Thank you very much for the new pics, Sim Avenue and xwingyoda! Like I already thought before, Agents will be no City subtheme. To 8635 Agents Mobile Command Center: *n* That's a awful set -brrrrrrrr! Surely all the other sets of this thme will be as ugly as this one. But luckily Agents doesn't belong to the City theme - so I don't care about it. To 7736 Coast Rescue Squad Car: *y* That's a very nice little set. I surely will buy it because I like these little sets (including the new Impulse sets) which don't cost more than 3 - maximum 10 Euros because you can buy more than one of them to enlarge your collection and they are available even for a little wallet. To 7739 Coast Guard Patrol Boat With Tower: *wub* Amazing! That's so brilliant and excellent designed! I really like it! For me it's the best (not only) City set (from what we know now) this year after 10184 Town Plan! It's exactly this what I wished when writing down my ideas for a lifeboat and a lighthouse on http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...?showtopic=9448 ! That's a dream! The lifeboat is so very well designed with its two chimney, the bridge and the room downstairs, the crane and the yawl. The pontoon and the lighthouse are very well degined, too. I like the surfer with the shark, too. It's nice to see how TLC includes action elemants into the CIty theme without making the whole theme fantasy and consequently boring and absurd. Sadly this doesn't happen with the new "Castle" theme. I hope that both rooms in the lifeboat (the bridge and above all the room downstairs) will have back walls like in last year's cargo ship. Otherwise this will get a very wet matter when the waves come over board and can get into all the rooms because they are open in the back! :-D And I even hope that the room downstairs in the lifeboat will be some sort of first-aid room with a lot of interior. If anybody already knows how much this set will cost, which interior the lifeboat will have etc. then please let me know! Harbor theme on! *wub* I'm very excited about how the Coast Guard 4ward Jeep With Jetski will look like - hopefully with doors and much smaller than this oversized CG Truck With Speedboat! I'd say this year is a great year concerning the City theme! :-)

Thank you for the review, TheBrickster! I own this little nice set, too and I find it a great set! It's full of action but nevertheless saves a neat atmosphere - that's how in my opinion adventure sets should be!
-
Thank you for the review, TheBrickster! Like the Sheriff's Lock-Up, I own this little nice WW set, too and I find that it is a great set! It includes so many weappons and the covered wagon is very well done - it's a pity that TLG didn't release a covered wagon with some settlers, too - but perhaps in the future?!

Sheriff's Lock-Up Photo Review
Klaus-Dieter replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Thank you for the review, TheBrickster! I own this very nice little Sheriff's Lock-Up and I find it is a great set! I wished it from my parents and got it for my birthday when there was a re-release of WW sets in 2002. But it's - apart from the instructions - exactly the same set. No brick was changed - that's what I call a re-release! I really like these WW styled wooden houses with these nice windows! I only hope that Lego will bring back the WW theme with some reworked re-releases and even some totally new sets with new carriages, new minifigs, new buildings (Saloon, Post Office, Train Station, Church, ... => please read http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...topic=9151&st=0 ) and a train! -
Thank you for that news, wulf and Hinckley! To 5372: The most of you probably know my point of view concerning undeads and too much fantasy in the Castle theme (and in all the other themes, too) - so it would be boring for the most of you to say what I think about this set! To 5373: This is a very nice and little Impulse set that even delights AFOLs who aren't interested in the new "Castle" theme - like me - but in the old Castle themes. Of course it's very similar to 5615 and the catapult is in my eyes needless, too. But I nevertheless like this set because it includes another sort of lance which isn't part of 5615, a crossbow and a barrel. (I really need lots of these brown barrels for the Wild West theme as well as for the Castle theme to create a market in each of these themes.)

Excuse me that I answer very late but I was ill since Christmas Eve and am not really in health yet. So - for now - only a short comment: Office buildings would be very nice, a great addition to the City theme, all-round useable e. g. for offices, banks, doctor's offices, ... and - in my eyes - absolutely necessary for every good and nice Lego City! I wish you a happy new year! Klaus-Dieter

