Thanks, WhiteFang! Since I'm not always every day here and since this forum is that big and there are a lot of topics I sometimes miss great topics, too, and only when I'm called attention to them by other members or by chance read them and reply to them - so no reason for excusing yourself. I'm glad to read that you like my approach to show firstly the plan(s) and firstly after this then the outcome. I wanted to do this since I thougt - and still think - that it makes more sence to show the plan first and then the layout. Apart from that this method even creates a bit pressure. Nice to hear that you like the little scenes. Imo the contents the City sets TLG offers regrettably don't suffice to build up a completely and very lovely and lively city. That doesn't mean that the City sets offers are bad - but it means that an AFOL needs more minifigs, accessory, etc. than the sets offer. So I added a lot of additional minifigs and - in order to make the city center more lively - created some scenes. Klaus-Dieter

Hello everybody! Since we've got a lot of great reviews of (nearly) all of this year's SW sets I thought that it would be nice and interesting to know which of this year's SW sets is your favourite one and if there is a favourite one among us EB fans. I decided to "only" include regluar and exclusive sets in this poll and no promos, magnet sets, key chains etc. since they are in a proper sense no real (play-)sets. I hope this is ok. So please vote! Comments are welcome! Klaus-Dieter

That's a very nice and funny layout, WhiteFang! I really like it! It's nice and funny to see all these well-known sig-figs in this layout. Many thanks for including my sig-fig in the layout, too. The big dumper looks imo unfitting because its much too big size in comparison to all the other contents of your layout. Otherwise it's great to see that old great police station, the little yellow car, the CG quadbike, the brilliant blue car from the awesome 10184 Town Plan and the nice Creator house. Very well done! Btw: If you've got time please check out Legostadt, my Lego City layout, too. Klaus-Dieter

Thank you very much for the pics, links and the information, TheCobra! Someone does already show some pictures of the contents of the Pirates Advent Calendar on BS - so I suppose that it won't take long til we'll get a review or at least pics of all contents of the City Advent Calendar, too. Isn't the price even more than last year's advent calendar?! But on the other hand it includes seven great minifigures and one police man and perhaps some nice accesory. Klaus-Dieter

I bet that these eleven sets mentioned until now won't be all SW sets we'll see next year. It's very supposably that there won't be as many SW sets in 2010 then this year (since this year was the 10th years anniversary) but nevertheless I think that there'll be. Hard To Find sets (like this year's Pirate Tank): one PT/CW set and one OT set or two PT/CW sets Exclusive sets: one PT/CW set one OT set (very supposably a Cloud City set) What do you think? Klaus-Dieter

Thank you very much for this great review, ADHO15! But this is mo this is an awful set. Cons: -wrong minifigure (it has to be a Scout Trooper and not a Stromtrooper) -deformed design I really don't understand why TLG didn't design a real Speederbike (like the awesome one in the brilliant 8038) and insclude a Scout Trooper. Btw: Where is this set available for free? Klaus-Dieter

Thank you very much for this information, The Cobra! Since there'll be that many themes out in the first months of 2010 (City, Duplo, SW, Creator, Technic, Bionicle, Power Miners, Atlantis and Toy Story) I can't imagine that TLG will release some new Pirates and/or Castle sets in the first half, Rick. I personally bet that we'll see more SP and Pirates sets in around July/August/September. For Castle I bet that we won't get (apart from perhaps one exclusive set like this year's awesome 10193 MVV) any regular Castle set next year but a completely "new" Castle theme in 2011. Btw: In one month BrickCon is already over. At this time I suppose - or at least I hope - that we'll know whether there'll be an exlusive set in January and even to which theme it'll belong and what it'll be. What do you think? Klaus-Dieter

Thank you very much, yellost! The engines and the exterior of the Tantive 4 look awesome and very realistic. Nevertheless it's a pity that they didn't include the hallway - e. g. instead of including the (room for the) transport vehicle and/or the second escape pod. The interior of Leia's office looks great - but why didn't they include real chairs?! The interior of the cockpit looks much better than I expected! Klaus-Dieter

