    Nyx glances up from her murmurings, nods slightly, and changes her focus to Barnacle, but maintains her attack as before otherwise.

    Nyx silently curses the heavens and elements for their unwillingness to cooperate, and as she does so a bunch of smelly pirates appear before her, "yaaarrr'ing and 'raaar'ing and generally being annoyingly smelly and piratey. Boomingham does what comes naturally and starts drinking and barking orders, meanwhile the crew organise themselves into a defensive line. Mac winks at Nyx (no mean feat for a man with a monocle) as Boomingham blusters, and he moves to the front of the battle lines. "Shall I...?" he murmurs to Nyx out of the corner of his mouth "Yeah, go on, eviscerate him " Nyx grins back as Mac advances on Bosun to attack. Nyx herself steps back and begins the arcane incantations necessary to summon Darkness magic, which she channels through her fishy fishy Fishstick towards the Orc know as "Blister" whilst trying very hard not to breathe through her nose due to the appalling stench from both her weapon and the slavers.

    "I have a feeling the elements aren't in the mood to cooperate, but maybe they will reward sheer persistence? Everyone's dry, right? We're insulated on this boat and nobody's standing in any puddles? Good." Nyx carefully checks where she, her team and the rest of the crew are standing, to ensure that nobody's standing in any water. Once satisfied that there is no possible way that she can harm any allies, she prepares a Lightning bolt and aims it at the soggy Orcs, feeling the need to shout "clear!" just before sending it squarely at the enemy boat.

    "Well that's just poo. I shall spend the mere moments before the boats touch by trying out my Aquamarine and conjuring a large wave to wash over the Orc slavers (away from our boat, of course) in an attempt to drown a few of them. And in the really unfair scenario that that doesn't work, I'll just have to beat the hell out of them when they get here. "

    "Okay (not ok-ey) dokey, fireball on the slaver ship it is then." Nyx attempts a nonchalant shrug as she turns away from the team to face the enemy boat, but is in fact trying to hide the fact that she's grinning, rubbing her hands together and jumping up and down every so sightly.

    "Much as I'd like to set them on fire, this is (unfortunately) a good point. Maybe I should just try out this nice new Aquamarine and try to drown a few of them before they get to us? A nice big wave that sort of flows away from us, so it doesn't rock our boat (ship? Is it a ship or a boat? I have no idea) and our boat stays on the water just fine. It might work, and it's probably safer than setting them on fire. Or I could try to enchant their wooden oars with my Emerald and make them beat each other about the heads with them? Or Ellaria could turn their oars into flowers? Larry dear, it's your choice, I'll do whatever you wish before the boats get here."

    "Uhm, so's our captain. And some of their hats look a bit... shiny, but maybe they've got cold heads?"

    "Captain, are you absolutely sure these are slavers and that they mean to do us harm?"

    Nyx's eyes open wide as Ellaria hands her the Aquamarine "Ellaria, really? It's so beautiful, and I can just feel how much I can do with it... Would you like this fish-stick thing in return? I know you can't use it, but you could sell it, and I don't find myself on that many boats. Not usually, anyway and it'll have to be after I finish beating seven bells out of those slavers, so it might be a bit bloodstained, and it'll probably still smell of fish, but if you want it...?" Nyx leaves the question hanging as she hears Boomingham request some arson "I don't mind whether we fight them on their boats or on ours, but we'd better make sure we win as I have no idea how to sail, and I doubt any of you do either. If the final decision is to fight them here, I'll happily fire off a fireball or two to set the boats on fire, and when those have done as much damage as possible, I'd be happy to try out this new shiny gem and see if I can't drown a few with a strong wave. It's all worth a try, but we are definitely sure these are baddies, aren't we? I don't want to set fire to a boat-load of Orcs if they're good guys. Actually I do, I really do; I just wouldn't want to get caught, and I have a strong feeling I'd get caught, what with everyone watching and everything, and I'm really trying to be good, I really am."

    This is a lovely, muti-layered MOC CM! Definitely a great fusion of Friends and Superheroes, with lots of details to seek out. I really like the canopy of the shop across the street from the diner, and the fact that you can see items in the window. The way you've taken the photos is great, to really show off the layers of activity, and all superheroes should have cupcakes after (and possibly before?) saving the world! He's not won yet...

    Really interesting observations there, Scuba. It is fun to play, definitely, and it really seemed a natural progression for Nyx. Originating as a fire mage, the barbarian side feeds into her rage, fuels the inner fire and makes the flames of fury burn even brighter. (And that's slightly alliterated. Which is nice.) She's still moving from being a vulnerable but feisty girl, whose only defence was really either using her charm or setting people on fire, to being more self-sufficient, yet the inherent vulnerability remains. And the fire mage part also (to an extent) feeds the barbarian side too, which does come out with her odd sense of delight in carnage (which was already present). Basically, she's fury incarnate. With nice shoes.

    "Larry, don't underestimate how charming and sweet you are when you're polite." Nyx winks back at Boomingham, and follows up with a wide grin. "I'm not sure about putting the crab to sleep, but I can certainly try to give it one hell of a headache." Nyx once more summons Wood magic from the back row, this time for the Angry Crab.

    "Keep your claws to yourself, crabbo. And Larry, you know I like it better when you ask me nicely bossy boots." Nonetheless, Nyx switches her attack to the angry Naga, by summoning more Wood magic and aiming at him/her/it from the back row.

    Nyx side-steps away from the emerging seaweed, trying very hard not to let the smell get to her, and trying very hard not to trip over poor unlucky Rufindel. "Oh Larry, you are a sweetie, but I'm in perfect health right now. How about healing nice Mr Skrall instead? Or walloping the Naga? I know you'd enjoy that. " Nyx focuses once more on channeling Wood magic at the Angry Crab from the back row.

    "Oh Atters, you just had to see a mermaid, didn't you? What were you expecting? A half-naked fish-woman? Gah." Having rolled her eyes enough at Atramor, Nyx nods in agreement with Boomingham and does as she's asked. She pulls out her Emerald, hoping it will sympathise with Ellaria's goddess, and casts Wood magic on the Angry Crab through her Book from the back row.

    "Hmm, well it seems like fun, but it also seems expensive. I prefer to keep my gold in my pockets, or spend it on shoes or lethal weapons, but to pass the time I'll place a wager. I'll bet 5 gold on Fire (of course) and see what happens."

    Nyx has been on a few ships now, in her service to Heroica, so this time she fares better than the last and seems to have at last found her sea-legs. She sits quietly, eating the food provided and keeping an eye out for trouble. She watches Boomingham spend a lot of gold to win a monocle, and smiles quietly to herself as he interacts with the various crewmen, feeling the familiar warm feeling as she gazes on him. She listens as the former paladins discuss angels, but knows better than to bring that subject up with Boomingham again. Instead, she contents herself with a small feeling of hope - it was clear to her the man was changed without.. She shakes her head. With her curiosity piqued, she rises and daintily dusts off some crumbs from her dark robes, before approaching the man who'd recently lost a monocle but gained a lot of gold. "Hey Mac, now you've finished fleecing the old man for his money, could you tell me what this Triple Magic is? I might be interested in a game, if the odds are right."