Thank you very much for the pics, Steff! To tell the truth I'm a bit disappointed of the new City sets as seen so far: -The Truck With Speedboat is much to big - the truck as well as the boat - are we going to get Duplo sets in the City theme?! I surely will never buy it. -The street cleaner looks a bit comical - since there will be already a public worker in feubruary a mailman with a bicycle and a mailbox would have been much more atrractive! -The kayak looks a bit amateurish - the only reason to buy this set is to collect Coast Guard minifigs! I hope that the Squad Car, the 4ward Jeep With Jetski and the Patrol Boot With Tower sets are going to be better than these sets - otherwise I would be very disappointed of the new CG sets because my hopes were (after heaving read the set names) very high! But one development is very nice to see: TLG included car doors in the truck in the Coast Guard set Truck With Speedboat! *y* Hopefully TLG will do this with all cars in all City sets which are going to be released in the future, too! I wish you a happy new year! Klaus-Dieter

If you ask me: Judging from that what the set names declare these sets seem to be very action based. Because of this I think this theme will be something like the AlphaTeam theme TLG released some years ago. In any case it surely won't be a City subthme because -there are "enough" City sets for 2008 which were already mentioned -e. g. a"gold hunt" would surely not take part in a city -TLG would compete with itself when releasing a new police theme and an agents theme as City subteme in the same year -the police subtheme and the agents subtheme are too similar So maybe it might even be an adventures theme - but I think that it'll be some kind of new AlphaTeam theme. I'm very curious about how the Coast Guard sets will look like. I think that - judging from the Rescue Helicopter we've already seen - they will be great sets. I only hope that the cars and trucks won't get too big and will include doors!

Since I am - concerning Lego SW - an only OT fan and set collector I think that 2008 will be getting a very poor year, too. From what we today know there will be only two real OT sets: The Rebel Scout Speeder and the Death Star. I really like the Rebel Scout Speeder and I think that the Death Star will be great (although we haven't seen pics yet and don't even know what it shall be and what it shall include), too. So I'll buy one or perhaps two Rebel Scout Speeders and save the rest of my money for some of the new great City sets and of course for the brilliant and amazing Town Plan. Whether I'll buy the Death Star or not will depend on firstly which will be included (which new minifigs and which rooms) and secondly how much it'll cost. Perhaps I'll even buy it not until 2009. But apart from these two sets it really seems that 2008 will be a very poor year concerning OT sets. The only hope is that - like xwingyoda already wrote down - we might perhaps get one or two OT sets in late 2008. First I thought that this is a bit unrealistic and a bit too optimistic, but if you look at this year: We got the news of the Hoth Rebel Base (and the Republic Cruiser (which isn't OT)) very late this year - I think in May, wasn't it? - in any case a long while after we knew the summer SW sets. Perhaps it might be in 2008 like that, too?! I hope so for some OT BPs - mainly Hoth and Endor would be great, don't you think?! And I hope for a nice minifig Rebek Blockade Runner!

Your coffee shop is a great MOC, phred! If only TLC would release something like that - very, very nice!

Hello, is there anybody?! It can't be that nobody wants to write down his/her own wishes or to comment on some of my and other peoples' ideas! In order to reanimate this topic - an impulse for new set ideas: There were only very few sets based on the TV subtheme in Lego's past (if you don't count the Steven Spielberg sets) although the TV subtheme includes a very big potential and was and is a great theme. So what about a new TV subtheme?! For example: TV Outside Broadcast Van an outside broadcast van (in the style of next year's mobile police unity) with a driver's cab and two rooms (one for the sound engineer and his assistant and one for the director and his assistant; both including a big writing table with computers, mixers and screens and two chairs), on top of the van there is some place to store TV cameras and boxes with other stuff including a TV camera, three boxes with different stuff that is needed, a microphone with hinge (I don't know the real name), two cups and a grey suitcase minifigs: director, director's assistant, sound engineer and sound engineer's assistant What do you think? Other proposals are welcome!