When be geared to this year's SW set prices I'd suppose that the prices for the until now known sets for next year will be: 8083 Rebel Trooper Battle Pack - 15-20 Euros 8084 Snowtrooper Battle Pack - 15-20 Euros 8085 Freeco Speeder - 27 Euros 8086 Droid Tri-Fighter - 27-50 Euros 8087 Tie Defender - 37 Euros 8088 ARC-170 Starfighter - 70 Euros 8092 Star Wars Luke's Landspeeder - 27-50 Euros 8089 Wampa Attack - 27 Euros 8093 Plo Koon's Jedi Starfighter - 37 Euros 8095 General Grievous' Starfighter - 27 Euros 8096 Palpatine's Shuttle - 70 Euros 8097 Slave I - 70-100 Euros 8098 Clone Turbo Tank - 100-140 Euros What do you think? The three City sets you'd like TLG to release
Klaus-Dieter replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Town
Thanks, AwesomeStar! I don't want you to give up your hopes but I fear that road plates with trams driving on them wouldn't take place since these road plates would either have to be much bigger than the current ones or they would have to be taller in order to have the tracks inside the street. Apart from that a tram would be a great idea! Thanks, Macoco! Wishes for trains are of course welcome, too, but please do only post three in total - maybe I'll open a topic of your favourite three Train sets in the Train Tech subforum. Klaus-Dieter -
While reading Imperial Shadow's great review of the 6521 Emergeny Repair Truck I thought: May it be that behind the set name 3179 breakdown vehicle there is an updated version of this classic car - but in orange color, with more tools and the modern car repair worker from this year? Klaus-Dieter
-
Thank you very much for this great review, Imperial Shadows! I voted for Outstanding since I simply like this little car that much (although I don't own it). It offers everything necessary for a decent repair truck: -car doors -tools -minifig Klaus-Dieter
-
That's a very nice MOC, Calvin! I really like it! The architecture of the building looks really great! I read that in the bank near you there are actually no windows. Nevertheless: Without windows it looks more like a bunker than a bank. I really like the brick-built trees in front of the building and the black roof on top of the building. Very well done! Klaus-Dieter
-
Thank you very much for these pictures, Alywin and whung! The steam roller looks too much <insert that tiresome argument>. The police boat is ok - but imo a bit too small for that kind of boat. The doctor's car looks very well designed - but somehow it doesn't fit that it is a doctor's car. It should better be some sort of service or repair car. The fireman's car looks great! Klaus-Dieter

The three City sets you'd like TLG to release
Klaus-Dieter replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Town
So I begin: My three favourite sets I'd very much like TLG prducing are Mall/Shopping Center (100-150 Euros, S@H Exclusive) similar to this my MOC: Pleasure Cruiser (100-200 Euro, S@H Exclusive) like Queen Mary (which it shall at least include: bridge, two cabins, dining room/restaurant, swimming pool, eight minifigs and a lot of accessory) Depot/Cargo Center (90-150 Euros, regular set or S@H Exclusive similar to the awesome 6391 Cargo Center from 1984 - but with a bigger depot, more and more modern interior, bigger and more detailed vehicles and more accessory; but at a pinch it may even be "only" a re-release Klaus-Dieter -
There is "only" the one set 10199, Raphy. And like the ones which can download the instructions of it say it does not include any stickers. Klaus-Dieter

Hello everybody! In the past TLG has been producing many different City and Town sets - the common Fire, Police, Construction Site and Emergency sets as well as civilian sets and outstanding exlusive sets. There have been sets mainly for the audience of JFOLs, sets for JFOLs and AFOLs and even some exclusive sets mainly for AFOLs. But TLG hasn't yet produced everything we want to have as a City set, has it? So the question arises which three sets you'd like the most to see TLG releasing: These can be sets which have been already released but which you missed, these can be sets which have been already released but which you would like to get in a more modern design, with more or less buildings, minifigs, vehicles and accessory, etc. and these can be sets which have been never released by TLG before. So which are your three most demanded (ideas for) City sets TLG should release? Comments are welcome! Klaus-Dieter

Thank you very much for the pics of the promos, whung, the link to the instructions of the Tantive 4, Alldarker, and for the screenshot of the little transport vehicle, Mr. Mandalorian! To the promos: The STAP looks great. But since I don't collect PT sets I won't buy this one. The Clone Walker looks plausible. But the Imperial Speeder Bike is really a shame! Navy Trooper Fenson or rather his friend was very right with how it looks like. It is built totally wrong and even includes a wrong minifigs (Stormtrooper instead of Scouttrooper). To (the instructions of) the Tantive 4: Sadly my computer - like always - doesn't manage to download the instructions from Lego. So I regrettably can't see the instructions. But the screenshot of the transport vehicle shows that the transport vehicle will look much better than I expected. Like mentioned earlier, the exterior looks very well design as does - apart from Leia's chair - the office of Leia. But which I really miss is the hallway! Klaus-Dieter

Thanks, Richie. So the train runs with non-train wheels which can be put into the brick tracks - a very interesting method. I bet that the new City trains coming out next summer will include a new soundbrick, Bachus. A new idea: I would so much like to get a brick-built weeping willow. Perhaps in an exlusive set (since this would be mainly AFOL oriented) like this: Small Park a little park with a round wooden bridge over it, a kiosk, one or two brick-built weeping willows, two benchs, two park lights two dustbins and a small playground including some ducks and swans, some food, some newspapers and a buggy minifigs: boy, girl, grandfather, mother and femle shop owner It could be even combined with or be included in a big exclusive City set such as the awesome 10184 Town Plan. Wouldn't that be ?! Klaus-Dieter

