Kaliphlin Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion

The City of Samrd'dha on the isle of Gorr. I've done a map of my city and will hopefully get some figs done soon like the Sultan, etc. Well done Gabe, an awesome tower indeed and so was everyone elses. As for the criteria the way I've percieved it is either way, I am doing a Kaliphlin style building in Mitgardia so it'll have some snow on and stuff but won't necessarily represent the style of Mitgardia, but it'll be part of the landscape and there'll be a Mitgardian building for comparison. Oh those sand worms are cool, can definately see those around, Dune anyone? it also reminds me of Tremors. They look like they should be in some kind of anime -
Very cool moc, I like the tower, reminds me of the Adams family house lol.

Thanks for the comments, I'll definately be trying the coliseum, but I'll start small first. I'll be starting off the city with the Sultan once I take some pictures. VolcanicPanik If you mean Albion in Avalonia, then maybe but this is more of a personal project and challenge for me. Jakon Ofcourse, we are very interested in strengthening our trade relations with Mitgardia, our embassy is currently being built in Konugard and once built we will be able to discuss further. Thank you kindly. Kcaj Nosnikta

The City of Samrd'dha situated in the tropical centre of the beautiful island Gorr. A busy and popular city with many tourists and holiday makers coming here for it's stunning views. The mountains, called Jhilamilata, direct to the north and east provides plenty of stone for the city. The jungle, called Pracurata, to the south east provides plenty of wood for the city. With all of the local resources and being a tourist hot spot the city has flourished and is now the great city it is today. The main industry that drives the city is tourism and the main trade is tropical fruit from the Pracurata jungle, it also trades spices from the spice islands and stone from the Jhilamilata mountains. The meandering Zenagi river proves tricky to traverse to the novice navigator and if you stray up one of the many tributaries you could find yourself with more than you bargained for, for the locals the river is not a problem and dozens of boats sail it everyday. Samrd'dha has many tradeconnections, mostly with coastal cities such as Mpya Stedor, Ras-el-Akhen, Berigora, Na Ghitan, Stone Town, Barqa, Eastgate and Messahmuk. Samrd'dha also trades with the other mainland cities such as the capital Patraea and Queen's Cross, but it takes longer to reach these places so it's quicker and easier to trade with the coatal cities, quick trade means quick money and along with the cities tourism industry it has made Samrd'dha a very rich and powerful city. Outside the City Mines, Iron, Coal, Copper, Stone, Sandstone, Quartz, Gems, Gold, Silver (Mountains) Lumberyard (Jungle) Plantations, Almonds, Bananas, Coffee, Cotton, Dates, Oil Palms, Sisal (Twine & Rope), Sugar Cane, Tobacco (Jungle) Native Tribes (Jungle) Vineyard (Desert) Farms, Goats, Cattle, Ostriches, Sheep, Pigs (Jungle) Ruins (Jungle) Crypt (Desert) Inside the city 1. Smallers buildings can be incorporated in larger mocs. When I think of more I'll add them. If anyone has any ideas of some buildings I haven't listed please post them and I'll update the map, also if there are any inaccuracies please let me know, cheers. All great cities need leaders, I present The Maharaja Supara Adami, unlike most leaders has a wife rather than concubines. His wife, Queen of Samrd'dha, is called Kutiya Adami and has as much say as Supara in the affairs of the city. The citizens of Samrd'dha call Supara and Kutiya well balanced leaders and have helped the city thrive during their reign. The Maharaja and Queen are accompinied by their most loyal and trusted guards aswell as the High Court Wizard Jadu Padana and Royal Advisor and family friend Bara Mastiska. I've also been wondering how to create brick built dragons, something like this might be a bit big for me so I'll start small and try and do some kind of drake, but this definately is food for thought for me, the articulation and colours are great. Good job
-
Very cool, not sure bout the 'hub caps' a 1x1 round plate might look better if it could fit but I love the way you've used that hair piece, it reminds me of the movie 'Class Act' lol. I do like the window too.

You sir, you sir, you cease to amaze me and everyone else with your magnificent amount of detail. Just to name a few, the use of those white plumes as snow in the bushes and the border are amazing, I never would have thought of using those. Truly inspirational, your collection of bricks must be impressive, I can't imagine how much you'd spend on BL orders to get all of those pieces, those trans medium blue plates don't come cheap and the time you put into your mocs to achieve this level of detail words can't describe, you leave me speechless, I know I'm kissing bottom here but you deserve it

Great scene De Gothia! Lot's of detail and action going on, love it! One thing it's more like a suggestion is the spit roast, I think it should have some rope around it or something like 2 small elastic bands holding it on, I know nobody in their right mind would drill a hole through their pig, or maybe between the legs might work, idk, I just wouldn't do that to my piggies. Another great moc DG, keep up the good work!

Nice update, like your char, I don't have any of the shoulder pads, helm and armour, I think I have his head though would it be possible to portray your char in some formal clothes? Instead of all geared up. Cheers.

Very cool, the corner shape reminds me of the saloon from Red Dead Redemption, the one where you stake a claim to it, those who know it will know which one I mean. Also I bet you're itching for the series 6 cmf bandit, the prints on the legs and torso are awesome. The IJ legs are good for a western theme. So far so great, some landscaping will pull it together nicely, will this be a piece of a larger layout? I can imagine these kind of mocs to be really brown tile heavy. No real crits really. Keep up the great work! Cheers.

