  1. DC you are an inspiration to us all, the level of detail in every moc you make, the size, the amount of time and effort, and everything, I just wish I had that many bricks then I could try and attempt something of this quality and size, right now I do my best with what I have but my collection is growing, slowly but surely. Quick question, when you place a plate surrounded by other plates (same level) and you want to change the placed plate because of the colour or something, is there an easy way to remove that plate without removing the surrounding plates? Cheers
  2. Hey guys, for those of you struggling to come up with exotic names here's a way to get around it, firstly think of a few cool words that would best describe your area, secondly go onto http://thesaurus.com/ and type in a word to see other same meaning words, e.g. instead of having 'The Dead Canyon' you could have 'Cadaver Canyon' kinda sounds better to me, thirdly take those words and use google translate to find a more exotic sounding name so translating 'Cadaver Canyon' into Hindi use the phonetic spelling 'Sava Ghati' and there you have a cool sounding meaningful name also you can hear how your name sounds by using the listen feature, any good?
  3. Welcome to all new guild members, my Lord Dextrus Flagg I have returned from a 10 day journey across country, mostly trading for new supplies, building materials and equipment, we have also located a suitable place in Nocturnus to build an embassy, once me and my men have recuperated we will begin work immediately. Faithfully yours Kcaj Nosnikta Back from hols it's great to see everyone's towers and the new challenge, I've got mostly Nocturnus orientated bricks so that's where I'll build an embassy. I'm still in awe of your map 'NM' it's coming along fantasticly, also I think we've all got some great ideas for this guild, joined the flickr group so I'll get some pics up later, got some nice lazy days over xmas Also I'll have to do a bit of a write up of my character sometime including a hometown and try to have a better story with my mocs. Cheers
  4. Hey folks, thanks for the comments and critiscism, agreed it is a bit blocky, I could have added a few minifigs in to liven it but didn't for some reason, guess I was just itching to get some photos done and up before I left for holiday. Right now I'm replying from Lanzarote, yay. If I had spent more time on it I could have fine tuned it but my deadline was the 10th. With my mocs I work with what I have so sometimes I'm unable to add more texture or extra bits, but in future I'll add a few more pics to our guild forum to get some feedback to finish them. Cheers Kcaj. PS Angeli, was the drow tracker called Johnny? (I'm itching to build something now...)
  5. Hi Ska, I'm not an expert with forced perspective but I think it sounds alright so far, a micro village would look nice and should create the illusion you're looking for, if it doesn't look right then just get rid of it, start with a short cliff face with no baseplate so that is the edge of the cliff, similar to my new tower and more with Basil's red tower where they have a cut out effect, some times it's easier to do this then try to do a forced perspective but just keep trying and experimenting I'm sure you'll get it.
  6. Not a really weird place but I haven't been as lucky as some of you. My parent's live in staff's son (8yo) would throw away Lego literally, he was a spoilt brat, over the years I'd end up finding the odd brick on the ground but then when she left we went to clear the place and I found a decent hand full of random plates and bricks, finders keepers, get in!
  7. I can't believe I missed that, I thought it was tiles lol great job!
  8. Greetings fellow members, I kcaj Nosnikta present to you my second watchtower, situated in the Rakath Mountains on the Nocturnian border this tower stands tall keeping watch. Built on top of a volcano a lava moat surrounds it, the tower is crafted from locally sourced solid obsidian with some friendly dwarven help. More photos on my Flickr Topic here. Thanks Kcaj Also, my character Kcaj and his builders wander around the Siccus Badlands going where work is needed, I didn't want to constrict myself to just desert mocs. Y'know I'm really pleased for joining this guild and thanks for having me, I'm thoroughly enjoying this experience and I love all the mocs coming out of this guild, you're all great builders!
  9. Greetings from Kaliphlin, I present to you all my second tower for this challenge, as Kaliphlin has fewer members then the rest it is only fair. High up in the Rakath Moutnain range to the far north near the border to Nocturnus stands a great tower built of locally sourced solid obsidian with help from our friendly dwarves. The tower looks Nocturnus in color but this is due to the local materials as the tower sits on top of a valcano surrounded by a moat of lava. More photos on my Flickr C&C Welcome Thanks Kcaj
  10. I totally agree about the dark blue acents and I think it gives it a kind of regal feel more like british empire style if that makes sense? Maybe because of the lion heads but that's me. Great work on the landscaping too, the wedges add that bit extra detail, my favorite part is the hatch, I never thought about having a 'closed' one, great idea! Well done I really don't know if there is anything to critique on, maybe an interior but lack of bricks negates it, if that is your situation. Kcaj.
