  2. Great contest idea! I hope I have time! But I'll prewarn everyone, if I do, I'm not in a position to build anything huge. Oh, I've got the parts, I don't have the space or time. So I'd go quality over quantity, which isn't a bad way to go, since you only get 3 pics to show off your entire project (don't you dare ask him to change that, I already know you're planning to ask for some other changes ) . Think about that before building the entire continent of South America. First question out!
  3. Should I just rename this thread "The Purple Fedora" now? Seriously, I want one. Of course, I want a fedora in every colour in the LEGO spectrum, including Fabuland Brown, but that's beside the point. Nice job! Firefly. As someone mentioned, Geonosian wings might look more organic insect-y, but they're also ridiculously expensive considering they're the same thin plastic that LEGO makes some of their banners from (like the scorpion banners). The cheapest ones of Bricklink right now are $14.25 and they go up to $39.99. That said, I googled up some images of Firefly, but the best one was from a wiki page that no longer exists. It showed a thumbnail, but even that isn't properly linkable. Whatever the case, the wings were a dead ringer for: Here's a scan of that page of the instructions if you're interested. Overall, very nice job. You know, if Trixie the working girl needs any coworkers, you could always dig up my old halter top decal thread.
  4. Looks like we're pizza people around here, as it's unanimous so far. I must admit, I'd never noticed the snack bar or hamburger stand sets before, and both are very cute, in the simple 80s style that I miss so much. On an unrelated note, I still find it amusing that everyone in LEGOLAND spends nothing but $100 bills, even at the McDonald's drive thru. The lesson here? LEGO is expensive, kids. Make sure you go to school every day, study hard, and grow up to make lots of money, or you won't be able to afford fast food. Er. LEGO. That's it!
  5. You make a good point. Black suits are difficult because you have to border them in something else. Plus, in this case, the shirt and vest borders need to be seperated from the jacket border, or it turns really strange. Here's what I came up with: I could definitely see some of these working for any kind of town setting, but especially the Wild West. With a more somber tie, that last one makes a great undertaker. :skull:
  6. Senior Palomar isn't just an evil man, he's a guy in a suit. To me, he's the great Sydney Greenstreet in Casablanca. Or the Maltese Falcon. Either way, he could be yours with a little colour adjustment. But why stop there? Need a lawyer? How about a businessman? Banker? Politician? Some might argue that we're back to villains. Just load up your favourite paint program and do some colour replacing until you get the exact look you want, it's really that simple. Original Sr. Palomar, flesh neck, yellow neck flesh with dark blue suit and blue vest, yellow with dark green suit and green vest (leprechaun?) Updated Sr. Palomar. All changes are improvements on the original LEGO design. No more tattered look at the bottom. The shirt has a very light grey line at the top so it is seperated from the jacket, making those colours easier to change. The tie is now solid instead of bordered in white. It's also divided at the knot, as it should be. Basically, if you want to make your own custom one, this is where to start. The only limit is your imagination!
  7. Updating the index now, and hey... where did all the Fabuland love go? It only takes a few minutes a day to eventually create something Fabulandulous. Don't you have a few minutes to spare for us?
