Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion

If they do as well character accuracy wise to the movie that they did in guardians I will be impressed! The guardians figures are pretty much dead on to the movie (I saw it yesterday blew me away) Ronan looks so good it's like a miniature version of the character in the film, the different versions of star lord are both 100 percent accurate, Gamora looks like her final battle outfit, Rocket is almost 100 percent accurate other than his grey printing rather than brown, drax in movie lighting doesn't look green so I can see how lego got confused, nebula looks fantastic even down to the purple gloves. A perfect wave as all the sets apart from one occur in the movie. If avengers is that accurate but with a few more sets then it will be great. Ronan is definitely both the most accurate lego representation of a movie villain and the best marvel movie villain yet. Both sinister, threatening, nigh unstoppable and ruthless. This guy would mop the floor with Loki for sure. -
Indeed. Legolas's casual outfit in The hobbit is very unlike his previous ones. He has a darker green on the top, the silver undershirt shows through more, he has no broach as he has no cape, his legs are dark green with brown boots, the detailing and ridging on the top is different and the strap across his check which supports his quiver is straighter and different. Plus Lego could either give him dark green arms or gun metal to go with his armoured cuffs on his wrists. There is perfectly enough cause for a casual legolas figure. Personally in the laketown tower I hope for Bard (blue), Bain, Tauriel (casual garb), bolg and legolas (casual garb). So the set is the tower as far as we know and for £34.99 which it apparently is over here maybe they could include the bridge that legolas fights orcs on and that's how you connect it to the other laketown bits. That'd be good.

Lego's target market however would prefer hulk. They don't care about getting 3 hulks. They just want all the characters from avengers 2 and some sets they can play with. Besides I would prefer to have all of the Avengers from the new movie. That's like saying you don't want any of the avengers from avengers 2 because dated versions from a movie 3 years ago already exist. I personally would want all of the avengers from the film in their new looks. Especially Thor, Cap, Black widow, Hawkeye and Iron man (better hair or no/better cheekbones on Black widow??) Those five have the best costume variations of their characters yet especially in regard to cap's new suit. -
Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion

I would imagine Avengers Age Of Ultron takes up a lot of sets. I mean Avenger wise and main character wise, breaking it down we have Captain America (AOU uniform), Iron man (MK43), Thor (TDW armour), Black widow (new red and black AOU garb with blue highlights), Hawkeye (new Hawkeye emblem long coat), Hulk (pale dull purple pants), Scarlet witch, Quicksilver, Vision and Ultron. Then there are supporting characters that seem too be in the spotlight such as Nick Fury, Maria Hill, Col Rhodes/warmachine. Then Baron Strucker who will appear maybe in one set judging by the end of TWS. Plus ultron's stark drones, The hulkbuster, Bruce Banner and Steve Rogers and maybe even Tony as he pilots the hulkbuster which I imagine would be brick built. Just with the drones, Hulkbuster, Avengers, other characters and villain that's at least 6 sets. Even with just the avengers themselves and ultron that's at least 5. I reckon it might go something like this: January: 1 USM set (hopefully Coulson and another sinister six member) and 1 Avengers Assemble set (comic book iron man?) April: 6 Avengers Age of Ultron sets: Including a £130 avengers tower. There could be Ant man sets in July but I doubt there would be more than one. Especially considering TDW and TWS got no sets and the latter was one of the most popular, critically acclaimed of the Marvel movies since avengers. I guess also there could be a set based on Agents of Shield in January if we are lucky as that's in the public eye and it would be very cool and a nice tie in to publicise the second series which will be in progress then. Just a set with LOLA and the team vs a bad guy like garrett would be awesome. -
I know some people want to army build but the hobbit line is to advertise the movie scenes. They will want named characters in the battle of the five armies as when their target market watches the film they won't remember generic elves, orcs, dwarves. They will remember the main characters as in the movies they don't focus on random soldiers fighting in huge battle sequences. They switch focus between various main characters in the battles. Most who watch the film will be focussing on Thorin, Bilbo, the company, Gandalf, thranduil and the rest of the heroic characters and the villains. They will recall those characters more. This is why the Black gate set comes with Gandalf and Aragorn as they are the two biggest important characters in that sequence and sure they are fighting against generic orcs which always appear in sets but it makes sense to lego to focus on the main characters as they are the selling point. It will be disappointing if there isn't armies of dwarves and elves but no more disappointing than only 3 chitauri for the avengers to fight. No more disappointing than no dark elves at all made from Thor 2 in the marvel line. Yes its disappointing if its the case but at ver least the set will accurately show the scene/s from the point of view of the main character figures. Personally I hope for 2 of each army figure but I am starting to think that is unlikely. I prefer main characters but as this is a large scale battle you need to have regular soldiers at some point. Either way I will be happy with the set as long as it is interesting and accurate to the scenein the film and has some good figures.

