  1. If we wait for results at the end of the day, how do we know we're not attacking a target that is already dead, or just short of attacking one? In this case, do we have any way to know if the attacks were successful or if the day will end and we're 1 hit short, thus wasting our efforts? Or on the other end, too many people attack and waste their attacks literally beating a dead horse. I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but it's just something I think I need to understand so I don't waste my actions any further by not using them or using them on a pointless target.
  2. Actually, it's the kind of thing that helps give me an idea of what people are thinking, and if I know what they're thinking, I have a better chance of figuring out what perspective they're looking at the situation from. That's incredibly useful to me, and I hope others. If you have a conversation suggestion that you think would be more useful, though, please feel free to add it.
  3. Oh, I only saw 2 and with no confirmation of it doing something I didn't know if anything actually happened.
  4. As someone mentioned, my role is one that has the ability to use a gem or spell or something, but up to this point, I've had no reason to use it as I'm still not sure how this whole thing works. For fear of going out of character, I'm more used to dealing with the mafia, I don't even see how this whole situation is properly unraveled to insure only targeting the scum, so I've been inactive. I suppose it's time for that to stop. Reading what I have thus far, Piro looks suspicious as hell. Perhaps an attack is in order? Does anyone agree? Is this even how things work?
  5. I wouldn't say that, I think we're starting to get some indications, small as they may be, of the way some of us think. That's always useful. The conversation today is driven largely by the events we've seen thus far, I don't see that as exclusive to my comments. As for that whole policy thing, that wasn't my conversation either and I honestly found it a little off the mark. A day 1 lynch is mostly random luck, whether it's based on whatever nonsense a policy lynch is. I don't even recall hearing the term prior to this situation, but I've been out of the business for a while. My only point was the random part, not the policy part. Interesting point. I thought posting was required. Then you're either ignorant of mafia history or wanting to hope that others are and will believe that. I've seen plenty of cases where a role that was held by someone who died before being able to use it was passed on to give the town a decent chance. Obviously we don't know if there even is a role to pass on, or if that role could be passed, but it can't hurt to mention the possibility. I suppose if his role was billboard sitter, you might be right, otherwise, your comment makes no sense at all. In other words, your comment makes no sense at all. Isn't that about all we can do at this point? As much as I support a lack of killing on the first day, sitting on our hands after that is just foolish and only benefits the scum. Given our inability to communicate privately, we have no investigation results to go on, so what would you have us do if we aren't supposed to speculate about issues we have no real knowledge about? That's everything. At least it is for those of us in the town, the scum should have lots of knowledge, but they don't need to speculate. There's something to think about. Seconded.
  6. There's an assumption I don't want to make, despite the slightly crazy tone of the killer. I've made a similar assumption before, only to find out that it was a vigilante. That said, I'll be very disappointed if we have a vigilante who chose to make a kill so quickly and based on nothing. Bottom line, if that was a scum kill, it's quite possible that there isn't a SK and if a vig exists, they aren't randomly bloodthirsty. Out of all the possibilities, this is the scenario I'm hoping for, since it's that's the one that is best for us.
  7. Despite the threat, there wasn't an actual rule change, so it still isn't technically required, but we're obviously going to have to do the job ourselves and that means we need to start discussing matters early to prepare for a vote and the resulting discussion from it. For starters, now that we know Donny was one of us, I'd like to ask those who were suspicious of him yesterday to explain those suspicions. I know I hadn't seen anything that struck me as odd in his statements or behaviour, so I have to wonder why others did. It's not much, but it's a place to start, given that he ended up dead. On a similar note, does anyone think that the wording of Donny's situation might indicate that he might have been some kind of watcher? Specifically: If that's the case, I wonder if someone had a way to know that and took him out intentionally, as opposed to just a random kill. I also wonder if such an ability would pass on, I certainly hope so.
  8. This whole mixed up night and day thing is the perfect time to try a little party powder, and I know just where you can get it at the family price, none of that overpricing I'm sure those damn Eye-talians do in the car family. The laughing is all well and good, but the pointing and laughing just hurts. Or so I hear. *sniff*
  9. Despite my hesitance to take a shot in the dark, I would still vote if there was something even slightly more solid than what I've seen tonight. Since we aren't required to vote, I'm certainly not going to place one that would amount to no more than pure guesswork, that can't help our situation. I hope I can be more helpful tomorrow.
