That's a great and very interesting topic, TheBrickster! You suppoably do already know my opition towards CC styled buildings and mixing these buildings with regular City buildings. Nevertheless if you necessarily want to mix them: Mixing the CC styled buildings with the awesome buildings of the brilliant 10188 Town Plan set would perhaps work since I think that they look very similar in architecture and are even bigger than the other regular City buildings til this summer. Apart from that I must really say that I don't think that CC styled buildings will look good next to regular City buildings. Because of this I'd advise you to build up a whole small district which only CC styled buildings, perhaps a street in between, lots of trees (at the best brick-built) and other accessory (like e. g. benchs, dustbins, ...). There could be a park in front of the CC styled buildings - and on the other side of the park there you then could place the regular City sets. I think that this would be the best compromise since you would have CC styled as well as regular City sets in one and the same layout but not to close that you immediately detect the differences of those buildings. I hope I could help. Klaus-Dieter

A new idea: Motorcycle Repair 13-17 Euros a small black motorcycle and a 4 stuck wide break-down servie car with doors and cargo bay door including a box with repair tools, a handy, a grey suitcase and a warning triangle minifigs: motorcycle driver and break-down service man This set would imo be 1. a great addition for every AFOL's city layout and 2. a cool set for JFOLs since it includes a lot of action and playability plus a self-explaining story to play with the contents of this set. What do you think? Klaus-Dieter

Thanks, TheBrickster! Imo some of the old sets (like e. g. the great Main Street) fit very well with the newer ones (especially with the awesome 10184 Town Plan and the great 7641 City Life set) - so why not combinig them in one and the same layout?! But of course there are even some older sets which are much too small and simply so that they don't go with the newer sets (like e. g. the old post office which is really too small for a city and which - because of this reason - I'll sell around this year's Christmas). I haven't thought yet about swaping the cinema and the town hall - great idea! I'll immediately will try when I'm back in my student digs and then tell you how it looks. But it surely will look good since the town hall and the car shop look like they were built in about the same time period. Originally I hoped - and still hope - that TLG will release one more exlusive set with a building in that architectual style so I could add it next to the town hall. And I hoped that we'll get more shops which I then would have added next to the cinema (where now the Main Street is placed). Let's hope we'll be gettting more Town sets in order to that Legostadt can grow! About the trees: I planed in my digital plan 50 (not to sets belonging) trees - and I even only added 50 (not to sets belonging) trees. So perhaps I counted wrong but I don't see more - with the to sets belonging trees there are in total 54 trees on this layout. To the park itself: I'm glad to hear that you like it. Like already mentioned some posts before there is always that much concrete and tar in cities that there has to be a place with a lot of gree for the citizens to relax. Of course it's anyway too small - nevertheless it's imo better than nothing and the center of Legostadt has to include a fountain and a park as central point. Sorry for the misunderstanding, TheBrickster: I meant that next year when we'll maybe get a Public Transportation Center as TRU Exclusive this surely would include a train and then my city center of Legostadt will include a train, too. I regrettably have no place in my student digs to display the Metroliner plus Railroad Club Car, station and tracks. But my earlier city layout of last year (which includes the Metroliner, ....) and my Legoredo (which includes the Classic Train) include both one train. Btw: How do you like the wind power plant (at this place)? (In the final layout which will contain all my City sets I of course won't place it there but somewhere outside Legostadt near to the farm. But for now I nevertheless wanted to have it in my layout since I do so much like it - imo it's one of the best - perhaps even the best - of this year's City sets.) Klaus-Dieter

That's a great idea, Darth_Legois! Regrettably I don't think that TLG is planing this idea for the set called 3177 Runabout. Why don't you post it here?! Klaus-Dieter
-
I bet that the Public Transportation Center option will make it into the TRU Exclusive. But imo it will much depend on which other sets we'll see in summer 2010: If we saw only train sets then it's very supposably that the City Square will make it. If we saw not only train sets in next year's summer but even some Town sets (like this year) then it's very supposably that the Public Transportation Center will make it. Klaus-Dieter

A new idea: Ski Bus a bus (same or simiar to the one in 7641) with a ski box on its back including two suitcases, four skis and four ski sticks minifigs: bus driver, woman and boy What do you think? Klaus-Dieter

. I think that this has some great potential... Thank you very much for this information, darthperson! This indeed could have potential (if these sets didn't look like the bad Factory sets of last year)! Hopefully this is right and we'll see some good Western sets - that would be awesome! Klaus-Dieter

You're right, The Green Brick Giant: It was already stated that there'll be City trains this year. And since we already know the sets for the first and two wave of City sets only one wave is not known yet - and this will be Trains - which then will surely be released in June-September. A train depot would be awesome - but I fear that TLG won't release one - at least no next year. I have a theory about which sets we might see in summer 2010 (apart from the TRU Exclusive we already know): either a passenger train, a cargo train, a seperate train car and a cargo loading station or a passenger train, a cargo train and some additional Town buildings (e. g. grocery, bank, post, hotel, family house, ...) At all events I think that we'll see the more additional train stuff - such as a train station and hopefully many more addtional train stuff like TLG offered until the late ninetees - firstly in summer 2011. Klaus-Dieter