You might be right, ILikePi. But: 1. I don't want to make someone implausible and surely even not angry - but ow sure can you be that his friend has such a good memory and is familiar with SW so he knows the vehicles? 2. I haven't heard, read and seen yet anything similar to the speeder bike but which looks nevertheless different. Have you? I can't remember TLG has been releasing any SW vehicle - even not as promo - which doesn't exist in the movies. Apart from that you can't know whether this info is right or wrong anyway. It sounds a bit unrealistic to me that you get a small promo set - even with a minifig included - already when you buy something for "only" 20 Euros. Klaus-Dieter
-
To the second wave of sets: The Promo Speeder sounds like a regular Speeder Bike with Scout Trooper. This would be a very neat set and a great possibility to get some cheap additional speeder bikes for the Battle of Endor diorama. It's great to read that we'll get a Wampa Attack - after a very long time of waiting this means surely a Wampa and a Hoth Luke minifigure! The cave of the Wampa and some skeletton pieces surely will be included, too. But I don't think that there'll be another Tauntaun included since I think that it will be around 27 Euros (like this year's Echo Base). A new Slave 1 is really welcome since I sold the oldest version (didn't like it any more since it got too small and simple in comparison to all the other new sets of the last years) and regrettably - or now supposably luckily - did miss the version from 2006. I'm a bit sceptical about the minifigure constellation: Some months ago someone mentioned that it might well be that we'll be getting a Cloud City as the exclusive OT set next year (which I could well imagine, too). But then this minifigure constellation would make no sense since - apart from Chewy and Bossk - all the minifigs have to be included in the Cloud City set anyway and I can't imagine that TLG will release exactly four similar minifigs in two sets. Plus - if the Slave 1 was 70 Euors (like the last version) - six minifigures are too much for a set of this price. On the other hand it could even be 100 Euros and then TLG has to justify this price not only with a more realistic looking and bigger version of the Slave 1 but even with more minifigs and with at least one new minifig. Btw: It's really a shame that TLG did release Palpatine's Shuttle and not the Imperial Shuttle of the OT. Perhaps in 2011 - but I highly doubt that. Klaus-Dieter

Any Idea When the Next Pirate Sets will be announced?
Klaus-Dieter replied to Dr. Steve's topic in LEGO Pirates
I think the reason why there aren't any set names or hints for new sets there is that it is imo very likely (since we'll have a new Power Miners wave, the Toy Story sets and the new Atlantis theme - all three already in the first half of 2010) that next year's Pirates sets will firstly come out in the second half of 2010. Klaus-Dieter -
That's a great and very interesting topic, TheBrickster! I voted for grey roadplates simply since the most City sets you can put together to a town layout are downtown buildings. And since there are mainly sidewalks in downtown cities it looks more realistic to have grey roadplates. Plus the most baseplates of City sets are grey, too, so these fit nuch better together. But I personally don't like the new grey roadplates since 1. there are too many sink traps printed on them 2. they look a bit <insert that tiresome argument> 3. you can not buy only straight or only curved or only T-juncitons or only X-junctions but always have to buy a set which mixes theme - that makes them very expensive and you get so many street plates of which you do not need many (e. g. I need many streight road plates but nearly no curved ones). Because of this reason I prefer the old grey baseplates you can even find in my city layout of Legostadt. Klaus-Dieter

Maritime cargo transportation themes and sets
Klaus-Dieter replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Town
It's great to see so many people interested in this topic! Thank you very much for your many, interesting and nice comments so far! Like for some of you, too, it was a very hard choice for me to choose the favourite theme since both themes had pros and cons: 1991: Cons: -brick-built ship base parts -no interior in the lower floor of the ships -the lower floors of the ships can't be opened -very small ships Pros: -decent harbor baseplates -many more minifigs -lovelier design -many more containers -more accessory and more vehicles -containers with doors to open -two containers fit on one truck -cars with doors 2007 Cons: -a very simple harbor baseplate -only very few containers -only very few minifigs -less accessory and less vehicles -no doors in the containers -truck can carry only one container -cars without doors Pros: -bigger ship -ship base part consisting of only very few molds (and not brick-built) -the lower floor of the ship can be opened -interior in the lower part of the ship So I voted for the 2007 maritime theme. Klaus-Dieter -
I totally agree with you, jonwil! A postman Impulse set with a bicycle (it does even not necessarily have to include a mailbox) would be great! And a postman with that kind of trolley you can somtimes see would be very nice, too. Klaus-Dieter