  8. Would a kiss from Inga make it all better?
  9. Maybe you need to refresh your browser, mister cleaver! I feel like I need to do a PBS style ending here. This contest was made possible by donations from: Captain Green Hair, Hinckley, and Mr.Phes, as well as viewers like you.â„¢
  10. ??? Druth Castle Hallway Lord Yodarth hates to be disturbed! Oh, I assure you, he's never been more disturbed than he's about to be. Uh... we're here, this is his office. This is the Grand Hall. He's been working out of it for a while now, he says it's more secure. More secure than what? Well, it has no windows. Windows. He's that worried about invasion? Yes sir. He assures us that we could be attacked at any time. Hmph.... Are you going to open the door? I thought maybe we could knock first? I'll take care of it. The guard looks momentarily relieved. Aluvar steps back a bit, then casts a quick spell, vaporizing the door. Aaaahhh... Seemed quicker. A voice bellows from out of the Grand Hall. WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS? OH NO! INVASION! SOUND THE ALARM! Aluvar steps into the room and sees Yodarth, a very short asthmatic man with a slightly off complexion, standing behind the main dining table. ALUVAR! WHAT THE... Shut up Yodarth. WHY, I! Yodarth is breathing heavily. SHUT UP! I will not! Yodarth coughs. Aluvar waves toward Yodarth, pushing him back down into his chair and pinning him in place. Let me go! I plan to, as soon as I find out just what the hell you've been doing here. I've been protecting the League, of course! Protecting it from what? IT! It? The evil! Aluvar thinks for a moment. How much can this fool know? What evil? The evil that surrounds us! It's THEM! Them? Don't you know anything? Fine, I'll explain it. Yes, please. Aluvar points at a large chair, which slides over to him. He sits down comfortably. It's been happening for a long time. All these new members. New members? Joining the League. They're so young, so stupid. I hate them all! They're diluting the power. They don't understand the old ways. They want to do new things, they don't respect us. New members... The strength of the guild is in it's new members. We're here to guide them, sure, but in the end, they are the future. NO! It isn't about the future! It's about the past... don't you understand? Yodarth is breathing heavily again. I do. It's about you. You feel threatened by them, you want things to be the way they always were. Well, they can't be. THEY CAN! Whatever the case, you aren't up to this anymore. I think it's time you retired. You'll always be remembered, but it's time we move on. I... Guard! Uh, yes sir? Have there been any other recent visitors? Oh yes sir, quite a few. They're currently being held in the dungeon. WHAT? It isn't like they're being tortured, it's a nice chamber and all. Take me there. What about me? Maybe you can go there when I'm done with you. Uh... Aluvar and the guard leave the room. Yodarth slumps down in his chair, resigned to his future.
  11. Welcome to EB and most of all, back to the brick, Sandy! It's always wonderful to hear of someone finding their way back to LEGO, especially after so many years. This current Castle line is quite impressive, I can see why it would do the trick. It even brought me back to Castle, after losing my interest in it way before my actual dark ages. A new comic would be great, I don't think we've ever had one told from a female point of view before, certainly not in Castle. Please be sure to keep us updated on that, as well as any MOCs you may wish to share. I am one of the few lucky ones in that the love of my life has actually shown a promising LEGO side, despite not having any interest in it as a child. Keep working on that boyfriend of yours, if he's worthwhile, he'll come around. Thanks for joining and making such a detailed introduction!
  12. Welcome to EB! This is a very nice MOC, I like the effort and techniques used. I'm afraid that some members won't understand what it is, so they won't appreciate how nice it is, so I'll try to help out by explaining what I think you intended. Basically, it's the LEGO equivalent of a music box, though it can't play music, of course. The outside knob turns a couple of gears that wind up a LEGO belt (rubber band). The switch on top releases the gears and causes the band to unwind, turning the middle wheels and attached dish and round bricks, simulating the turning of the music disc. Honestly, when I first looked, I thought it was sort of random, but as I examined each part, I realised that it's very well thought out, with each assembly serving a specific purpose. I would suggest resizing your pics a little smaller though, say, no larger than 640x480, if you can. Smaller pics will show plenty of detail while loading quickly for most users. There are also a number of free online services to do it, just Google "Free Picture Resizing" and see if you can find one that works well for you. Again, great job, thanks for sharing it!
  13. Despite what the LEGO designers think, LEGO clocks don't only need to be right twice a day. No, you can make a clock for any time you want! Ok, so that specific one will only be right twice a day, but you could print lots of them and change as necessary. Take that! This is my first design. I kept it simple. It prints on either a round or normal 2x2 tile. All of the colours may be changed fairly easily, except the numbers. Using a simple fill tool, you can change the light grey background, the clock frame and the hands. Using a colour replacer, you can change the pure white face to something else (or with a normal fill tool, if you make sure to get the spots inside the 6 and 9). The numbers can't really be changed easily, but the non-number hour markers can. I might do more of these in fancier designs eventually. As it stands, this was a test. I wanted to see if it was possible to make a decent basic clock with all the hands necessary to mark all of the hours, and all of the major intervals. Need a clock to say 4:55? Got it! Need 11:20? Got it! Need 9:43? Get out of town! Click thumbnails for full size decals. So there we go. 600dpi as always. Copy the hour and minute hands you need and paste them in the middle of the face. I can't come up with easier way to do this, but would be happy to hear suggestions. Thanks for looking!
