  1. Oh, this is a good idea! Animated fight scene!
  2. I like these micro builds!
  3. Thank you everyone for the comments! Yes, the roof is removable and the interior can be accessed. There is a little kitchen with stone furnace, and a bed and some shelves. The door opens. That's right! Keep the competition fair!
  4. Thank you! I knew I forgot something...
  5. We have got the Medieval Blacksmiths set, and only that single building. Blacksmith, and now almost vintage Market Village are still very popular. This could be continued as a theme: Medieval Village Life. Lot of sets are possible from small to large ones, like Shepherd with herd and a rouge Toll post with travelers Fisherman's hut Beekeper / candlemaker Farm house Clayworks: clay pit, brick kiln / pottery Wood works: Lumberman / cartwright / carpenter Marketplace Tavern: the only place to find soldiers Temple with a little cemetery and many others. But no castle or fort. I think it would worth to gruop the connecting crafts into a single set, it would allow more play features. My two sets for Category 1 Shepherd with herd. ~65 pieces, including minifig parts. Farm house. ~770 pieces, 4 minifigs My minifigs for Category 2 They are not named characters, just generic minifgis. The folk around. Again, no solders, everyone has a ton of them. From left to right: priestess, farmer women, witch, clayworker, shepherd, adventurer, old farmer, fisherman.
  6. About 210 pieces, if I remember well. It is a bit more, than the approx 140 pieces of a mini set, but contains 56 link thread pieces. The 9391 tracked crane had 218 parts.
  7. I will put it next to my mini snow groomer
  8. The anniversary castle is limited by it's 4500+ bricks. This sounds funny, because that is a high number compared to an average set, but this castle has 10000+ parts. A bit more, than double of the anniversary castle. But basically I agree, although Lego could make a better one, it is still the best castle set ever released. Thank you very much for all the comments, I'm glad you like it. There is a lot of work in this castle, and it is a really pleasant feeling that many of you are interested. I have no dedicated lego room, I'm so jealous when see what others have. It was placed on my coffee table at the middle of the living room for a year or more. Now I scattered the segments into vitrines, wherever I could find enough space for them. Originally I wanted to add many things to the castle, including a citadel at a raised ground, where there could be underground features. But it would consume too many bricks, and finally I not even started to design it. But, under the Old Tower, there is a small emerald mine behind the stables. The big rock is visible outside, the internal part is the mine. I'm not sure if it is visible on any of the images, including the old ones, but the mine is there. Unfortunately I don't have many dwarves, the Fantasy Era finished before I started the castle, while the Hobbit ones were too expensive. All the dwarf parts are too expensive now.
  9. I just tried and failed with creating some minifigs in LDD with existing pieces only. The problem is the extreme limited selection of prints. StudIO is somewhat better, but imo there is no way to beat physical builds and part selection. This rule seems to be a bit too limiting on digital builds.
  10. Two sets only? And one is so small. Hardly defines a full wave. On the other hands, time frame is short. OK, lets see what can we create.
  11. I came back from my dark ages at 2011, when I purchased the Medieval Market Village and the Mill Village Raid. These exceptional castle sets inspired me to build my own castle. The castle, which I have never had during my childhood. I can remember the serious sword fights between my city minifigs, holding antennas in hand. So the castle was something missing from my life, and which had to be corrected. Everhold is the result of the last 10 years. Of course, I built many other things during the years, but always went back to the castle theme. There are old and new sections of Everhold, the old sections has been facelifted to fit to the newer ones. Historically everything started with the Old Tower, closely followed by the port. Then much later I added the Large Gate with the walls and the Tree Tower. Then finally I had a nice, closed castle. And I just recently added the Elven Tower, which must be familiar for many of you, it was inspired by the Krylhan Castle by @Perterz. Land side view. This is the newer part. Port side view. This is the older part. This is the Old Tower, the beginning of everything. One still can find some of the 10 years old original images on my flickr page. Since that, the tower was facelifted two times. First, when I upgraded the battlements to fit to the newly built sections, and later when I added the transparent water tiles, and many colorful details. The Old Tower can be opened, and the internals accessed. I just noticed, that a poor minifig put the red-gold flags over the gate at the wrong order. Someone will be shorter by a head. The port is modular, connected from four segments. The fifth part has been added later to connect it to the Old Tower. It is possible to arrange the port into several different configurations. My personal favourite part is the Large Gate. Both the drawbridge and the lattice can be operated through a ratcheted technic mechanism. The wall segments are opened at the back side and contains some play feature. There is a round table at the treetop, where the human, dwarwen and elven kings meet. The tree is the simbol of their everlasting friedship. You can find many more photos at my flickr page.
  12. Very cool modular design. I still cannot make any similar. I also like the cross positioned transmisssion. But the total difference between the four gear ratios is just 1 to 1.5
  13. Technic trees, cool. How could I miss this so far?
  14. I think TLG is also aware of the problem mentioned in the title of the topic. At least they are tring something new with the sets 60353-60355. They are providing them without instructions, focusing on creativity instead. However there is an app, so it is a guided creativity. Anyway, this is a different kind of starter set, then previous ones. I'm really curious how successful will it be. I myself don't buy IP based sets, because I don't understand why to accurately copy already existing things, when you could build original ones. But the problem is definitely there, and in many different forms. For example see the results of the Technic competitions in the most active subforum of EB. There is a tendency, that less functional, but real world based (IP based) builds can reach better positions, than original creative builds. And we, Eurobricks members vote by this way. I could totally understand, why TLG releases so much IP based things. But bricks are just bricks, and I will continue to build my own creations, and won't care much about from which sets the bricks are come from.
  15. Wow! I'm not a fan of classic space, and definitely not of bionicle, but this build has some very clever solutions and part usage. I love it.
  16. It interferes with The Globe. It is better than The Globe, but The Globe is already on the market. Land Ahoy should be resubmitted, when The Globe retires.
  17. It is interesting, that TLG launched a vote at May to select an extra idea, because they have an extra slot. Now, they approved only one idea, however there are usually approve 2. Why not selected 2 ideas from this wave? Did they already know at that time, that only one wil be selected from this wave? On the other hand, I could understand the decision. Because, to be honest, I would disapprove all of the entries. I considered about 8 ideas as possible future sets, but all of them had cons, why not to approve. And we got Hocus Pocus. It was not even on my list. Probably it is my fault, but I don't even know, what is it. Therefor it is an easy skip for me. But now I am happy with the Anniversary Castle, and hope for the extra Viking Village. Question: is IP a boosting factor for sales, because the fans will buy it; or a limiting factor, because only the fans will buy it? perhaps, it is only about how to select the right IP...
  18. Wow, this is very cool. Really vibrant
  19. It would be so easy to solve this female knight "issue". Lego should produce 2-3 heads with one side male and other side female print. So it would be your choice to make a full male or full female or a mixed army. Not need to buy extra heads, just turn them to the other side
  20. Anyway, I'm thinking on this set since yesterday. And I feel this is just a big parts pack. The best castle ever, that is true, but much better would be possible. After 3 years, when the castle retires, the minifigs will cover the price of the set. Because I'm pretty much sure, they will not be available through the new B&P. The black falcons also disappeared. Still, I like the sophisticated angles and the play features of the set. But not sure to buy it or not on this price. If I buy, I will customize the castle to be more colorful.
  21. I just noticed the same And there are 5x dark green small pine trees!
  22. There were 3 different shields in the dining room. Are those printed or stickered?