After the Trailer I hope we see: Armoured Thorin, Armoured Thranduil, Bolg, Elf warriors, Iron hill dwarves, Elrond, Galadriel, Blue coated bard, Armoured orcs, Injured Gandalf (if we have to have one), Dain ironfoot, Legolas (casual), Tauriel (casual), Bain, Witch King. Those along with the ones in the erebor set would make the perfect wave.
-
SO which variation of thorin do you guys reckon we'll see. I counted about three in the trailer: Gold armour with crown, Battle armour(might be the same but no cape and crown) when the dwarves are all walking in armour through erebor, Fur coat and chainmail has already been seen in filming photos and in this trailer. Personally I reckon it will be the battle armour seen whilst the dwarves are passing him.

I STRONGLY AGREE with the bit about fantasy. Its supposed to look fantastical its fiction and its set in a fantasy world. I like how middle earth looks like fantasy in the hobbit films. The Majestic and huge erebor, the almost frozen in mid winter laketown, the green glow and eerie discoloured look of dol guldur, the elegance of the woodland realm, the psychedelic and hallucinatory atmosphere of mirkwood forest! Perfect! Almost exactly how I imagined it when I read the book. This is a personal preference but I prefer the look of the hobbit movies to the LOTR movies. Somethings in the LOTR movies like minas morgul, mordor and isengard are fantastical in their design but I found the look of that middle earth to be rather grounded a bit too realistic, the dull greens, the worn stone castles just seemed less legendary and more historical. That's my take. Apologies to the moderator for going off topic to movie based discussion. On topic smaug's lair has grown on me somewhat. Oh and by the way I'm going to LEGOLAND Windsor tomorrow and I heard the goblin king battle and another hobbit set had been discontinued and wondered if theres a chance it could be in the last chance marketplace area as when I went in 2012 I saw some 2011 stuff there. Its just I do not yet have all the dwarves and wondered if that might give me an opportunity to fill some holes in my collection. Thanks :)

Agreed! If not the molten Gold thing how would the dwarves be able to try to bring him down. A sword hit from one of them would be like being tapped to smaug. I liked how they got a one up on him. They used his vanity and love of treasure against him. I also like how the dwarves get to have some sort of confrontation with him as the whole first and second movies had been building towards the dwarves "Reclaiming their homeland" if Bilbo just picks up a cup and smaug flies off practically giving the mountain to the dwarves. Then all that character development and hatred towards smaug and legacy just becomes nought. I liked how they took the basic story outline and gave it more purpose and thickened the characters a bit more. The action sequences were to spice up the film and when I saw them in IMAX 3D I was blown away!

MY bad! That one looks intriguing! Especially as they have the tech and acting talent to revive the franchise and do it justice! On the subject of the next hobbit wave i'm confident they will represent the movie and do it justice. Even if not with the sets at very least with the second wave they produced one lareg locale from all 3 movies and gave us some needed main and secondary figures. If they can do slightly better here then they will have succeded in my eyes!
-
Yeah I for one am counting the seconds til the teaser tomorrow!!! Just that clip of azog looking over the army, Gandalf with rad's staff and bard has me pumped for the trailer and movie!! I reckon this film may turn out to be the best of the trilogy. This is a cinema event comparable to the final harry potter movie in scope and anticipation! Along with guardians of the galaxy, Age of Ultron and Batman V Superman this film has me hanging on every bit of info!

Speculation is just that. Pure fancy! I take any idle speculation with a bucket of salt. There is nothing to suggest anything like that will happen. Besides they have filmed many sequences with iron hill dwarf armies and they even appear in the banner image and promo images I believe. Jackson would not change that part of the source so much. Even in the second film (which for the record I highly enjoy)he kept true at least to the progression of events throughout the book. Journey through mirkwood encountering elves and spiders check, Arrival in laketown with the help of bard the bowman check, given means to get to the mountain by the master of laketown check, Bilbo's confrontation with smaug check, smaug's (extended)departure from erebor check. Yeah they changed which dwarves went where, explained who sent the army of orcs, gave smaug a better reason to attack laketown, explained where Gandalf was at whilst linking the films to the lord of the rings, made the barrel chase less mundane for a more mainstream audience. Plus a few added/expanded characters for linking/context. Besides it wouldn't exactly be five armies without the dwarves and dain would it!