No problem, Etzel. A runabout is a small car to drive through the city in order to e. g. get to your place where you work or to go to the supermarket. Like already mentioned I bet that it'll be more or less the same car as the Sports Car but in a different color and with roof. Klaus-Dieter

Since - against my thoughts and hopes - Power Miners will get a new wave next year and since we'll already get that many new themes (licensed: Cars (Duplo), Toy Story, Price of Persia and Ben 10; not licensed: Atlantis): Do you think that there'll be another new theme in 2010 - Western or Romans or Greeks or whatever? Btw: I'm very surprised that there weren't any Pirates sets mentioned until now for the first wave of 2010. So it seems as if they very supposably firstly came out in the 2nd half of 2010. These are all awesome ideas you posted here! I really hope that TLG will take the one or other idea and release it! Or even better: release a whole winter theme! These are great ideas, danim! A snow plough is indeed needed for a winter village - and would btw be very much liked by all JFOLs. Some winter decorations would be great, too, especially some street lights like the one in 10199 in order to add them to your street(plate)s. This would indeed be a very nice addition, AgentRick57! Perhaps with three people looking like the two singers in 10199? You're absolutely right, prateek - a candy shop ! How could I only forget this?! Thanks, marvinblue. A winterly town hall and a church would be of course great, too! That's a great idea, saberwing! A frozen lake with a stand where you can buy hot drinks and something to eat and some ice skaters would be brilliant! Klaus-Dieter
-
When you look on the first page of this topic you can see that the set will be no round about but a runabout. It surely will be a set similar to this year's Sports Car - but supposably with a roof and without telephone box and tree. Klaus-Dieter

Ninjas returning with LEGO Universe?
Klaus-Dieter replied to Skipper 24's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Well! I didn't think about that, pedro. But you're right: Manga and things like that seem to be popular amongst older kids. Nevertheless I think that Western is more popular - perhaps even as popular as Pirates -, don't you think? (I know this is all more speculation since it 's a long time since I was a kid and so many things hve changed which I partly do not notice.) Klaus-Dieter -
At least I bet that the ladder truck will be included in the HQ set. So the truck with the fire boat surely won't have a ladder on its top. I have to disagree with you, Yeow. Real life and fantasy/playing are two totally different worlds. Plus keep in mind that the children which play with Lego get younger and younger - and I don't think that the most of the six, seven and eight year old kids dislike school that much. Klaus-Dieter

Ninjas returning with LEGO Universe?
Klaus-Dieter replied to Skipper 24's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
This is a nice idea, Skipper 24, but like it was already mentioned I don't see it happen! The reasons are: 1. Universe is only a computer game. There are that many minifigs, accessory and buildings virtually constructed which never will make it into real Lego sets. 2. When you look at the Vintage Minifigure Collections Volume 2-4 you can see that TLG brought back three classic characters for which they had to dig up old molds for the head-gears: Ninja, Forestman and US Western Captain. So there could be theoretically all three themes brought back. But I fear that they won't bring back one of them. If though I bet (and hope) it'll be Western - or perhaps some kind of Forestmen - but I can't imagine that it'll be Ninja since I think that Ninja is the one theme of these three with which today's kids (apart from the ones living in Asia) can associate fewest. Since the Luke's Landspeeder set will be only a small set it's not very likely that we'll see a Mos Eisley Cantina building in it (apart from that TLG then would surely name it Mos Eisley Cantina and not Luke's Landspeeder). And since there won't be a Mos Eisley Cantina in it it's even very unlikely that there'll be some Sandtroopers included since the additional minifigs should relate to the other contents. And Sandtroopers were only seen in Mos Eisley and in the dessert searching for the droids - but confrontation with Luke or Ben in Luke's hometown. So I bet we'll see two Tuskens and a Bantha. Btw: Since we're getting the Landspeeder as a seperate set it's imo totally excluded that we'll see a Mos Eisley Cantina set next year or in 2011 since a Mos Eisley Cantina set has/surely would include Luke's Landspeeder. Klaus-Dieter

It's really a pity that you can't show the pics of your MOCs to us, kabel. An idea would be to take the best pics and scan them in order to get digital versions of them on your computer - but this would surely be taking a lot of time and being a bit laborious. Nevertheless it's perhaps a try worth. Klaus-Dieter

