  1. 3 weeks later and I just notice this for myself! Honestly, I don't look too much at the new technic models as I spend most of my time building other MOC's. When I saw the rendering of the blue, I checked to make sure that I wasn't crazy and that they never made blue panels and it turns out bricklink hadn't updated their database yet. I'm starting to lose my edge!
  2. Thats an incredible video.
  3. When I said, "ties the tracks together nicely" I meant that visually the whole package looks like one set of tracks rather than two running together. I know that they are actually running on the same gear train so of course they will always move together. For me the, the only piece just has hard as the red pulleys was the LBG #4 connectors when I built mine, havn't checked how rare they are now. If you look closely at Han's pictures you will notice that he didn't have too much loyalty to Old Grey vs LBG on the groomer and the old #4's are much easier to find. I took some pictures of my version to share. The link is http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=538826 I was taking pictures of the Leitwolf and noticed that right next to is is my 8421XL (which is fitting for this thread). I modified that one a bit for the Firgelli actuators and a much higher boom raise (lego cranes look funky with their low angles). http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/nychase/Others/img_3789.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/nychase/Others/img_3792.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/nychase/Others/img_3794.jpg
  4. I have built it and have found it to be incredible. I actually installed all black sprockets, tracks and black 1x7's just to keep things looking consistent. The 1x7 does actually tie the tracks together nicely. Mine has been built for two years and still gets questions asked when people see it. The modular construction is quite incredible and a joy to build. Enjoy building it!
  5. I wish the blue was possible. I guess we still need to wait and see if they ever make those panels.
  6. I highly recommend the Firgelli Actuators. They have two different throws (50 and 100cm) and the strength is fantastic. You might need to double or even triple them for this boom but I think it will work. Plus, don't forget that the motor is built into the unit so you wont need to find an alternate housing for motors or worry about axle torque. I used just one of these to life a heavy boom and it can lift it at FULL extension from level. Its a 45 stud long boom with a 40 stud inner boom, and its completely studded so there are no weight savings. http://store.firgelli.com/category_s/1822.htm I can try to answer any questions you might have if you need.
  7. Part count doesn't matter. Design does. For years I have tried to reverse engineer the Arvo brothers mini Technic Supercars http://www.technicbricks.com/2007/12/arvo-brothers-mini-technic-supercars.html I would easily pay 10 dollars for each of those and there can't be more than 150 parts per car.
  8. I am not usually critical but I also agree with the comments about the headlights. While I know you mentioned using the other 20t gear my question is... why Gears?! I think you should use a black 2x2 round plate with a clear boatstud. One of the rare cases that it will match the original headlights quite well. And since the 2x2 has an axle connector in the bottom you will easily be able to integrate it into a flip-up mechanism. However, its all in vain if you can't find a way to recess it into the body since much like the curves you matched so well its one of the signature looks.
  9. Believe me, thats a rabbit hole you don't want to go down. Before you know it you will be finding any reason (not just logical ones) to justify the next purchase. Of course my point would be more easily made if I mentioned that there are 7k bricks in front (under my arms) of me now for what I am currently building. Makes typing on the computer quite uncomfortable actually! Technicopedia was the catalyst that got me to come back to Lego. I heard the creator of that site is a pretty cool guy too (when hes not making you drool over his collection).
  10. Scroll to the bottom. http://www.genuinemodels.com/ideas.htm I have quite a few of these. Never utilized them yet but when the appropriate situation strikes I will. I imagine they would be usefull for digger arms where you want to avoid mouting a motor on the arm and don't have the space for CV joints.
  11. My mom still lives in Gurnee which in itself is a decent trek to Woodfield. Honestly its OK. The model itself (while great) isn't deserving of such crazy efforts to obtain one. Thank very much for the offer... I was just hoping to drive up some conversation that perhaps can prompt change with how TLG handles exclusive sets in the future.
  12. I grew up in that area. I just talked to them and they will not ship (no surprise) and will not hold for pickup. The guy on the phone seems to blame people for buying them up in bulk and reselling them for why they are so rare at the regular price. Which leads me to this. From now on, if Lego wants to make something exclusive, they should just do what they used to do. Release it for a few months and then just cut it off without explanation. 8275, 3450 (statue of liberty) and even 8288 to a degree are examples of this. That way, no feelings are hurt and no lego profiteers (as I call them) ruin it for everyone else. As a full disclosure, Yes, I do sell both on bricklink and ebay but I certainly don't go and clear out stocks of items so others can't buy it. Most often I am selling things that I purchased in bulk from someone else and I am just selling off what I don't need/want.
  13. ME. ( EDIT: Sorry... for some reason my EB wasn't showing those other replys...I thought I was the first)
  14. Does Jennifer Clarks Demag Crane count? Its not really a "set" but its what made me come back to Lego's after so many years. Then again, its mechanical complexity also intimidated me enough to keep me away thinking "well I wont ever be that good so whats the point". I absolutely love the model and I desperately wish instructions were made for it one day.