  14. K-19 Castle Town A Crowded Street Wait up! I will not! Come on, Princess! Alyss stops in her tracks and turns around, angrily pointing a finger at Shadows, then at Flangdor, then back at Shadows. Look here! I am! Not what I meant! Well, what? First off, don't call me Princess. You aren't allowed! Really? Why? It's none of your business! And that's the second thing. Mind your own business! Right now, you are my business. I am not! According to Aluvar, you are. Aluvar be damned, I'm not your business! Aluvar is currently assigned authority in all matters of this kingdom, equal to your father. Further, your mother asked me to keep an eye on things. OH! I... AAAH! Not the first time I've gotten that response out of a woman. Be nice... I am nice. Wait a minute here. You're going to follow me wherever I go? Exactly. We were asked. Well, he was, and I'm sticking with him until this whole nasty business is taken care of. Fine. Fine? Fine. Alyss walks off, heading toward the center of town. I've got a bad feeling about this. Yeah, I know what you mean. ??? Druth Castle Front Gate Aluvar approaches the gate, Pinky flies overhead. A lone guard stands watch in enchanted armour and carrying a particularly nasty looking flail. Excuse me sir. Do you have business here? Business? Oh, yes, yes I do. I see. Are you expected? Rarely. Rarely? That isn't a very good answer. He isn't a very good answerer. Sir, please ask your bird to stay out of this. Pinky... Yeah yeah, whatever. Now, is someone expecting your arrival here today? No. Then I'm sorry, but I won't be able to admit you, unless you have specific business in the castle. We are in a heightened state of security. One guard is a heightened state? The guard waves a signal in the air. 14 armed knights appear on the castle wall above. Well, that's more like it. Look here, you stupid bird! The guard raises his flail toward Pinky. Leave him alone or I'll have you cleaning pots in the kitchen by nightfall. You'll what? You pompous... You don't know who he is, do you? I'm not talking to you. You'd be smart if you did. Fine. Who is he? He's the current head of the League of Wizards. I'm sure that will come as some surprise to Yodarth. Yodarth? That old fool has never been in charge of anything. He is the ranking member of the staff, presently. Aluvar presents the letter he is carrying. The guard reads it, becoming more and more surprised as he does. I... this seal is official. This letter. I... The guard falls to the ground at Aluvar's feet. I am so sorry, m'lord, please accept my humblest apologies for this mistake. I wasn't informed. I don't know why I wasn't, but no one told me of the change. I... Get up, you look foolish. The guard stands quickly. Now, hand me your flail. Uh... yes sir! Aluvar takes the flail, examining it closely. This shouldn't be here. I enchanted it myself, it was intended to fight off Black Wraith Demons. Why are you using this? Yodarth opened the armoury. He said we were expecting trouble. Oh, he was right about that. Take me to him. It would seem that his services are no longer required here. I'm not allowed to leave my post, but I will see... NOW! YES SIR! The guard snaps to attention, signaling a replacement to take his place, then leads Aluvar into the castle. K-18 Castle Town Barth's Books I never would have guessed that you'd let me carry your books so soon. What? You say that like it has some significance. Well, in my day, one of my days at least, it was a sign that you were going steady. Going steady? You speak in riddles. I haven't even started the riddles yet. I'm still at the pun stage. Alyss puts two more books on the already heavy stack in Shadow's arms. Seriously, this is too much to carry. Shadows tosses the entire stack in the air, much to the dismay of Barth. As the books reach their maximum height and begin their descent, Shadows waves his hand and they stop in mid air. Cute trick. That is a good one. Could you teach me it? Sure, later. Shadows begins moving the books around in the air, until they form several neat stacks, hovering next to him. You might come in handy after all. Thanks. I guess. Put these on the royal account, Barth. Of course, ma'am. Alyss begins to leave the store. Hey, how about telling me what we're up to here? Well, it's time I brushed up on my magic if we're going to find and free Rangdar. We're what? Oh no, no more adventures! You don't have a choice. You're supposed to watch over me, well I'll give you something to watch. When you put it that way... Lead