General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
RAKRONDEWL replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
I think the film was originally going to be released in July but the film that was holding the May slot was pushed back. So maybe March/April we will hear something? I guess we will wait and see. -

Really? I thought with the film being moved to May 26th, the set's release would have changed to before or at the same time as the movie. -
Ah, Greek not Roman, I was close. It looks very cool and really captures the look and feel of the Greek ships. Did you decide not to go with a sail then? It doesn't look like you really need one but I am a little curious to know what it would look like now.

Is it a Roman Galleon? I will be sure to keep am eye out for the complete model.
-
This is very cool Toothdominoes, I am very impressed and inspired by the level detail and the unique use of parts in your model.

I made these scans 3-4 years ago, if these don't work I can try and find the sails (I just moved and don't know where they are) and make a new scan. Hope this helps.

I assume you mean it is a POTC ship, right? It isn't completely clear which you are confirming, at least not to me. -

I wasn't just talking about the POTC ships though. I feel that a UCS Black Pearl would be breaking a consistency we have had with all the previous ships. You can set just about any two previous ships together and will not feel the scales are off (for what they are) but a UCS set probably will not fit unless done just right. Don't get me wrong, I would love a UCS BP but unless there is another UCS ship I don't see it happening. -

Making a UCS Black Pearl would be cool but wouldn't fit with any other previous ships in terms of scale, so my bets on the Flying Dutchman (which is also my personal preference). -
True but, it isn't a good business practice to start a theme, let it run a little while and then cut it short and turn off fans. If they would just give a "failing" theme a last wave to cover all potential/essential sets, many more fans may feel more inclined to give a different theme a try as apposed to being highly infuriated and giving up on the brand entirely. And as far as the set, they could make it a LEGO exclusive.Don't worry I haven't giving up on LEGO, but I am infuriated. Back to buying sets for pieces until something descent comes out...

I feel so shot in the foot, burned, or however you like to put it! And to make it worse, this is the approximately the forth time...first time I was disappointed by TLG couldn't get the toy license for Spider-man 3, I never had money for a set from the first two films but I had save my money for this one, only to be disappointed. Second time was with the POTC line, we never got my favorite ship the Flying Dutchman (LEGO has a chance to make up for this next year though ). Thirdly, the premature ending of the LOTR theme, leaving out many things from ROTK and the lord of the rings himself Sauron, the main antagonist (I could go on and on ranting about this but I will not). And last but not least, the discontinuing of Bionicle g2 without getting Makuta and the MOUP! I have been a fan of LEGO since I was three and wouldn't give up on them, but it seems they are giving up on me. I have sincerely considered dedicating my time and abilities to work at LEGO but am not sure I want to now. LEGO has said they are committed to their fans but more and more it seems they are more committed to the dollar. Sorry for the rant guys. If anyone at LEGO reads this please rethink your decision. I know you have already done the marketing but is the money really more important to you or are your fans? Please make just one more set or at least just the MOUP for us to complete the theme, you say the physical toy is more important to you than your virtual content but your actions say different. If it is to late for you to do anything like this, please realize that if you commit to something you need to see it through to the end. -RAKRONDEWL (a concerned fan for LEGO's future)

Discussion: LEGO Bionicle Makuta Contest
RAKRONDEWL replied to Toa Palpo's topic in LEGO Action Figures
It doesn't actually look that hard to reverse-engineer, unfortunately I don't have the time to try right now; if we don't get one as an official set in the near future, maybe I will give it a shot.I am hoping we get the one with the black/gold/purple color scheme, he is the villain "toy" we always needed. -
Latest CMF series impact on Historic themes
RAKRONDEWL replied to SirBlake's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
The Rogue looks incredible, I need as many as possible to make LOTR Rangers, Assassins Creed assassins, and maybe DC Arrow or the Dark Archer. -
I don't know of many available instructions but I have shared LDD file links of almost all of my LOTR models in the "LEGO LOTR General Discussion" topic (page 201 if your interested).

I just discovered that general Hux's pants work perfectly for Ringwraiths. Just wanted to share this info.

Is this a joke? The actual reason is because the Hobbit had films to "boost" sales and LEGO doesn't have full control over what they could make (the other party has a big say in what we get, for exp. no Azog in the first Hobbit wave because it would spoil his reveal in the movie).I really don't believe it was just because of LEGO that we didn't get anymore LOTR sets, I think it had more to do with the marketers on the other end.

Best of luck to you, hope you get the job. By the way, those architecture builds look incredible.

I hope your right, I was pretty put out that LEGO didn't make one. -
No worries, that's completely normal.

Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them Film Discussion
RAKRONDEWL replied to Robert8's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Okay, so the animals are Native American and the art style is celtic, got it. Thanks!Edit: As I went to look for an example of some celtic knots, look what I found: It's a called a "Pangur ban", I guess. Here is a celtic knot snake Trinity symbol. (Note: The Trinity symbol was created to represent God, so why would they use this for a wizarding symbol?) I just wanted to post these as this shows that these houses look to have come straight from Ireland rather than America, which makes sense since the school was founded by an Irish girl... -
With the introduction of duo-molded pieces, I believe they could make the characters much more accurate (we could see Hobbits with their feet). The second season is full of new molds exp: Sonic's head, Gismo and Stripe's heads, Adventure Time pieces, Mr. T mohawk...We don't know if these will be exclusive for Dimensions, but they were clearly made for it first. So it isn't impossible, it's just not probable; I still cling to a dying hope.

Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them Film Discussion
RAKRONDEWL replied to Robert8's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Thank you for answering. I don't know much about the story yet so I will have to take your word for it. What exactly makes them look Native American is it the names, descriptions, mythical animals, or a combination of these? -

What Native American influences? It looks Celtic to me.I also think using the Trinity symbol for a wizarding crest is a bad idea. -
From my experience, it can also mean that the builder decides that a minifigure is a designated height and the model is made according to that scale (for example: one stud equals one foot, this makes a minifigure with hair ~5ft. 6in tall and all other measurements of the model reflect this).

Hmm, I didn't think of that; I always just considered the possibility of getting another set as a continuation of the theme, but I see now what you mean. LEGO could give us bigger sets along with a couple minifigures lines, like they did for the Simpsons.Your probably right, but I'm not going to stop trying. If nothing else, we can show LEGO that we are still interested in the theme and would like more even if that means the "rebooting" of previous sets.