  11. Lol NM. I totally agree, it's one of the many reasons why I joined this guild it's the freedom to be able to create whatever you want and we're not just limited to the desert because I was getting a bit sick of tan, I've currently got another watchtower ready to be photographed so I'll get it up tomorrow then I'm away for 10 days. My second tower will be up in the Rakath mountains close to the border of Nocturnus. I've also got a few ideas for mocs but I won't say much yet.
  12. Wahil your tower amazes me, such beauty I'm sure all sailors and traders will be very pleased to see this and help guide them. Also the decorative windows and doors are fantastic Well done P.S. I'm guessing the cut off bit is where the jetty would be, I've done something similar with a second watchtower which I'll get photos of and post tomorrow. Kcaj
  13. Gex it is wonderful to see your tower, not only are your cartography skills great your construction skills are too! Also well done on your artist for capturing the likeness of the mountains. Great work Kcaj P.S. Love the last pic, lol.
  14. If we do have some kind of jungle where MoP says just north where TGE meets TR Mtns then we could have plenty of waterfalls around there pouring down from the mountains. Also, Avalonia's map has a defined borderline aswell as the location of member's towers, looking through our watchtower creations only a few have a location.
  15. Hello from Kaliphlin. Great scene there, love the little building, looks nice and tranquil good job!
  16. Gabe welcome back. Axel nice tower. MOP everyone is welcome in our guild, I think the jungle is a good idea but you'll need to wait and hear from SI and NM. No worries about the character/s I joined with a short introduction first then posted my pics later.
  17. Well done on the ruined look, plus I always like a little story with the moc, but sometimes for me I get a creative block (NPI). I can see these mixed up with Mikey's sentry tower, ones that have been renovated, imo would be more reallistic.
  18. Great lil tower, I might try and get another one done tomorrow but my deadline is 11th because I'm going away. Love the lil maracas. I can imagine these type of towers stretched for miles upon miles across the desert and great escarpment.
  19. I'm itching to get onto bricklink but I'm away for 10 days and don't want to order anything until after xmas because of all the postal madness so I'm building up a mental list. Anyways... I present to you Kaliphlin's Cavalry The Giant Scorpion. A few comments, The legs are based off PQs Pyramid Scorpion thing, I could have done a vig but I don't think it was neccesary, after the scorpion was built I thought it was good idea to have some kind of harness thing with a beastmaster to control the scorpion and point it in the direction of the enemy whoever they are. I'm pretty pleased with it
  20. Hail from Kaliphlin What a lovely little moc, I like how you've got roof slopes around the edge and left it open, adds to playability and I love the story, so sweet. Also some really good quality photos there, what kind of camera do you use? Seeing everyone using cms makes me want to use mine, too bad they haven't done a real arabian one, yet.
  21. Very cool creation indeed, loving those sheep, fwar!
  22. @ Basil - Wahil it is great to know we have such powerful allies, atleast I hope they are. @ Jake - YtR It is great to see the workshop full of life and busy. @ Fonzy - Excellent tower Halvard, our defenses are growing strong! @ SI - Lord Flagg it is great to hear from you and do not worry about those ninjas they are simply customers looking to expand their exotic arsenal
  23. Wehey! That's an awesome tower, love the round shape, the mini oasis and the rock formations are great too, good job, hail Kaliphlin!
  24. How about what I used Pearl gold barbs, got a load from bricklink, I can't remember what for but I used them yay! Like this, But turn them around like the bananas or something.
  25. That's fantastic, excellent job! I sure wouldn't want to get lost in there. I love the use of the green sprue piece, I think it's missing a few things though just some final touches that would totally finish it off nicely like some giant cobwebs and spiders and traps as already mentioned like a spike wall, some spike pits maybe some swooshing axes tomb raider style and ofcourse no labyrinth would be complete without some skeletons, I can't imagine the minotaurs and orcs (i think that's what they are) would be that clean to tidy up the skeletons Nice one