on! Impossible... just, impossible. Alyss leaves the store. You know, I think she's starting to like you. Maybe. Shadows and Flangdor leave to catch up with Alyss, who is already heading to the next shop. Looks like it's going to be a long day. K-13 Black Knights territory Outskirts of the Western Capital You know, it's funny really. It seems like I've known him for ages, but it's only been a few weeks. I was returning to Crown castle after taking a message to a southern kingdom and he was standing in the road, with his chest and birds. In the road? Yes. I think they were discussing something. I'm still a little shocked by talking birds. Maybe we're shocked by you too! No offense intended, Bluervo, honestly! Yeah yeah. So, as I was saying, I stopped and talked to him and it turned out we were going in the same direction, so I offered him a ride. I had no idea who he was. He just seemed... well... eccentric. It must have come as a shock to find out the truth. A lot of my dealings with Aluvar have come as a shock. Tell me about it! Are you watching ahead? Yeah yeah. Grandoth whispers to Lord Kenneth. They act like they don't get along, but those birds care as much about him as he does them. I've grown pretty fond of them as well. And we have excellent hearing! Dammit! Lord Kenneth chuckles.
  15. Supply pics of the monks and I'll see. The Pepsi/etc would probably be easier for you to do through existing graphics on the net. Basically, just find a small image of a logo and resize it down. It would be a lot more effective than trying to draw it. You need to be really specific as to what characters, then supply exact pics of the versions you want, or it's unlikely anyone will try. A lot of characters appear in different outfits at different times, so examples are vital.

  17. Let's say no for a few reasons. Multiple accounts on a single IP make it hard to tell if there are really two of you. Two, the system won't take the same email address twice. Three, she's 8. Please feel free to post things for her (like mocs), but at 8, she really isn't old enough to participate in the site, or be exposed to some of the things that might be posted here. Be a good older brother and keep doing things the way you did with her Indy thread.
  18. Crazy old wizard, eh? Well, I know a bit about them. I guess I'll have to join in.
  19. What were you people thinking? And worse still, I forgot too. I thought Sinner was the Self-Servicer...
  20. To quote Queen in Bohemian Rhapsody, "Any way the wind blows..." *gong* Only seems natural.
  21. In keeping with Theme Month tradition, I'm pleased to announce the first of our specially planned activities, the Caption Contest! Keep your eyes open for more Indy fun, in the very near future!
  22. Welcome to a fine Theme Month tradition, the Caption Contest! The picture: The rules: 1. Submit up to 3 captions for this picture. 2. Have fun. 3. See rule 2. Simple, isn't it? At the end of the month, a specially selected panel will pick their top 10, then you'll vote for the best caption of them all! Good luck!
  23. Is it possible to have too many of anything? I look at weird parts or bulk quantities as new opportunities unrealised. I mean, sometimes, one of something is too many. Ultimately though, it's all a matter of the specific part. I don't mind having a hundred spears. Just consider yourself lucky you don't have one of these. :skull: I would say though that if you have too many of something, send them to Alice as she requested.
  24. Well, first off, this would probably work better in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds. Second off, I think this is what you mean. I'll move this and leave it open for now. If that link takes you to what you had in mind, just post back in here and let me know and I'll close this, otherwise explain more clearly what you'd like to try here and we'll see how it goes. Thanks!
  25. Does the question really make you so sad? I didn't think you'd been around long enough to develop an attachment to them. Simply put, they'll eventually be replaced with standardized threads. In the case of reviews, I'm considering adding them to the MOC index, or possibly just making a seperate review index. At this point, all of those old indexes are outdated, and in many cases they weren't complete, just sort of hit and miss. The new ones will need to be created from scratch, which will be a lot easier now that the forums are being properly divided and sorted. Now doesn't that sound good? You can trust me, I've never steered you wrong, have I?