Ideas for New Action Themes
CptMugwash replied to Perry the Platypus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Jungle theme with tribes/natives aztec kinda style, plenty of plant/tree pieces maybe some new ones, new weapons like these and figs like these and Spanish conquistadors, bringing back the old helmets, but have the new sword holders from potc. Sets could be like, River Ambush, City of Gold (just a part of a building but with a handful of gold bricks), Conquistador Raid, Jungle Trek. You could say this is more historical then action but it could bridge the gap of historical/action/pirates, I don't know how popular this would be. We'd have to look at upcoming movies and see if Lego would jump on the bandwagon of some of them. Hmm the only one I've found looking at 2013 is the Lone Ranger, TLG could do a Licensed western theme...or unlicensed -
It certainly looks well organised, I haven't gotten around to sorting my collection out properly, right now my current setup is 2 old school drawers, 18 bigish sized draws each, good for big plates and bricks but they have everything in there now sorted by colour. I got 40 small storage bins from screwfix for xmas and are good for the smallerer parts, and I've just ordered 2 mini drawers 40 draws each for screws and nuts but I'll be using them for minifig parts and other tiny pieces. For catergorising, I'll probably do it by colour, type, size. I hope to get as organised as you, you've done a great job!

Kaliphlin building style help for a Mitgardian.
CptMugwash replied to LEGOman273's topic in Guilds of Historica
Oases is correct for plural How about a nice sandwich? Everyone likes a sandwich, bread, baguette, panini, w/e. You could go Mitgardian at bottom, Kaliphlin white walls with arches in middle and a Mitgardian top, for each floor. Perhaps the plot was an old, delapidated Kaliphlin ruin that the Mitgardians thought would be a good place for an Embassy and have renovated it in a Mitgardian style if you know what I mean. Or just do what I do and probably alot of others is make it up as you go along. -
Hey guys, I'm actually looking forward to Lotr because of the new weapons etc and under these circumstances I can make an acception for fleshies, but I do like sticking to yellow minifigs for mocs and stuff, but I do tend to see them as outcasts in my own collection but I have no problems with other people using them in their mocs. It's just personal preferences really. I already have Pop, IJ, HP and Potc characters and sets, just a few though for overpriced extra bits I use BL. IMO I can't see how Friends figs would work unless you put a sheet over them and say they're ghosts. Cheers.

Hi, just had an idea not sure if it would be eligible as an official set but maybe someone could have a go at this, how about a chinese restaurant and antiques shop, new part chinese lanterns! Chinese restaurant could have a gambling den above it and a cat or dog in the alley behind it The antiques shop would have some nice odds and ends, a brick built grand father clock like the one from green grocers, a suit of armour, a real world globe, goblets, etc you could fill the rest out yourself with bits and bobs, upstairs you'd have storage with boxes and stuff and top floors of both maybe small bedrooms? What do you guys think?

Very nice moc, love the shape of the boat and the choppy sea is great! Bravo

My home city of Samrd'dha is open for embassies. I'm currently doing a layout for my city and will do a topic with the story, it will contain my mocs from that city and the local area
-
Great moc, I really like the crumbling wall and the young trees. I've just had a quick go and I think this way works the best, 1x2 brown plate for base, headlight brick with 2 studs, 1x1 plate, 3 brown 'teeth' plates, put the tail at a jaunty angle so it's not properly connected to the stud and use the other 2 to hide the gap then use a dark green/blue teeth plate for the head, then use your imagination to round it out Cheers

Greetings and happy new year Jakon, is it alright if I try and do the north east corner with my embassy, like the mill or part of it, the pallisade wall, gate and river? Cheers Kcaj Nosnikta of Kaliphlin

Rasputin you are too kind, thank you for your comments. As to the plot for your embassy, mine will be in the small town of Konugard up in Mitgardia, I have a nice plot in the north east corner, there is a mill and river on one side and a gate to the other with a pallisade wall going all the way around, for me I am not planning a very large embassy as I'd like to capture some qualities of a mitgardian town and surrounding landscape, so I'm thinking of 16x16 but with multiple floors so it will be tall. I would have liked to have a small oasis conjured by a wizard, an extra piece of home for our members, but I might have to scrath that idea. It depends on how big your embassy will be, try shrinking it down if you want to include other buildings etc. or do cut away buildings in the style of City Corner to save on space. All I can say is just jiggle it around and see what happens. Also may I suggest a small island on the eastern coast for the Temple of Mad Monks, just a suggestion you don't have to roll with it. I also agree with NM Thanks Kcaj Nosnikta -
New Year`s Feast for the World`s End Caravan Co
CptMugwash replied to robuko's topic in Guilds of Historica
Great moc and happy new year. It looks very festive and cosy there and everyone is enjoying themselves. Is that dark bluish grey hairpiece from potc? Cheers. -
The shape of them reminds me of the spartans from 300 at the end, did you try and make a square?
-
HI Zenn, it looks great, you've got alot of awesome mocs too, your use of parts in unuasual ways is amazing, you've got great visuallisation. My own personal pick is maybe a dual tread snowmobile as the single tread looks a bit flimsy but other than that I think it's great, love the skis, exhausts and windshield. Great Job!
