Custom LDD bricks and fixes
BrokenEye replied to Equilibrium's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Just to make sure there's no confusion, the hover text isn't an intended part of the screenshot. The corrupted brick still shows the correct name. -

Looks like in the photos it takes on a much darker red when there's something behind it, which would certainly appear to confirm my suspicions. -

Alright, I've done two versions, because it kinda looks like the third color might actually be a transparent patch showing the red of the piece itself, but I'm not entirely sure that it is. -

Hmm... I think I better start looking for a clearer reference photo. I can kinda see the third color in the one I'm using, but I can't make out where its edges are at all. Adding room shouldn't take more than a minute, though. -

Hey, I finally got around to starting to remake one of the Nexo Knights shield decals with what I hope are the correct dimensions. If this one works correctly, I'll get started on the other ones. -

I've been meaning to ask, what is a drum coating? Is that a special material that's only used in certain parts? -

So I take it the 1x1 square plates are all the new colors that don't fit into any of the other aforementioned categories? By the way, there are a couple of unshaded white square plates with color names like "??Material367???" Are those placeholders for colors yet to come, or is that a bug? -

Alright, these look awesome. Thanks. Hey, what do the different shapes indicate? -

How do I access the non-standard palette? I'm not sure I understand how Trans Black and Trans Brown can be the same, but I'll accept it. -

Hey, is there any chance at getting the trans-black color available in a future updates? I've got a few grayscale builds in the works that could really benefit by having more than one transparent color to choose from. Chrome black would also be useful. -

While you're waiting on that, I've done some experimenting of my own to figure out which types of brick bottoms have legal connections to minifig legs and assembled an incomplete list of bricks that fit the description from the first six folders. I'll try to tackle another six later on, though considering what types of bricks are in the next six, I expect there'll be a lot fewer. Can someone please check 6037? I'm pretty sure it's not legal, but I don't have any octagonal columns in meatspace so I can't be sure. -

Oh yeah, this one was definitely meant to fit with the legs. There's little trenches up the sides to accommodate the pegs and everything. Thanks. -

Works perfectly, but judging by the clipping, I seem to have been mistaken in my conclusion that they were meant to fit together. Still, let's try the other one anyway, just in case. -

Hey guys, I noticed what I think is a bug. Minifigure legs don't fit into parts 26050 and 21968, even though the bottoms of these parts appear to have been designed so that minifigure legs would fit. I imagine this is probably related to how minifigure legs don't fit into full height bricks either, even though they do in real life (with only a handful of exceptions) and have been very occasionally used that way in official sets (as with this figure). I don't know how this works under the hood, but I imagine this could be easily patched by replicating the sort of connector that's on the bottom of minifigure torsos, which accepts both ordinary studs and minifigure leg... uh... top peg things (is there a term for those?). -

Is there any way for a person who doesn't work at LEGO to get access to that program? Because that would rock. -

This feels like a little to much code digging for my tastes. I think I'll just live without. -

Doesn't seem to have worked for me. There's only one new part, and it seems to be corrupt. It's the one on the left. The label says "MINI HAND" but it doesn't seem to have a model. There's also no torso and no arms to go with it. -

Ooh, can I use the same process to add armless torsos? Or normal torsos missing one or both hands? -

So LEGO, the company that publishes LDD, wants it updated badly enough to install a third party mod, but not badly enough to, y'know, release an update? -

Hey, is there any way to make it so Part 6158 Smoke Helmet Protection (aka Fire Helmet Breathing Hose) can be applied directly to a minifigure head instead of only ever connecting with the oxygen tank neck accessory? That's been a thorn in my side for a while now. A very small, slightly blunted thorn, but a thorn nonetheless.
