LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Agent Kallus replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
As far as I can recall there hasn't been a single Disney plus star wars show in the last 2-3 years that didn't get it's release date moved around even if only by a matter of days. At one point they announced BBS2 for May the fourth but then it was just Spring and then they delayed it to Autumn and then it didn't actually come out till the following January! And we never got any BBS2 sets so it's a bad point of comparison but if we had they'd have been messed around by the delays. -
Ideas for new Lego themes! (Non-licensed)
Agent Kallus replied to The lego fan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That's the problem with this discussion here. Space often gets lumped in with pirates, city and castle as they were the old evergreen themes. But they are nothing alike. Castle, pirates and city (/town whatever) are all based on real things, even the more fantastical elements are based on universal repeated ideas like witches, dwarves and dragons. Space is based on an idea, a dream of the future, there are specific ways that castles should look, there's no specific way a spaceship should look. Yes there are different rules that different people would want a spaceship design to follow, and there are even different archetypes you could follow ( would a Steampunk spaceship be considered a 'Space' set? Dieselpunk, Atompunk?) And that's the thing, I think Castle fans would mostly agree on what they want from a castle theme, say a new version of the 2010's Kingdoms with new (or old) heraldry, a few civilians (hopefully more than previously) maybe some outlaws ( good or evil) possibly some fantasy elements. Now every castle fan would agree that that was a castle theme, regardless of preferences on the small details, they (we) all want much the same thing. That is because a castle theme is much more unified idea than a space theme and, until we become a planet hopping spacefaring civilisation, it always will be and even then there will dreams of future different spaceships or whatever. Space fans aren't so united because it's a much nebulous idea, much harder to please everyone. Some say half the galaxy squad sets aren't 'space' sets because they're just giant bugs, or only yellow, grey and blue classic space is real 'space', open cockpit? Not a 'space' set, includes aliens? Not a true 'space' set! No aliens? No sale! Looks too modern! Looks too futuristic! Looks too retro! You get the idea! -

The corner of the roof will be a struggle. You will need a different build as the inverse of that slope isn't included in the set, I'm not even sure if they've ever produced it in the right colour. -

Don't worry, if they release that buildable sorting hat, it'll top the list every year for as long as it's available. -

I don't if I've ever bought a set day one before but I plan on going to the Lego shop tomorrow and getting some these September 1st releases ( maybe all bar Chewie) as well as some of the new marvel CMF. Hopefully by the time of the 'Space' Cmf ( which I still don't think is gonna be star wars but it's a possibility) we'll've perfected the art of knowing whose in a box to a fine art -

Aren't the codes just production dates? My local Lego shop used to sort some, I wonder if they'd weight these (probs no) -

Shouldn't Bruce Banner already be in the set? And that would be very undersized for a leviathan. I mean that does sound like a better GWP but I still don't think the car is actually bad. -

I thought you unlocked him by playing the final level of Return of the Jedi, where it's Vader and Luke V Palpatine? -

The gringotts gwp is quite nice isn't it. Really completes the set. So it's a bad GWP as it should just have been part of the set. You want something separate but still relavent and related. Random garbage is a bit of an overstatement, it's a car with an avenger, a civilian to rescue and some baddies to rescue him from, it complements the set without making it feel incomplete without it. I do think there is too much complaining here yes, but I only spoke out because the designers themselves were being blamed. I think it's unfair, I mean directly targeting a person when you can just blame the company or at very least the higher ups isn't right because you don't know the circumstances. And frankly I don't really see what could be much better. I mean yes it could have had better figs, but 4 is a high number for a licenced GwP. But at the size they generally are to have something that would actually go with the set ( rather than something at a different scale or totally unrelated to the Avengers Tower) a medium sized vehicle makes a lot of sense. I mean it's in a big city so cars would around and so it complements the model nicely. And any small structure would look off without a baseplate. Now maybe you do want something unrelated like a little brickbuilt arc reactor or something, but frankly I think most of us want something fig scaled that goes with the tower. I mean most of the small things that could go with the tower should be included anyway. A car makes sense to be with the tower, use could even have the hulk be throwing it, but the set would not be incomplete without it. So it's a pretty perfect GWP here. Everyone who doesn't get the Gringotts within the first month or so and gets it later on will have an understaffed bank with less vaults, obviously inferior, whereas without the car Avengers Tower is still complete. Is the figure selection perfect? No but would I want them to lock an exclusive character to GWP? No. -

I mean a gwp wasn't a given. So it nice one exists, but I'm glad they don't have exclusive characters or anything locked to the GWP. -

I think that's entirely unfair. Anyway I'd rather the GWP wasn't too desirable since then it should've just been a proper set. ( that said I think this might convince me to get the tower sooner rather than later) I mean 4 extra figs and decent looking looking relavent sidebuild, that we didn't know about added on as a free included extra, and we are still complaining? -

Do you know if BP is T'Challa or Shuri? (I'm guessing T'Challa but I'd rather Shuri as I already have 2 T'Challa Black Panthers) -

I mean she is the Co-lead like, like Fennec and Grogu in BoBF and Mando respectively, they all showed up alot in sets based on various shows, and of course we have Dave Filoni's New republic era movie coming soon as she will probably be in that, likely with a big enough role to be in at least one set. Though considering Sabine she would've likely repainted her Armour by then . We not counting the mircofighter? -

Oh dear, I did have that once with a Ninjago one missing his torso. I mean I think on the bright side, the head is the least essential part, especially as you can't see it with helmet on. -
Stormtrooper, got to be the imperial shock trooper too. Pilots, I like the Imperial V-wing one most.

Wishlist: Future Star Wars Sets and Minifigures
Agent Kallus replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Why do people always do this? It's not a prediction like he said, it doesn't matter where or when it suited for, it's just an idea of what he'd like to see for Summer 2024, like I've said in the Doctor Who thread, people don't need to temper thier desires to suit reality. Wishlists are not expectation lists, or prediction list and even if they are they are still wish, and those need not be bound by reality. -

I never know either ( until I see one) but yes they are out, they did have it alongside the old one (AT-TE minibuild) so maybe someday blueocean will see how much better the minifig ones sell, and switch to just minifigs ( like the Ninjago one already does!). -

Hopefully one of the X-Men included has a vaguely generic X-man outfit, so multiples can be used to Purist other X-Men, and then hopefully said X-man will appear in the magazine, I mean the marvel magazine is probably the worst in terms of interesting characters I want (JP one would be except I like lots of little dinos), it feels like every other issue I see is Venom, and I already have the Bugle and multiple of the one from the nick fury car set. (DC magazine is also quite repetitive but I'm more interested in different batsuits than any other superhero's outfits, also we can't really blame them cause there ain't material for them to pull from) -

I got 4 of the stormtrooper magazine in Tesco the other day ( they had 5 left but I'd have felt guilty taking them all ), so I can tell you they have this face, which is quite a good one to get... And it is the same one as the Mech. -

I do agree that B1 battle droids are too skeletal to work as minifig but I think the HKs are quite as slender so they could work as either, but I did know not everyone would agree with my preference there . -

Agent Kallus replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
As long as they get a new 'hat' piece for when they are unhooded I think all they need to do to is use the click hinge rather than the clip. But if the were to minifigify all those droids I think some of them would benefit from a sandwich board style part like Ned-B from Kenobi used, rather than just a head. But Magna guards, HKs ( as well as HK 47) and medical droids are all quite slender and would work perfectly well as just Minifigs.