  10. So many words, so little action. I could use some action. One does not live to be 466 by spending all their time talking, or if one does, it must be really boring. I am Shadir Oswain, a Level 21 Mystic Knight, at your service. I can't honestly catch up with all the things that have been said today, but I very much wish to give any possible support to routing our enemies. Has there been a consensus as to anyone who is trustworthy or a target that isn't? I will try to follow the conversation more closely, but it is difficult, I have spent many years fighting in foreign lands and my sleep schedule isn't completely compatible with most of you.
  11. Did you? Damn, that was the first plan I've seen today that wasn't the equivalent of metagaming based on roleplay. What you advocate will, in all likelihood, get someone innocent killed and we won't learn anything from it because everyone can just say "oops" and move on. If you want to call not putting everyone in a room, turning off the light and shooting someone randomly "inaction", so be it. If you can honestly tell me how that aids the family, I'll be all for it. So, to pose the same question to you, did I miss where you actually gave a plan of action or was it just posturing to look helpful when you aren't actually helping, and are, in fact, pushing people into thinking that the only correct decision is to kill a member of the family in the name of action? That's actually pretty damn suspicious, now that I think about it. Maybe all this talking is helping.
  12. I worry when people try to misrepresent what I say, and more when they advocate that the likely killing of one of our own is somehow going to help us figure things out when in reality everyone will just say "oops, day 1, always happens, not our fault." Ping. I'm not sure how that's going to help, but I'm up for it, as long as the job is in the hands of professionals. Hey Candy, want to help me out here?
  13. I think it's worth reminding the less experienced folks, as you call them. If you've paid close attention, you'll find that I'm always against the shot in the dark day 1 lynch, and you'll also find from experience that it's so rarely right that it isn't worth the risk. To me, that says that people who are too confident about voting on day 1 know that they can't hurt their team, and the only people in that position are the scum or whatever neutrals we've been cursed with, assuming we have. This is why I dislike day 1, no one can actually say anything useful because no one knows anything (except the scum). It's all roleplay and posturing and people thinking they can spot the scum magically based on some slip of the tongue that never happens. Then if you do say something meant to be informative to newer members of the family, you get looked at funny. Saying nothing often gets you lynched, which as I said earlier, rarely works out either. Day 1 is basically free day for the scum and I'd rather not see us play into their hands. Do you disagree?
  14. Truth is truth and we shouldn't be afraid to say it, it's the way these things always start. At this point, the only people making me suspicious are the quiet ones and that rarely ends up helpful this early.
  15. I've really got to stop sampling the merchandise, I'd swear there's a furry midget fighting a penguin over there. Oh, it's Byron. And a furry midget. Well, whatever. I don't really expect any of the scum to confess today, so short of that, I don't see much we can do until we've had a chance to do some investigating and watching and whatever else we can do. Until then, I have some, uh, product to sample. Quality control and all that. Someone get rid of that midget, already.
  16. I don't have a single clue what is going on here, but I could use a good bloodbath, plus the honour of representing the great and noble House of Shadeaux. I'm in.
  17. Hey everyone, I'm Shane Donalds and I'm here to liven up this little party with my bags of "treats," come and get 'em, first one is free!
  18. Actually, he voted for me then said not to metagame. It's a subtle difference.
  19. Why do on day 1 what you can do during the prologue? Vote: Scummy McSandvich the KGB agent / Darkdragon
  20. But I think we can put our differences behind us. For science. You monster.
  21. Oh, it's you. It's been a long time ... how have you been?
  22. Am I really doing this? Yes, yes I am. 1. What is your mafia experience here on EB? How about other sites? I've played no less than 198 games and won them all. Except for those couple where the host sucked. Don't suck. 2. What do you think of your performance in EB Mafia so far? What are your strengths and weakness? What do you want to improve? I'm the Mary Poppins of Mafia, practically perfect in every way. I should try to be less perfect, it's distracting to the other players. 3. What do you think of the no-PM rule? Traditional. Old school. I like it, it brings back good memories.
  23. Seems like this has gone off course now, so it's time to stop.
  24. The issue is TLG policy, whether or not either of you brought it up, until you know what that consists of, you can't even legitimately speculate on the subject. What you do or do not find possible is irrelevant. Discussion over.
  25. Congrats, Sandy! It should be noted that those of you who pay tribute to the House of Shadeaux should continue to make those checks out to cash, we're still between banks.
