  1. Ha! i think i was in shock... sorry. Its just.... why is a B model such an issue. Unshackle the imagination and use this amazing toy as its intended... I think i'll have a cup of tea. Blood pressure is dropping now!!!
  2. Eh?! Says more about the end user to be honest. A lego set is a starting point, an idea.. you, the end user is then supposed to use that to build your own things! Thats the whole point of lego!! If you want a predetermined, unalterable, fixed solution then buy a jigsaw, or a tamiya kit. Lego isn't about presenting you with the ultimate, no improvement possible, set. Its about giving us a toolbox of pieces. Is this a symptom of the 'display model only' culture? i don't get it, lego comes to pieces and is modular so that we can then build that amazing C model, D, E F.......Z model, and unique models of our own. Not sit gathering dust. Whats become of the end users, thats my question!!!!! (not all users of course, i know many, many moc like the fury and view sets as a base/starting point.. and god bless for that!!)
  3. good view of the bearings between the ring gears...
  4. B models don't bother me at all... Don't think i've ever built one 37 years!! I buy based on the A model (and the parts included). I only ever build them once as for me Lego is about inspiration from genuine sets, and then building my own stuff.. always has been. New sets stay built for 3 or 4 days usually, then taken to pieces and cannibalised for that 'new part'. So B models?! Zero interest.. they're just a parts-limited moc. Can't wait to get this set as it looks proper 'technic', just the pleasure of opening a big box full of new, shiny lego. Feels like it did in 1980 when i got 851. That was far from perfect but no-one moaned, we just improved it... then again, there were no forums to moan on then!!!
  5. Just done exactly the same thing!
  6. that is a great shot, they've done well recreating it
  7. That sounds like a pretty good source! Loved 42082 anyway, thats just a cherry on top for me!!
  8. Thats brilliant! Is it a reliable source? The new 20 clutch gear would be useful too....
  9. Nope... but its much bigger, with a real engine that burns petrol. The lego one doesn't do that either, but its a model made of plastic bricks.. so all things considered inserting it behind the wheel isn't exactly a deal breaker is it?!!
  10. Mmmm.. live build is... under whelming. Probably because building is something you do, not watch. Nothing against the @Sariel at all, its just the concept of watching a build. Vicarious lego? Doesn't work for me.
  11. thats rull rrp though.. it will be available for less very quickly. A lot less in 6 months or so.
  12. i don't.. i think they'll sell bucket loads. And i hope they do.
  13. Be interesting to see the margin.. though thats unlikely! Sales numbers don't tell the full story... if you sell 47 million but only break even on them, no point. Sell 10,000 but make £50 per unit... happy days. More cash for less work. Turnover is vanity, profit is reality. I'd also love a 3k piece fork lift or big flagship tractor, but i understand the econonics. If lego make profit from cars, then they need to keep releasing them.... and that 3k piece tractor? well that why lego comes to pieces, so you can build the sets you want.. thats the point, its a moc tool!!!!
  14. Ha ha! posted the video right here... first post as well. Genius. (thats sarcasm by the way....) +1
  15. He already has. Was 24hrs too long to wait.... TLG provide us with this great thing, (at great cost in R&D, marketing etc) and some people seem happy to s**t on their wishes. Its sad. ps Sorry for language..
  16. so where does the gearbox sit.. under the engine? Seems that would be too high.. its a big lump of an engine. I'm not a supercar nut, but this looks a great effort by TLG. Looks good and has plenty going on inside.. 8(?) speed gearbox, AWD, new gearbox pieces. All in all, they've done good.
  17. I think you're right... in a real gearbox, the 'Clutch gears' are called Dogs and Collars - Dogs being the protruding, male, element that locates into the collars. At least in motorbike sequential gearboxes they are... the selector fork locates in a groove in a similar way and some sprockets can spin freely, some are on splines and the sliding and engaging of the dogs selects the gear But unless dogs and collars are adopted, Slip Gear, or (not much) Friction Gear seems best.
  18. You've clearly not read 1984!! (its a great book, you should...) There's a difference between perpetual surveillance (1984) and catching an illegally leaked code(sky).. Very odd.. you can't trust software! (and i should know, i write it!!)
  19. Fair enough, they did a very good job - and as mentioned i fully support the ban on here. They're a big operation with thousands of people in the chain. Only takes one to leak.... they should include a unique code on all boxes etc so that pics can be traced. Thats what SKY do to stop hacked sky boxes, they all display a code which is fully traceable. because i believe TLG don't want this forum to show them. If that's the case, then that's reason enough, surely? IP is everything, and sharing theirs against their will isn't on... i'm a software developer, and if you stole/shared my IP against my wishes, i'd set the dogs on you!
  20. you should! I know what the box is, and i've often bought it myself.. then after a couple of days looking at the box my wife wraps it up and i'm not allowed to touch it until xmas day!!!
  21. I always get my lego for xmas, so there's a solid 5 months for the discounts to arrive... admittedly, it takes some self resolve to wait each year!! But its worth it.. xmas day = big box of lego wrapped up under he tree! Can't wait until this xmas, it will be 42082 waiting for me this year...
  22. Mine too. Good to see some new stuff in the car, but cars are a bit over-done for me... hoping this mighty crane has some new bits inside too. This screams technic for me. Can't wait to get it. If the blue one drops in price in a year or so, might get it... but probably not, i only want the gearbox parts
  23. I fully support the banning of leaked stuff on this forum, as has been mentioned, its for respect to TLG. On a wider scale, the leaked images are great marketing for the model. The restricted information, the people desperate to see it... it creates a self perpetuating feeding frenzy. Which is awesome for the brand. Its like new restaurants that say they're full when they're not just to make people desperate to get a booking.... people want what they can't have. If i were TLG, i'd be leaking images through trusted 3rd parties to build this buzz... and who's to say they haven't?!!
