  1. Back during Nexo Knights I did collect such books as well, €6 might be steep but they were fun to read. Also got many of the real books, some with figures, also nice read, so yes, I suppose I was a collector Also still collect Magazines of certain LEGO themes (currently just City) In the end, to each their own way to enjoying/collecting LEGO.
  2. Love how the "Pirate" from the 3-in-1 tree house treasure set is part of the "too small" crew
  3. There was an upcoming Toy Fair in China in 2 weeks, but that's now postponed: Originally scheduled to be held from 6 – 8 March 2020 in Shenzhen, the three fairs will now take place at a future date which will be announced in due course. The postponement follows a recent notice by the Guangdong Province Department of Commerce to suspend all large-scale events due to the Novel Coronavirus outbreak. https://shenzhen-international-toy-and-education-fair.hk.messefrankfurt.com/shenzhen/en.html
  4. Well, there might be reasons like the Coronavirus playing a role as well , which already canceled part of the Toy Fair event. https://www.toynews-online.biz/2020/02/05/new-york-toy-fair-cancels-china-pavilion-over-novel-coronavirus-fears/ Also many factories are shut down in China, not sure if LEGO is affected, but much of the country certainly isn't "business as usual" right now. Don't want to go into Politics too much but this is how I see it. I can see there's a China Toy Expo but that's in October. Shenzhen International Toy & Education Fair was planned for 6-8 March but shows as "Postponed" Originally scheduled to be held from 6 – 8 March 2020 in Shenzhen, the three fairs will now take place at a future date which will be announced in due course. The postponement follows a recent notice by the Guangdong Province Department of Commerce to suspend all large-scale events due to the Novel Coronavirus outbreak. https://shenzhen-international-toy-and-education-fair.hk.messefrankfurt.com/shenzhen/en.html But I think this already existing topic is a better place for more focused dicussion :
  5. A Venom T-Rex but no Spider-Man actual Lizard villain ever yet
  6. I certainly don't think it's an amazing way either compared to an actual wave of sets, but for some reason we just don't get Castle or Pirates via regular means. Also, sure BAM or CMF providing some Castle/Pirate/Space figures is nice I guess but I'd rather see regular retail sets instead of workarounds and ultimately more expensive figures. Even putting Castles (Ice Samurai being the latest one) in via Ninjago or Hidden Side isn't very elegant to get anything CLASSIC, so I'll wait and see how those sets look (Castle of Mystery / Skull Dungeon)
  7. I also think 3-in-1 is the best way to bring us CLASSIC sets without a full theme, but still provide 3 sets in a certain theme/color scheme. I wonder how that Summer 2020 3-in-1 Space Rover type set is going to turn out, can't find a description, beside a €50 price. Personally hope it's more like a Sci-Fi take on things, as LEGO still has the City Space Rover on shelves, which already looked like the 2017 3-in-1 Space shuttle Alternate build. Something based on sets like those would be nice to see as a Creator 3-in-1 "Rover" 3-in-1 has done Sci-Fi in the past smaller sets (or references to it like the UFO/rockets in the Fairground ride), so scaling things up to a €50 set for 2-3 minifigs could be nice (and more Rover instead of Mech of course)
  8. 2019 Space I can understand LEGO MOVIE 2 taking that slot for that year but those few metalbeard sets certainly wasn't a replacement for Pirates. But Castle and Pirates haven't had much since Elves and Nexo Knights ended: Some figures/parts via(CMF/BAM ) Creator 3-in-1 Rollercoaster/Tree House sets in 2018 instead of actual dedicated sets. 60th anniversary sets having some Pirates/Castle parts/accesoires and microscale builds. Friends Heart Box/Magazine gift having a pirate hat, and a somewhat Pirate themed fairground ride as well. Still nothing like an actual theme/wave of sets. The last Pirates wave was 2015, and 2016 Sky Pirates (Ninjago Skybound). The last Castle wave could be debated between either 2013, or 2016-2018. At least 2020 has something to look forward to but nothing points to a long-term presence of both Castle or Pirates yet.
  9. Thursday 14 feb ahead of the 2019 NYTF.
  10. No transparent "glass" used for the airplane side windows
  11. IP 2 codename still used for Minions at Toy Fair
  12. CMF Drone certainly looks nicely sized for a civilian quadcopter, good use of those propeller pieces. Most drones have been really large in City , and the Drone trend isn't stopping yet, next City Magazine has this , a bit better sized then some previous examples at least :
  13. I agree a full circle would have gotten me way more interest in the set compared to just a loose end. Toy Story had this and that was a €20 set : This Hidden Side set is €50.
  14. Some interesting variants/prints/colors for sure but nothing really must-have for me.
  15. That's a cool find for sure. Found a website with various LEGO related things seen in movies/series : The Firm isn't listed on there either so there must be a lot more not directly known/listed. https://bricks.inmovi.es/ It even has a link on the bottom that links back to Eurobricks but doesn't work anymore
  16. This is nice for sure, really like the potential of the DOTS theme of mosaic tiles. I agree LEGO is very versatile, there have been Pencil Pots, Magnets, Photo Frames, Date Blocks, Chess sets, Boardgames like Ludo in the past, LEGO minifig. Keychains have been around for decades as well, I remember having an M-tron one long long ago and that theme was during the early 90s. But DOTS takes it to a whole new level with all those 1x1 mosaics being more easily available. I have worked with mosaic in the past but that was just glass and glue, LEGO just makes it easier to change later
  17. Even Chinese New year sets release worldwide now since Dragon Boat Race last year. 14-18 sets being regional would be weird, and they already showed up on for example a spanish website. It's not like this 400 year story is unknown, maybe the originals are talked about less, but adaptations like Dragonball, and many other games had some type of Monkey King character, reference or skin pack in them.
  18. I hope any AR used on Monkey Kid would be more alike with Nexo Knights and not to Hidden Side. Beside the Hidden Side app not working on even newer phones, I don't think the colored bits add much to the actual LEGO sets. But I also really like those Nexo Knight Shield inserts without the app's use, added another dimension to customization with the different colors and prints and types of shield holders. Nexo Shield tiles also still fit on more generic recent shields like this , but other sizes of tiles also would work great on such shields:
  19. I grew up with those listed Classic themes, while my family didn't have a whole lot of sets of each theme back then, it did make mixing and matching LEGO parts and figures very interesting, the slogan "Just Imagine..." was just perfect. Also as my family collected LEGO for a longer period, I got to experience the evolution of figures, from Homemaker & 1974 static minifigures , to the 1978 original smiley face and 1989 Pirates onward. Rest In Peace
  20. Kung Fu Battle structure sure looks nice. Also looks like a new mould for those arms, with actual rotating hands. Similar arms were first introduced with Nexo Knights in 2017 (and maybe more known via TLM2 Ice Cream Cone) but had no rotating hands. Otherwise, personally not very interested in the actual Minions side of things.
  21. Looks like this wheel : https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?id=64889#T=C&C=85
  22. I agree this is the best time/place to reveal it. Nexo was announced in October due to being a January launch theme, and this looks like it'll follow the similar 2nd half year launch like Hidden Side.
  23. Hidden Side was at Toy Fair but wasn't a 14-18 set launch theme like Nexo (17 sets at launch ) / Chima (16 sets at launch) Leaf / Monkey Kid seems to have at least 14 sets, possible 18 (likely store exclusives)
  24. Well they just announced a September Star Wars set, so hopefully this theme will get announced as well.
  25. €140 at NL LEGO.com, as usual Star Wars is more expensive here.
