  1. While there might be ways to do it (for example adding an invisible 2DConnectorField at the bottom of the part) this might interfere with other parts or have other unwanted side-effects. I used it with grouping to the oxygen tank (and delete the tank afterwards).
  2. Some of the parts are official Lego ones and also have no (or minimal) collision data. I personally find collisions useful and try to add them. But also sometimes even Lego's official parts have wrong collisions, preventing builds that are possible in real.
  3. Did you try Mecabricks ? Import into from LDD ? Then export from Mecabricks as Blender Add-On format. Then import into Blender using the (free) Mecabicks importer? This picture was done using the above method (LDD -> Meca -> Blender):
  4. I made some minor fix regarding collisions of 35044 https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sttng/LDD-New-Parts/main/Primitives/35044.xml
  5. If you are using Blurender0006 in the subfolder "./bublible/sc" there are 2 files: bublible_materials.sc bublible_special.sc These can be edited with a text editor (make a backup 1st !!!) You could try to modify materials there and maybe there is a setting for emissive materials ?
  6. I personally wouldn’t use custom parts (meaning parts that doesn’t exist in real). But even Lego uses custom non-existing parts in their digital games. For example a Bantha.
  7. I tried it and I think it has potential, but currently I don’t find it particularly useful. i think a function where it tells you the part Id of a scanned part would be great.
  8. Honestly using custom parts is kind of an advanced topic. You need to located your LDD library file which is in a directory traditionally hidden to users usually, you need to extract that library, copy files into the respective sub folders, etc. I did 2 video tutorials (no sound) to show it, but yeah it can be confusing if you are not so computer-wise.
  9. Stud.Io doesn’t work with the new, user-created parts. I was thinking to upgrade my RenderMan based script to output POVRay files, but I found the POVRay format description confusing and ultimately didn’t bother. Sad that it seems the original creator disappeared
  10. Could be a fixed list of parts internally. Could be it can’t read the lif file for any reason. Not sure really without reverse engineering or source code.
  11. Unfortunately LDD to Povray hadn’t been updated for ages and I don’t think it’ll work with the new parts (I think it reads from the LIF file and not from the extracted folders). You may try to repack the LIF file with a tool called LIFCreator: alternatively you can try https://github.com/sttng/LegoToR It converts LDD files to Pixar RenderMan files. It’s open source and written in python. Should work under Linux as well.
  12. I think non of the current tools works really well on tablets. Mecabricks (being Browser based) might be your best shot.
  13. This is better then I thought it would be. Great job !
  14. This is not a parts issue, but and issue with LDD instructions generation function relying on the db.lif file as far as my analysis goes. So instruction generation doesn’t work once you extract db.lif even if you don’t add any new parts.
  15. Good to have you back ! Nice to see more ppl working on parts !
  16. OBJ is more then 30 years old, but FBX is younger then 30 years ;) Anyway I wrote a tool that converts LDD LXF files into USD GitHub - sttng/LegoToR: A LEGO Digital Designer to RenderMan and USD converter. If you have a thorough understanding of LDraws file format this might help you as a starting point. I think also maybe the Blender LDraw importer might help. Does Blender already support USD import ?
  17. LEGOs own Unity Microgame comes with a parts Library which is already in FBX format. Might be quicker then to batch convert from scratch.
  18. It might be more a "digital only" part maybe or a part which they have in the pipeline but not released yet or a cut character as you say. An example of a digital only part is the Bantha of which no physical version exists as of today - at least not officially released from LEGO.
  19. Good question. It was part of the Lego Unity pack - so its official from Lego. But on the other hand I can't seem to find a set or real version of it.
  20. Because the subfiles are too big I give this a try ! Thanks
  21. Great render. Love the blue glow !
