightness of the castle scene. I'd love to expand the MOC though at this stage it's not all that possible. It certainly couldn't be any wider since I have no more green bases and no more blue bricks. It would be possible I think to go further back into the town though.
  2. Hi everyone, i've got another MOC to show you all today. Overview Children playing pooh sticks (Inspired by SlyOwl I think?) View from the forest Closer look at the wall And behind it. Outside again. And finally the inside of the tavern. Slightly blurred i'm afraid. And a few more pics in the rest of the GALLERY. Hope you like it.
  3. Thanks for the further comments everyone, really it's very flattering to see a MOC of mine get this much attention! Also thanks for the great ideas in terms of improving and adapting the model with rubble and glass fragments amongst other ideas. I'll certainly take these on board for future ruined creations though i'm afraid i've chosen not to adapt this further as it has in fact been already partially dismantled to aid in other projects ;) Regarding the head of your sig-fig that you mention in the latest post Adam, I have to apologise for the poor quality of that photo in that the front is blurred. I hadn't actually been aware of the face you highlighted, though the one I used looks very much the same but without the stubble.. and strangely with a black eyebrow. Here it is from Peeron. It came from an Aqua-Something set a number of years ago. Can I ask where your head came from? Anyway thanks again everyone, this encourages me to make more things
  4. Thanks for the great comments everyone. It seems the general consensus is that you'd like to see the church built up completely or have more rubble placed around. I'd very much like to make a complete church and that was my intention when I started this project but I quickly realised I didn't have enough bricks if I wanted to make it to a satisfactory standard. (These are all of the big arches that I have unfortunately). The rubble is something i'm more willing to try, though I didn't place much around because I thought it would be difficult to make the rubble look convincing and not just piles of bricks. Does anyone have any examples of effectively created rubble?
  5. A very nice MOC packed with details, great job! My favourite has to be the waterfall, it isn't a technique i've seen before but it certainly seems successful.
  6. Hi everyone, i'd like to share my latest MOC with you. In theme with my series of highly original names I call this 'Ruined Church'. This is the best angle of the church in my opinion, it shows the one complete wall with all the arch techniques which I very much enjoyed employing. Moving round to the front it looks like this: If we peer over the top you can see that it isn't empty!. A group of outlaws have taken refuge inside the ruins. A foraging party leaves to gather produce. Whilst their leader greets a wandering monk. Here are a couple more angles: And finally the rest of the gallery HERE. Comments and suggestions very welcome. (Building up the church much higher isn't really an option due to brick limitations.
  7. This is really excellent, I have to say I don't normally enjoy looking at Computer designs of models, but I can certainly make an exception for this. It's just such and intricate and beautiful model . Are there any details planned for the interior? Looking forward to seeing this progress.
  8. This is really excellent, i like the building techniques but also the overall look of the monster is very lifelike and fearsome
  9. I really like this, it's a nice size and has a very lego feel about it! Also, the interior details are excellent; in particular the man in the bath.
  10. This is really excellent, I don't know how you can have the vision and the patience to create something this huge and detailed!
  11. I love them, they're like a father and son duo, especially in the beach scene

    Volcano Island

Thanks for appreciation guys, And really i'm very flattered by the MOC expert tag! :)
  13. 144b Behold the volcano Island. In the heart of this calm and pleasant Island is a firery volcano.. and that volcano demands a sacrifice This was my first attempt at using SNOT for water. I think it came out ok.. The rest of the GALLERY. Comments welcome.
  14. Thanks for the comments everyone. In regards to realism and the torsos I chose to use. I wanted to base the MOC on the events, but it's made out of Lego.. it's going to lack in some historical accuracy ;) As for the torsos, I was under the impression that Napoleon's army had blue uniforms, and therefore to use blue torsos to represent the loyalists in the Bastille would have been quite wrong. Instead I opted to use the still wrong but different red torsos. Snefroe, the information I read on the subject (which was admittedly from wikipedia) suggested that there was a battle of sorts, only 1 defender died in the fighting whilst a handful of attackers did. The defenders however saw no point in the battle and surrendered. The captain was then killed, decapitated and had his head displayed somewhere.