  15. I knew something was up when he kept changing everything! Congratulations.
  16. I am 99% sure you have all seen me mention them quite a few times which is why you might be familiar. I have quite a few of them (both long and short). They are WONDERFUL. I was able to use them as replacements for crane booms where pneumatics / LA's dont' provide enough strength or enough travel for height. By far the best part about them is the reasonable cost considering the motor is built into the assembly. You only need a PF to NXT cable to power them. They also work very well in parallel which is what I did with HAN's 8421XXL (Pneumatics are very annoying for people who like to "display" their MOC's). ITs worth noting that they do have internal saftey clutches so that you can't damage them. They can take quite a bit of force before they trigger though. Feel free to bounce any questions off me... I will do my best to answer them. You will see them in an upcoming MOC (not my own) in the near future!
  17. Blue...It would have to be blue. I don't have any other blue cars. Are there only 1 of each of the #7 and #8 panels? Hopefully so, because I remember you saying that those were quite rare from your build of Grazi Monster Truck. I did my monster truck in Pearl Dark grey so I didn't have to feel that pain.
  18. I wasn't on this forum when this model came out. As I was reading down I was somewhat learning about the model for the first time (of course I had seen it but not any details). I saw that it had the hockey triple spring for the return to center and I thought to myself...hmm...someone should convert this to the servo motor! Well it only took another few seconds of scrolling to find out someone did! I like it, I like it alot....and now I have to build it.
  19. Here is a repost from March http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=523627 These are most of my parts. I don't have pictures of wheels (there are an entire massive bins worth) panels, hooks, hoses, system bricks and other specialty parts that are hard to fit in cases like this. In all I am missing about 1/3rd of the parts for the photos but you get the general idea. Most of the cases are the stanley sortmaster cases that you can pick up for around 13 bucks on amazon. The cases are 8 bricks or 24 plates tall or 10 LDU tall. In many of the beam photos you will see stacks of beams with a #10 axle holding them together vertically....so there are either 10(thick) or 20(thin) of them stacked. The engine blocks are 4 per stack. Basically, the cases are much deeper than they appear in pictures and ALOT of parts fit in each. The axle case alone weighs 18lbs. Of course none of this includes the parts for any of the real models (there are 260 of them) or any of the MOC's...I lost count. These are just my "spare" parts. But, I recently was able to build Grazi's tow truck in White almost exclusively out of my spare parts so you start to get the idea that there is more than meets the eye. Since Burf's photos are above you can see that we both (and infact many of us all) use those Stanley cases. Where I suspect I am different from most people is that my collection is as condensed as possible. The largest reason for this is simply space... I just can't waste it.
  20. Ok, I dont' think this is quite what RoscoPC had in mind when he made the model but the guy seems pretty excited about it! He did actually take the time to paint the front wheels to match the metallic silver. http://www.brickinside.com/NeoView.php?Db=CreatorGroup&Number=5117&BackDepth=1
  21. Question for the general readers of the technic Forums. As I have had MOCplans running for a few days now its occurred to me that I should get a few more MOC's up that aren't actually technic. I launched with some technic models because you are all the people I know but at this point the platform has proved stable and robust so I want to try and add some more MOCs (manually...ugh) while we are waiting on the development on the rest of the site. So the question is. Do any of you have recommendations on established MOC builders that are in other Themes that have made paid instructions? Right now, despite only having 12 MOC's on the site there have been 35 searches for "space" and 31 for "sci-fi". I think it might be best to get some of those MOC's up to help incorporate some of those users as well.
  22. Theres even a build thread! http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=73723
  23. Are those Train drive wheels? Also, would the 36t gear be small enough?
  24. Sadly, those numbers are quite outdated...actually exactly 1 year outdated...ha. In march I made a post (in this topic) that documented the updated numbers with exception to wheels/tires. I believe there are are 64 Power puller wheels now. I don't specifically set out to buy them but It just happens as you collect. Worth more than a House? ...no doubt about it. There are 95 Black 40T gears now. I would have had 8 more but they were for sale from Jennifer Clark which means she was trying to help someone build her JS220 Excavator and I would feel bad if I purchased them just to never use them.
  25. I was not prepared for just how incredible that collection has become. There are many, many additional models from the last update. so many infact that if you compare the previous pictures to now, he had to add those center bookcases for the middle of the room. My question is...what happens next? I would argue at some point that some of the official models can be taken apart especially those that have already been covered by Technicopedia. At some point the room will become one large room of MOC's. Of course, I could always take back RoscoPC's F1 cars and that would free-up quite a bit of space! But with Blakbird they are on display, with me they would be in boxes and that hardly feels right considering how incredible they are. In the spirit of the previous guessing game, can anyone name all of the new MOC's on display?
