I had another go and although the engine section isn't working that well I thought the overall look wasn't too bad. IMG_0170 by Stephen O'Connor, on Flickr IMG_0165 by Stephen O'Connor, on Flickr IMG_0164 by Stephen O'Connor, on Flickr

Thanks all, nice to see this one still catches peoples attention :-) There is no LDD unfortunately but hopefully you can see how I did it on the flickr album. It would be great to see if anyone can improve on it too. I might have another go myself and try and get it a bit closer to the actual B-Wing design!

928 Galaxy Explorer alternate build (+ a 886 rover) - radio telescope base with lander. The lander came first while trying to do something bigger. I really liked the look of it and stopped working on it but had loads of bricks left so finally got the idea for a radio telescope. The first attempt was the one on the crater plate which is a bit haphazard. When I ran out of space and it got a bit flimsy I did the free standing plates between studs one. (I'll take some better photos of individual items at some point!). IMG_0131 by Stephen O'Connor, on Flickr IMG_0118 by Stephen O'Connor, on Flickr

[Classic Space/Futuron MOC] Fast Space Cruiser Andromeda

Nice ship, the interior details are great. Have you considered bringing the pilot onto the main bridge? Looks a bit isolated out front :-)- 6 replies

Very good, love the piston details.

Actually the WIP pics are what came before the pics in post 26. Sorry for the confusing order. Might try another spaceship before putting it away.

Thanks danth, much appreciated. It did turn out better than I was expecting :-) I was trying to come up with a space ship but the 918 is hard to beat and they just ended up being the 918 with the wings positioned slightly differently. Then I borrowed your wings as legs trick and started thinking about all the great mechs you see on eurobricks and played around with joint options. Obviously they are mostly weak connections but with a few more 1x4 and 1x2 plates I think they could be reinforced enough to be playable. I'm still sticking to the original parts count for the time being so they are proper alt. builds :-) Here are a couple of WIP pics - Classic Space LEGO 918 alternate builds by Stephen O'Connor, on Flickr Classic Space LEGO 918 alternate builds by Stephen O'Connor, on Flickr

Yeah.... it's all awesome! :-D -
Very impressive ship!

That's a really neat and compact Starfighter, good job!

Nice job!

Nicely detailed base danth. It looks like the robot is attending a drilling rig. I've pinched your wings as legs technique for my next build ;-)
-
Nice job! An enclosed cockpit and I really like what you did with those two black shell pieces. I couldn't work out how to make good use of them on my alt. build.

Here's another 6929 alt. build. Nothing that special about it but it can seat two crew members in the cockpit. Standard cargo box again. Classic Space LEGO 6929 Starfleet Voyager alternate build by Stephen O'Connor, on Flickr

Nice ship but swap the green to blue for a classic space look ;-)
-
My initial impression was that it was a bland looking fighter, but after finding out it's a drop ship and seeing it from a slightly different angle I really like it :-)
-
Love that hanger, inspiring work.

Thanks again danth, the first one was actually the last one I came up with and I am pretty pleased with it :-) I've been playing around with my 6929 Starfleet Voyager this time. I was trying to do something clever with a much larger cargo container but ended up with a Darth Maul Sith Infiltrator looking ship with the option of a standard cargo container in a lightweight mounting. I gave it a retracting front landing pad instead of a droop nose too. I used the left over pieces to make some engineering/maintenance equipment :-) Classic Space LEGO 6929 Starfleet Voyager alternate build by Stephen O'Connor, on Flickr Classic Space LEGO 6929 Starfleet Voyager alternate build by Stephen O'Connor, on Flickr

Fantastic job Sunder. Great work on all the details, especially the drill bits.

Brilliant! Hats off to anyone who can make transforming LEGO creations.