  15. Very interesting, that last pic looks like a more impressive version of the MOC we're discussing!
  16. Thanks Luxor! As always these look excellent
  17. Thanks for all the kind comments, i'm glad you like the MOC. I'll definitely take on board these ideas for future creations, i'm now keen to try out the SNOT water technique (though I have to say I have no experience of it) and also very much like the idea or 'moving' water.
  18. Allow me to present the unimaginatively named 'Wizard Bridge' A tower rests over a deep valley, and the crossing is ruled over by a wizard. There are no steps up to the tower levels, but I have used smooth circles to respresent 'teleport' pads. The aim was for it to look hewn out of rock from the base. Here are some details of the rock face: And the wizard himself. The tower parts are removable to reveal a crystal ball and an owl. Some views of the banks: The rest of the gallery is HERE and the shameless self promotion of another MOC i just posted is HERE.
  19. 146c 219 years ago today, revolutionaries and rebel soldiers stormed the bastille in Paris, today I bring you a lego representation of this! Based around the following painting and probably lacking in historical accuracy.. The front view: A statue looms over the bridge: Experience the event as a revolutionary.. Or a loyalist.. The back: The jail wall is removable to reveal prisoners: I hope you like what you've seen here, and if you want more details then the rest of the gallery can be found HERE.
  20. Thanks for the positive comments so far everyone, here is another small vignette to represent Marie Antoinette famously saying 'Let them eat cake' when told that the populous had no bread to eat. Unfortunately I made and photographed it a few days ago and as such it's not on a white background like the others. It has also since been destroyed so I can retake the photos. The raised platform is meant to represent a balcony hanging over the scene and the disc in her hand is a cake ;) Also, i've now photographed 'The Storming of the Bastille' but i'm going to post that tomorrow since the event took place on 14th July 1789.. it would be nice to post it on that day since it's close.
  21. Hello, let me introduce some MOCs and a little background about them. Both of these MOCs are set in the time of the French Revolution and are inspired by the book and subsequent television series entitled 'The Scarlet Pimpernel'. Read more about that HERE. The first of the two vignettes shows the Pimpernel coming to the rescue of two trapped aristocrats in a jail. The rest of the gallery HERE. The second shows more (the same) aristocrats being led to the guillotine, the Pimpernel is hidden in the crowd and ready to act. The rest of the gallery HERE. I hope you enjoy looking at these vignettes, I certainly enjoyed building them I've also made a much larger MOC which is based around the Storming of the Bastille and another vignette to represent Marie Antoinette's famous words "Let them eat cake". These will be photographed and uploaded in due course. (Tomorrow)
  22. Thanks for the swift response, I had already looked in the 'France' section of the library to see if there were any Royalist torsos but couldn't find any. However i've just looked through the rest of the library and found these two: Which closely resemble what i'm looking for, all i'd like is the blue on them recoloured to match the purple colour in the video. I hope this makes your task easier and thanks again, I look forward to seeing the Scarlet Pimpernel EDIT: Also perhaps the red changed to a Yellow for flesh.. i'm not sure if it would go too well with the purple.
  23. Hey there Luxor and others, I always admire your work in this forum and i'm embarking on a few MOCs based around the french revolution. I would really appreciate it if one of you could create 2-3 torsos for me. Ideally i'd like to see the Royalist Guard Soldier torsos from the start of video. The main soldiers are my priority, the captain would be a nice extra but it really not necessary. The other torso I would like is that of 'The Scarlet Pimpernel' He is the character in the foreground of THIS picture. Essentially it's just a black top with a white Cravate. Alternatively if anyone could point me to some of these or similar torsos already created that would also be appreciated.
  24. Thanks everyone, i'm really glad you like it! I would have liked to have built up the wall just a little more around everywhere but I felt it would have lost the effect of what is built so far due to a lack of dark bley/grey bricks to add variety.
  25. Darkness covers much of the land and gangs of outlaws roam the remains. Some stealing and pillaging as they travel.. others simply looking to survive. Crouched in the ruins of the mighty frontier fortress of Aundell one such gang takes refuge. ..And the rest of the gallery...