Ideas for new Classic Castle sets
Klaus-Dieter replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Some new ideas for Arab knights sets: Bad Baron's Secret Cave bad baron's cave (a little prison cell and a big room with a treasure box and a writing table with two little chairs) ncluding a black horse, a camel, two silvery tumblers, some gold pieces, a lot of weapons, a scroll and a narghile minifigs: bad baron, a bad captain, a bad knight, a bad archer and the good king's nice daughter as prisoner Arab Knights including a camel minifigs: a bad captain, a good captain, a bad knight, a good knight, a bad archer and a good archer Impulse sets: Good Arab Knight including a scimitar, an arc, a quiver, a round buckler and a lance minifig: good knight (which could even be used as good archer because of the in the set included arc and quiver) Bad Arab Knight including a scimitar, an arc, a quiver, a round buckler and a lance minifig: bad knight (which could even be used as bad archer because of the in the set included arc and quiver) Arab Magician including the same contents like in the new 2008 Impulse set "The good wizzard" minifig: Arad magician What do you think? And what about your ideas? -
Thank you very much for all your nice comments! Please name me Klaus-Dieter here on EB because I like this name much more than Peter.
-
All hail! My name is Peter Pattschke. I joined EB on May the 11th this year. I'm from Germany. So please excuse me when that what I write down in this forum isn't very good English. My English lessons are for some time ago. *sweet* I'm studying now the first semester as teacher for the secondary school. After at least three and a half years from now on I will take part in the traineeship (which surely will be a very nice time because you then will be allowed to hold education :-) and you'll get your first money in this job ;-) ). I only hope that I'll be engaged in the civil service after that time - the state is saving, so you never know :'-( . But I'm still optimistic. My hobbys are of course Lego *wub* (I'm a real Lego fanatic, so watch out! :-D ), walking, swimming, reading books, writing, painting, tinkering and watching good films. My Lego "hobby subtheme" consists of four parts: -collecting -playing -MOCing -making movies Collecting is what I do the most time (as long as and as far as my regrettably not very well-stocked wallet allows). I play very willingly with Lego. MOCing is something I like very much, too. Making movies is something which I didn't do the last years very much because I had and have less time (I need to learn very much) and you need very much time for producing good Lego movies. Ideas I have enough - but time is missing *sing* ! My favorite *wub* Lego themes are: -City -Classic Castle (CC) (with which I mean all sets until 1999 which include "normal" common minifigs) -Wild West (WW) -Star Wars (SW), but only the Old Triology (OT) When I have got the time for MOCing I usually create City buildings. I did only few WW MOCs in the past and still fewer CC MOCs. I didn't do any SW MOCs and even won't do in the future - that shall be TLG's job ;-) ! But although I create City MOCs I would never like to include any self-created buildings into my Lego City which only consits of official Lego sets. I find that they don't fit. That's the same thing with WW and CC. I don't like sets which include too much action *wacko* capability and abhor sets with too much fantasy and horror *n* contents. I like sets which have a very nice look :-) , which aren't too expensive *y* , which contain lots of (different) minifigs X-D and guarantee a high and good playability X-D and give room and ideas for brickfilms X-O . My favorite EB topics are http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...pic=9151&st=165 http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...opic=9827&st=15 http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...pic=9448&st=195 and all the topics with the news of City sets and SW sets and the topics where you can post your SW set proposals. Perhaps I'll show you some pics of some of my and my brother's MOCs around this year's Christmas and some pics of my Lego City after next year's Easter if I get manage to post pictures here without loosing too much "global space" :-D . So that's now everything I wanted to tell. Ideas? Questions? Comments? Helpful suggestions? :-$ - You're welcome! *y* Peter Pattschke ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EDIT: Oh, I probably shouldn't use so many "clickable smilies"?! - But when I remove them in the "full edit" my "global space" doesn't get again the space it had before!

