I thought about that too, also with LOTR elven temple anyone?, I did actually mention it to my local toy shop and she got some in probably thinking I'd buy one but that's when I went on a brake from Lego for about 6 months and I haven't stepped foot in there yet. Next time I get a chance though, fingers crossed she still has some Kingdom sets. I really want that Mill Village Raid, those goats are just too irresistable, fwar! @ Alex - That sounds about right, mid year, so I better get my hands on some ASAP.

MOC: Zigar-an-Gifuzi (Kaliphlin Watchtower)
CptMugwash replied to NiceMarmot's topic in Guilds of Historica
Hey NM, very nice work, loving the story and the detail, the architecture is great, arabiany with a twist, but I can't figure out those bananas at the top of the tower, are they for decoration or something else? Very nice tower, good work! -
Hey guys, after joining a guild and doing the challenges I've gotten into the medievil kinda phase, I haven't gotten any of the latest kingdom sets yet and was wondering when exactly will they be discontinued? summer 2012? sooner or later? Also as a kind of side note, any speculation on a future middle-far east theme? currently it would be ninjago which I know is actiony but really is more historicallyish and before ninjago it was prince of persia, I wouldn't include pharoh's quest because that is definately more actiony but still has historic value.

Thanks, I thought the pieces made a nice combo. -
Thanks Rob and Hartfan. Any more people and I think it would look too busy, I wanted to have a good balance of the look of a busy marketplace and being able to focus on the stalls and sellers, I wanted more guards patrolling the marketplace but I didn't have enough parts, I think I'll be doing alot of bricklinking after winter.

Deep in the desert sands, these mystical creatures lurk. They once thrived in ancient times and pharoh's had them as pets. Now they are near extinction due to treasure hunters who want their golden carapce which has magical healing properties. As you can imagine they sell for a fortune in the bazaars and even more beyond the Siccus Badlands. Also ninja mummies. -
Thanks Basil, I was wondering how to make the wall more interesting, I would have liked to use some techniques from the medievil building guide but I don't have sufficent bricks, seeing the triangular pieces from the city farm set I thought made good fortifications to withstand those brutal siege machines from the other guilds, especially the dwarf tosser from Mitgardia, I liked the crenalations from my watchtower so used them on the wall. Kinda simple but I like it Next we shall see...

Thank you for your kind comments sire. I present to you and all a Kaliphlin bazaar. Topic here. More pics on my Flickr Cheers. -
Welcome all, here is my marketplace for Kaliphlin, it's late here so I haven't done a big write up or anything but here's some nice pics, enjoy. Fancy finding some gems in the mines of Qarkyr? Then you'll need some supplies. Also a black oil trader is welcoming a new shipment. Fresh fruit veg and fish, yes we do have some out here in the desert. Pastries and maps what a lovely combo but don't get your map confused with your pizza. Some scantly clad girls hanging by the well. Animals for trade. A wealthy man looking to buy some slaves. Blacksmiths, inside a smithy hard at work. Please check out my Flickr for more photos and some bonus pics Thanks C&C welcomed. Kcaj Nosnikta.

Thank you for your kind comments my liege. Whenever I'm building for Kaliphlin I'm always thinking of Disney's Aladdin and start singing the Arabian nights song. Oh I come from a land, from a faraway place Where the caravan camels roam Where it's flat and immense And the heat is intense It's barbaric, but hey, it's home When the wind's from the east And the sun's from the west And the sand in the glass is right Come on down Stop on by Hop a carpet and fly To another Arabian night Arabian nights Like Arabian days More often than not Are hotter than hot In a lot of good ways Arabian nights 'Neath Arabian moons A fool off his guard Could fall and fall hard Out there on the dunes

A Discovery in Doktor Frankenstein`s Laboratory

Very nice work indeed, aha! I spied that anvil which is what I need for my blacksmiths, oops, I'm talking too much. Anyways, good moc, loving all the details their, any chance to see the full vig? -
That is awesome, a deadly weapon wrapped in an aestheticly pleasing package, very nice. Burn baby burn, disco inferno! Seeing all these siege weapons makes me want to have a shot at making one, I don't know if I'll be able to create something as original as this though. Well done comrade!

Love the simplicity of it and with the little details like the background mountains and birds, also I like the bee design and the hive with the dripping honey, the ponds a nice touch too. One suggestion, to increase the forced perspective look add extra trees infront of the background behind the trees maybe using a 1x1 green cyclinder and cone then maybe a cone on it's own behind them extending the base a bit.

Thanks for the replies guys, I was going for the arabian kinda style in mind, what I had in my head was Disney's Aladdin lol

Beautiful, it's stunning, that water nymph is fantastic but my favourite part are the birch trees they look amazing. Question, how sturdy are the trees? like if you nocked them just slightly would they fall and you'd have to shout, "Timber!", hoping the minifigs get out of the way in time.

Great work comrade! I can see the AoE in it lol, I love that game too, use to play on it all the time. Love that crane, just think there could be some workers around, some wheels scattered, bits of wood and tools etc, I like some life in a moc, but I do like pics with and without.
-
Great job comrade! I really like the smoothness of it, it contrasts really well with the rough studs. Really digging the beams and arches too. I'm just wondering whether I like it without some bushes and maybe a snake or scorpion, idk.

Thanks, I'll make sure the cellar is stocked with the finest ales

Thank you for the lovely comments, Avalonia seems to be churning out a lot of great creations too.

@ Fonzy, I don't think it's too late, it's never too late, the deadline for Round 1 Watchtower contest is 15th Dec but this whole guilds thing I can see going for a year atleast. Also, would you like to give a short description of your characters? Greetings to all, my lord and guildsmen, me and my men have been working hard and have finished a watchtower to guard the narrow pass at the north eastern point of The Great Escarpment. Me and my men. Some hired help. The Watchtower. Link to thread. More photos on my Flickr. C&C Welcomed Cheers. Edit: P.S. There's some great builds here and Gex's map is just awesome. -
Greetings from Kcaj Nosnikta, me, my team and some hired help have finished a watchtower to guard the narrow pass at the north east point of The Great Escarpment. I really enjoyed building this, I didn't have any idea of what kinda style just a deserty one, or even how to do the little sandy rocky landscapey thingy, this was a first for me to try and do a decent something, this was definately a step outside my comfort zone. More photos on my Flickr. C&C Welcomed Thanks.

Although I am new here I feel I need to voice my suggestions, firstly it is a must that our great leaders and skilled cartographers meet to discuss the borders of Historica, I'm sure the Avalonian map from Gex is the cartographer's simple misunderstanding, I'd imagine the actual river would be the border. Secondly, I think it's rather rash to be building watchtowers along the northern banks of the Red River (I like the name too :)) the Avalonians, wise they may be, may take this flurry of construction the wrong way and next you know it we are at war, this is why before any further construction of watchtowers we must discuss in a peaceful manner the exact positioning of our borders. Very nice LT, love the use of that windscreen piece for the canopy, the decals are cool too. Mind you Sandman has an idea, mobile phones for minifigs

Esteemed Lord and guildsmen, I am Kcaj Nosnikta great inventor and engineer and I request membership in the Kaliphlin Guild. What I bring to your guild is my mind and skills along with my best and brightest workers. Unfortunately we are with lack of materials as our caravan had broken down, but do not fear we will gather new resources and build great creations that will benefit all of the Kaliphlin guild. Best regards Kcaj Nosnikta As soon as I get my hands on some bricks I'll knock something up along with me and my crew ;)