Looks like Tomorrow 8pm (GMT) will be the first look we get at what the next wave is based upon! Just thought I'd throw it out there! This teaser for the trailer alone makes me 1. want to see more, 2. want to see the rest of the line of sets
-
I reckon the dol guldur set is going to be another add on to the existing playset and all three sets together form a scene from the 3rd film. I mean you've got Necromancer (perhaps that design is from the third film), Lots of orcs, The witch king, 3 wizards, Elrond and azog. I reckon the fight against necromancer takes place before the battle of the five armies as Gandalf will be in both battles therefore azog might still be there in that fight. Beorn joining in that battle would also explain that smaller set and mean that he features in both large scale fights of the film. I wonder what the dol guldur set will comprise of? Didn't someone say Elrond had a horse at toy fair?
-
I'm hoping we get a mix of main characters and grunts in the set. To do it justice we'd need something like Thorin, Armoured Thranduil, Dain, Bolg then 2 armoured orcs, 2 elf soldiers and 2 dwarf warriors. The rest of the set I reckon will be dale ruins and maybe a beorn bear. I think it's more likely we army wise get 2orcs, 2 dwarves but only 1 elf soldier. Then again Thranduil might not even be in the set. They did do him last year afterall in battle. He wasn't in armour but he did have a sword. We'll have to wait and see. I predict they won't disappoint us hopefully!
-
Hopefully they will break from past conventions in their sets. If not that seems very possible. At least we'd get the main players from that battle. Ideally we want all those and then some generic elf soldiers and dwarf soldiers. Who knows? They might surprise us!

Sounds good to me. Then again i'm not sure if they would put DOS casual legolas in aswell as he fights bolg in the second film. His non armoured gear is actually different to his LOTR gettup enough to warrant a figure: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-g-DXRLV2ZW4/UqduVgVCSGI/AAAAAAAAH74/9SG9v68ZOKE/s1600/HBT2-043180r.jpg compared to LOTR version http://www.amagpiesnest.com/a/wallpaper/1024x768_images/legolas4.jpg the design of the tunic and legs are different and for one thing its much darker green compared to the LOTR one. Thorin is sure to be in the battle of the five armies set as why include kili in erebor and not thorin unless thorin is going to be in the battle set.Its a defining moment in the narrative and we have seen plenty of pictures of the dwarves in armour and thorin's new gold chainmail design gettup. It'd be foolish not to include oakenshield in this wave as it is a movie that depends a lot on his character events.

You are right my bad I got my numbers mixed up but there are star wars sets that are £35. If its what FBTb saw then its probably fixed. Then again urtle lair was said to be £99.99 and it ended up only £79.99 so you never know which way it will go. For all we know in the UK smaug set could end up the same price as goblin king battle. AH I see I get your point now. yes that would be a quite satisfactory number. The way I see it if we get Thorin, Galadriel, Elrond, witch king, dain, Bolg, blue coat bard, bain, Casual tauriel, orcs, elves, beorn bear, men soldiers, Dwarves plus the main dwarves and Bilbo we have seen in erebor that would be a decent wave. That's what I hope for but yes 16-17 unique characters sounds about right.
-
So that would possibly be like 5 in erebor, 3 in dol guldur, 4 in laketown and 5 in battle of five armies. Hopefully there are more figures than that I'd say. I'd say that the battle deserves 8 to itself as it is the largest event of the film and the flagship set is low on figures. Laketown tower I'd say 4-5 as the marvel sets at that price usually have that many and then dol guldur is 3 we know. That would be 20 figures which seems like a good number to me especially because the first hobbit wave had 30!!! Then the second wave had 20. If this had less that'd be disappointing as the sheer mutltitude of stuff in the third film and in the battle specifically demands at least 20 in an ideal world 30 figures would be in this wave like with the first wave.
-
The latest Marvel sets the spider copter is £35 and some star wars ones have hit that price range so I could see this being £34.99 the price just means there should be more in the set. Hopefully means more figures!
-
according to FBTb's original London toyfair report price wise: Dol Guldur: £11.99, Laketown tower £34.99, Battle of the five armies £59.99, Smaug lair (i'm not calling it the lonely mountain) £99.99. Not sure on pieces.
-
I think it makes a lot of sense for the Battle set to be a dale ruins one as that is where we have seen photos from so far. I'd imagine a lot of action takes place there judging by what we've seen. If they show footage at comic con tomorrow then hopefully as Jackson said there will be an internet teaser trailer to give us a better look at whats going down. I wonder if the production blogs will return as they obviously would either cover editing or reuse footage from the filming of the 3rd film. Either way we'll have details on what we could see soon hopefully. I say dale ruins because I swear someone who reported at London mentioned dale as the setting of the battle set. That sounds promising to me.
-
There are apparently 2 buildings representing dale ruins in the battle of the five armies set, according to toy fair reports from February. Perhaps that's where your confusion stems from?