Another reason not to hide your LEGO fandom...
Klaus-Dieter replied to jedikermit's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Congretulations, jedikermit! I envy you! But perhaps the same story will come to pass me, too :-D since I will be teacher in some years, too. - But regrettably this will take yet at least three and a half years studies :-/ plus two years traineeship. Hopefully I'll be engaged in the civil service after that time - the state is saving, so you never know. But I'm still optimistic. But if teacher or not - you should never hide your liking for Lego. Why? There is no reason for hiding because Lego is someting brilliant! *y* -
I think - like you already mentioned - that TLC only released, releases and even will release products of very famous and successful movies. So a license of the movie you mentioned is - like you already mentioned, too - from today's point of view not very realistic. But I even wouldn't like to see so much some movie based and licensed WW sets - that'll be - like with all licensed products - very delimitating for their playability. OK, I'm an AFOL and so playabilty isn't the first criterion for me - the look, the which is included in the set?, the characters, the price and the how well is it done? is much more relevant - but nevertheless it's a criterion for me. Ad another criterion - mainly for brickfilm fans - is that you can poorly use licensed sets for making a brickfilm because firstly you might get troube and secondly because the characters, buildings, landscapes, ... are so established and afficted with certain expectations that you wouldn't take much pleasure in using these characters, buildings, landscapes, ... for own WW brickfilms. (I'm betimes producing some brickfilms, too.) To conclude: I'd prefer some non-licensed WW sets but would be of course even glad to get some licensed WW sets because better getting WW sets based on movies/cartoons/books than getting no new WW sets!
-
I reassessed it and maybe you're right Brick Miner and we'll get something like a WW Main Street somewhere in the future. Please compare http://www.peeron.com/inv/sets/365-1?showpic=7098 and http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=2774257 - do you see the very similar composition of the pictures (left side - middle - right side) on the back side of each of these set boxes? - I'm hoping and hoping that we'll get new WW sets!!!!! -
-
I have got two new ideas for WW sets: Indians' Funeral Procession a rocky landscape with some shrubs, an implied lake and a fireplace including a stretcher, a horse and some other stuff minifigs: Indian chief, dead Indian and 3-4 Indians to carry the stretcher Hold-Up On The Indians' Treasure Transport a implied forest landscape with a little river, some shrubs and trees including a canoe, two paddles, a treasure box and some gold pieces minifigs: two Indians and two robbers What do you think? Some other ideas?
-
I'd like a comeback of the Forestmen (similar to the Robin Hood theme which was an amazing Castle theme), a comeback of the Ninjas, some robber-knights like the Green Dragon Knights from 1993, some Arab knights like http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...opic=9827&st=15 and of course Medieval twon and civilian stuff.
-
Thank you for the review, jamded! That's a great apartment house! Why only TLC didn't release it as a "normal" City set with an open back side, with some interior, a car and some minifigs?! That would have been amazing - but regrettably that's not the case!
-
Do you mean something similar to http://www.peeron.com/inv/sets/4555-1?showpic=6840 ? That would be great!
-
I have a question according to the nice outlaw which carries my name: Did you design the upper part of the body outfit yourself or was it included in an official Lego set? If so, in which set was it included?
-
I thought about a set which could combine the post and the cargo subtheme: Post Loading Station a crane, a post container truck (Maximum six stuck wide and with doors!) and two yellow containers (With doors!) with post labels including some post cargo stuff, some packets, some letters, a handy and some tools minifigs: crane driver and post container truck driver What do you think?

Ideas for new Classic Castle sets
Klaus-Dieter replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I have a new idea: Since TLC has been releasing "normal" knights the most of its time when Castle products were sold I'm slowly getting bored of these "normal" knights. The wonderful and fabulous Robin Hood theme and the Ninja theme 1998/1999 were very welcome varieties. But the Ninja theme sadly was brought up after two years. That's a pity because the Ninja theme (like the Wild West theme which persisted only two years, too) was in my opinion a great theme. So I'd like to see a new Ninja theme - or yet better - what about some Arab knights?! Like always in the Castle theme it should be a theme Good vs. Bad - I'd choose the good Arab king vs. the bad Arab baron: Good King's Castle a big Arab castle in light colors with drawbridge, portcullis, two towers, castle walls, a little stable and a donjon (first floor: prison and armory, second floor: good king's throne room with throne and treasure box, third floor: king's sleeping room with bed, writing table with little chair and commode) including two camels, a black horse, an attack car, a scalling ladder, a lot of weapons, a narghile, some gold pieces, two golden tumblers, a dog, a scroll and some other nice stuff minifigs: good king, his wife, two good knights, two good archers, a bad knight, a bad captain and a bad archer Bad Baron's Camp bad baron's tent (with simple bed, treasure box and writing table with little chair), bad knights' tent, catapult, a little protection wall and a fireplace including a white horse, some gold pieces, a lot of weapons, a narghile, a scroll, a silvery tumbler and a black falcon minifigs: bad baron, a bad captain, two bad knights and two bad archers Bad Baron's Castle a little Arab castle in dark colors with drawbridge, gates, castle walls, and a donjon (first floor: prison and secret passage, second floor: bad baron's throne room with throne, treasure box, writing table and little chair) including two black horses, two silvery tumblers, some gold pieces, a lot of weapons, a scroll and a narghile minifigs: bad baron, a bad captain, two bad knights, a bad archer and a good knight as prisoner Good Knights' Oasis an oasis with a lot of palms, a spring, a fireplace, a little stable, a little open blacksmith shop (with anvil and chimney) and a main building (with bed, writing table with two little chairs and treasure box) including two camels, a pot, a narghile, a scroll, some gold pieces, a parrot and two snakes minifigs: oasis' owner, an oasis worker, a good knight, a good captain and a blacksmith What do you think about it? Other ideas (for that or even for an other theme) are welcome!
