LEGO Ninjago 2021
someguy827 replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I’m also a bit confused, I remember there being a post with information on both the piece counts and the prices of the summer sets, but I can’t find it now. I think you’re right about the $70, and I believe the Bounty was $130? -

Given that the water dragon is supposed to have 737 pieces, that implies an absolutely amazing PPP of 0.068! Hopefully the rest of the wave follows suit and gives us excellent prices like these. I’m disappointed in the temple set not looking similar to the city of Atlantis, however the colour scheme provided by legofania makes me think of the portal of Atlantis, but probably smaller given the side builds. I’m also wondering what part lego could use for the dome covering the deck of the bounty and this one comes to mind immediately. -

I for one am absolutely ecstatic about the $270 price point. Given the excellent PPP of recent creator expert sets, this could very well place the amount of pieces at around 3000, which is honestly a dream for someone like me who missed out on sets like 10213 Shuttle Adventure. I also expect the set to be revealed sooner than later, as the recent creator expert Porsche 911 was revealed on January 28th, with a release date of March 1st. If the set does release in early or mid April, then I expect more info coming soon and a reveal within a month.- 310 replies

The Mountain looks like one of those Friends jungle sets mixed with Jestro’s evil lair from Nexo Knights. The arachnid base isn’t really a base and looks like it’s been plucked straight out of Chima. The other sets either look way too blocky or way too colourful and messy (cough cough guardian lion). Not a fan of this wave at all :/
-
Not a fan of the animal look of many chima sets, and I’d much rather the evil base be some ancient temple looking build then I what I think it’ll be. Who knows honestly, maybe I’ll be surprised.

I think the Monkie Kid sets have proven themselves as being well designed, differently styled but similar to Ninjago sets. My only problem was the lack of any playsets! My favourite set was actually the large Mech not only because of the mech itself, but because of the excellent residential side build. I’m very happy that we’re getting a mountain set and also that it’s the largest side of the wave. If it has around 2000 pieces like the HQ set from last year, then that’s well into D2C piece count territory, and could end looking really good! Not too excited for the evil arachnid base, probably because I’m getting Chima flashbacks. Other standouts include the lion guardian and the dragon horse jet, excited to see what those look like.

Lego Ideas 90th Anniversary Fan Vote
someguy827 replied to Calanon's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I’m looking at all of the many problems created with this campaign and agree that the goal of celebrating Lego with this vote has not really been achieved. I think that the problems come in that Lego has a massive fan base of different ages and different tastes, and has accordingly given many options, but why only with only one set being created at the end of it all? I think that lego could have done two things: 1. Pick the top 3 or 4 most popular themes and make a couple sets 2. Or assure people that just because a theme doesn’t win doesn’t mean that the voices of those who voted will not go ignored, that every vote is being taken into consideration, and that remakes of old sets could come in the future (this could stop people from voting for only one theme, or feeling as if voting for what they really want is a waste of a vote and they need to vote strategically for something that might actually win) Just my two cents! -

No, I absolutely, totally agree with you. Upon hearing of the Columbia I was absolutely appalled. This is just as bad as making a Challenger set in my opinion. Just because the Colombia disaster is less known doesn’t make it any better. Imagine knowing some of the people on that shuttle and seeing this set at the mall... There are so many other space shuttles to pick from, and I hope this rumour comes out false.- 310 replies

LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
someguy827 replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
This whole wave seems very nice, most excited for the Mandalore throne and Vader’s meditation chamber. l’m really really hoping the $800 dollar set isn’t a Death Star or AT-AT, as we have gotten tons of those and having potentially having a new vehicle or location in this incredibly high price range is interesting to me. Is there any chance of the $800 dollar set maybe being the Nebulon B? That would be a dream come true for me.. -

Even though I was disappointed by the brightening up of the blacksmith set, one set I have been excited for ever since it’s release is the Winnie the Pooh set! The show and books made my childhood, and I think that a lot of the things that ruined the blacksmith with benefit the Winnie the Pooh set. I want this set to be as bright and colourful as it gets. Also happy about the precedent set with Sesame Street to allow for new molds. I’m hoping we get a ton of characters, although I’m not sure how you’d do someone like tigger, hopefully a new molded tail that he can stand on! Any guesses as to a release date? -

There was a 136 day gap between promobricks first revealing the sets existence and the catalogue photos being revealed. Honestly feels like quite a journey. -

I think that people complaining about the minifigure selection in the gardens need to remember that it is coming in at an absolutely unheard of 5.3 cents per piece, and some stuff needs to be done to cut down on costs to make that price. -