Here are my wishes for winter sets I really would like ot see: Winter Train Station winter train station (first floor: entrance, ticket window, registration of luggage and waiting room; second floor: small office) and a platform with some benches and lamps including some suitcases, some tickets and a pushcart minifigs: train conductor, female ticket seller, train worker, woman, man, boy and girl Winter Family House winter family house (first floor: living room with Christmas tree and big chimney with light brick, little kitchen and entrance; second room: bedroom, bathroom and small round balcony) with winter garden with fence, mail box, snowman and igloo including a blue car, some cups, a suitcase, some toys, skis, ski sticks, a shovel and some other tools minifigs: husband, wife, son and daughter Winter Bakery winter bakery (first floor: bakery with oven, counter and cash point; second floor: living room) including some lebkuchen, some pretzels and some cups minifigs: baker, saleswoman, grandmother and grandson Winter Ski Shop winter ski shop including a some skis, ski sticks, snowboards, helmets with and without gloves and a bonnet minifigs: shop owner and boy Santa Claus' Carriage Santa Claus' Carriage including two until four reindeer, a lot of toys and gifts minifigs: Santa Claus and girl And what about your wishes and thoughts? Klaus-Dieter

A mobile stage - that's a great idea, danim! Your MOC goes already in the right direction. Some ideas for improvement would be: add some minifigs, some colored floodlights and some additional attachements to it. Klaus-Dieter

Hello everybody! TLG is offering the awesome 10199 Winter Toy Shop to us this winter which is imo a brilliant set. There are surely many under you which would like to build up a whole winter village, too. The only problem is: one house doesn't make a whole small village. So minimum two more houses are needed. Because of this I thought that it would be interesting and nice to share our thoughts and wishes for add-ons to the amazing 10199 Winter Toy Shop here. So please share your wishes and thoughts with us here! Klaus-Dieter

I think that's more my interest in special police things like Bereitschaftspolizei, SEK, BKA, BND, ... which I of course want to have in Legostadt, too. That is a great idea, kabel, but I never do mix official sets (or models which are built after an official set instruction) with MOCs. I really like MOCing - at the moment I'm working on a little theater - but I really dislike a mixture of MOCs and official sets in one and the same layout. Thanks, Commander Flash! Of course I want to expand my city! Which shops, houses, trains and vehicles there'll be added to Legostadt will only depend on the offering of TLG since I never do mix official sets and MOCs in one and the same layout. A Lego Store woud of course be one of the best City sets that could be done! But with TLG releasing the Winter Toy Shop this year I regrettably see (at least for next year) no chance for a Lego Store. Thanks, Matn! I totally agree with you that with official Lego sets in non-CC-style it looks much better - plus less money and place is needed and you can look into the houses without having to always put away the roof(s). Klaus-Dieter

Of course I might be wrong, too, but when you think logically, compare with the sets of the last years and even classic City sets, think about how much the sets will cost and how many pieces and minifigs supposably will be included you can come to this result. And yes, you're right, I meant that I have absolutely no doubts that the awesome 10199 Winter Toy Shop will sell well! I bet that if the Public Transportation Center option was chosen as the fan's choice set it actually will include an elevated train (but no monorail!). Like Hinckley already mentioned some time ago, too many of us Lego fans would be angry if this choice won but we wouldn't get an elevated train since so many people (me of course included) would really like to get something similar to the awesome Airpot Shuttle set from the 90s. Btw: Does someone remember when we saw the first blurry pics of the first half of this year's City sets last year? Do you think we can await some pics next week? That would be great since I can't await to see how the Piglet Enclosure With Tractor, the City Runabouts and the Fire Boat will look like! Klaus-Dieter

Thank you very much for that great review, WhiteFang! I voted for Average since: Cons: - no interior - very small Pros: - much accessory - brilliant and lovely exterior design - many and awesome minfigs I (still) own this set and imo it is great - apart from that there is no interior included. Klaus-Dieter

I totally agree with you, Fumoffu! Do you remember the Mos Eisley Cantina set? In it a Dewback was included. And Dewbacks were seen in episode 4 only for a very short time, too. So why shouldn't there be a Bantha, too?! TLG knows that we're that much interested in a Bantha and even would pay a lot of money for it - so it would be unwise to not include one in the Luke's Landspeeder set. And finally (like already mentioned) TLG has to include something new in this set - otherwise only people which do not own a Landspeeder will buy it and those who already own a Landspeeder won't buy it. This has been working for years now - TLG re-design many vehicles two or three times but always included something new in order to that people want to buy it (in fact only because of the new minfigs and/or accessory - but not because of the new design of the vehicle). So I'm very sure this will be that way this time, too. Klaus-Dieter

Thanks, BlueBard! I first thought about whether I shall put the amazing 7641 City Life set next to the park (in opposite to the town hall) but then decided against this since imo a bicycle shop and a pizzeria don't fit in the very middle of a city center - this is the place for more profitable shops such as a jeweler's shop, a hotel, a bank, a metro station and some offices, perhaps a really expensive restaurant. Many thanks for the honesty to give me ten points out of ten! Klaus-Dieter