I for one don’t like it very much. It looks too clean, and doesn’t have the grit, wear and aging of something in those times that was so well captured by the original. The roof is the biggest offence to me. I knew that they would have to change it, but it’s so oversimplified, and the use of 2x2 wedge pieces and shields in such a uniform and boring way doesn’t work for me at all. Not sure why this the case, especially when sets like the old fishing store pull off a worn roof look so well. Even though I was incredibly disappointed with what they did to Barracuda Bay, it works very well as a massive love letter to classic pirates, and I’m happy that fans of classic pirates got a massive set to celebrate their love of the theme. I’m not sure who this set is made for though, and I don’t think the alterations made to it are justified. -

I’m honestly excited as can be! A wave of steampunk ninja Aqua Raiders sets? What’s not to like? Wondering what a hydro bounty would look like.. hoping they still include a deck with sails and the like, but everything’s underwater.. I do hope 71755 is some sort of play set though, as the wave seems very focused on dragons and vehicles. -
Now that we have confirmation of the Ninjago City Gardens releasing on February 1st, does anyone know when the Blacksmith will release? Mid February perhaps?

After reading bricksets review of the bonsai tree and seeing just how many cherry blossom leaves there are, I think there’s definitely enough to fully swap them out. However, the cherry tree at the top of the gardens has a lot more presence than I originally thought, and I think that the greenery of the gardens contrasts very nicely with it. In addition, there’s also green roots coming out of the base of the main tree, and I’m not sure how that would look if the main leaves were replaced with pink. I’m willing to give the set the benefit of the doubt and see how it is first. -

With the new catalogue image, I’ll summarize my thoughts of the gardens in one sentence. I was wrong. The colours do not clash anymore, the details are brought out, this set looks absolutely beautiful. And this isn’t even the entire set, as the pagoda is probably on the next page. This honestly looks even better than the city in my opinion. And 5600 pcs for $300 USD?? Is this a dream or something?? -

At first glance, this set looks like a salad to me. Upon closer inspection, there is a lot of good here. I think that the main problem is the bright yellow and bright teal used for the top section and the spire. Despite this set being more reminiscent of the city than the docks, there is no part of the city that looks that florescent and neon-y. The city’s colours are still far more subdued, and there’s no part of them that looks like an alien base or something. I’m also agreeing with other on the fact that this set should not be called the gardens. This is literally just Ninjago city 2.0 with a tree growing through it. If the bright yellow was swapped for a more appealing and toned down colour, and if the top spire was replaced with something more akin to the temple of airjitzu, then this would be a perfect set imo. -

I guess I jinxed myself by hoping for a more ancient version of the temple, didn’t I? This looks like something from nexo knights tbh. The colours are horrible and neon-y and they don’t seem to go together at all. I will reserve judgement for when we get better pics, but absolute disgust upon seeing leaks is never a good sign. :( -

I totally agree that the docks doesn’t look very good when connected to the city. From a display perspective, its very strange to me how you can’t display the best parts of both sets when they are connected. My main problem with the city is that I’m not a fan of the steampunk-y stuff. think that the glass storefront looks very strange when contrasted with the lower levels of the city. I understand how it’s supposed to be like the new and old parts of the city, however sets like the Temple of Airjitzu, the Docks, and even the fire temple from 2011 are all sets that would fit splendidly into an ancient Japanese diorama. In my opinion, the city would stand out because of how modernized it is. I understand that obviously this is not what everyone wants, but for my purposes, the city just doesn’t work for me. In addition, I think the height of the city kinda works against it, and makes it kinda look strange when it’s displayed all by itself, with lots of walkways leading nowhere. It’s similar to how a corner modular looks strange when it’s all by itself. (Hopefully this will be fixed with the gardens, depending on where it connects) I guess you can tell that a lot of my excitement comes from hoping for a super tall, more ancient looking temple akin to the docks or temple of airjitzu. Is that what we’ll get? Perhaps, and maybe that’s why I’m so nervous and excited. -

Just picked up the Ninjago City Docks to go with the Gardens!!??? I’m actually in the minority as I like the docks wayyyy more than the city for some reason. Figured I should get it now because the price is gonna skyrocket in February.. Was also wondering if the small baseplate with the pagoda in the gardens is to connect with the docks, or if the towers of the gardens are to connect with the city. Hopefully it’ll connect with the docks and make a really long stretch of buildings. My excitement for the gardens is now at a new high! I’m also a little worried/curious as to how narrow the towers are going to be. Promobricks keeps mentioning that they will be super thin, and I’m hoping that they don’t end up looking like twigs. Promobricks also discusses how each floor will be differently coloured, so I’m imaging/hoping it might be like a way taller version of the small buildings in the docks, which are around 8x10 studs, and those look perfect. Thoughts? -

I thought that too for a second, however there are far too many things that don’t make sense. 1. Promobricks said every floor would be a different colour 2. there is no tree growing on the front nor cherry tree on top 3. they are only joined together by a single bridge 4. the towers are the same height This temple complex is what I originally thought the gardens would be, however after learning that the outline is 1:1, it didn’t make sense. -

In my opinion, the February 1st release date could be to allow the set to be revealed on January 14th ?
