awesome ... having these scans each month will be very useful indeed :)

if there are some UK folks that live very near to the Brand Stores, do you think you could go regularly and then post the pictures of the store calendars like folks do for the US versions? This would be very handy ...
-
to be fair to Lego, they never said they would premiere it at this event ... we just assumed they would and now you're getting annoyed cos it never happened. You should direct your anger at yourself for raising your own expectations ;) The news will come out when it's good and ready ...

Here's the auction, for reference :)

I thought I posted this already but maybe not!? I sent an e-mail to Lego Customer Services after news first broke, asking if this would come to Europe and they said yes, but they were not sure of the release date just yet.

Chrome C3PO is the same ... I suspect it's because it's chromed as a built figure rather than the individuals parts being chromed and then joined together ... most likely because of cost and production simplicity.
-
they're both hardbacks ... the RRPs are the right way around, i.e. the library version, minus the figure, is cheaper. However, for some reason, Amazon is discounting the library edition by only 9% compared to the 30% discount on the normal edition ... and that means the normal one is cheaper, at the moment, than the library version. Not that it matters anyway, why would any Lego fan choose to buy the book WITHOUT the exclusive figure?!?!?!

spellt is not in the English dictionary ... Spelt is the correct spelling :P http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/spelt%5B2%5D

UK Chrome Vader @TRU ! + set update
Big Pete replied to The Rancor's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
i think it was the "cheapest" way to get a chrome DV ... I just have to keep hold of the other sets I bought for a while and then sell them on :) -

Big Pete replied to The Rancor's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
so buy what you want in two separate lots ;) I bought a spider droid and a stormie BP in one transaction and got 1 chrome DV and then went back and bought 4 more stormie BPs in another transaction and got another chome DV :D -
UK Chrome Vader @TRU ! + set update

btw folks, it has to be £29.99 of Star Wars Lego ... it can't just be any Lego sets. -
look at his username! anyways, I am not an American but I also have a Brickmaster subscription. I have a mate who I went to school with who now lives in the US and he gets it for me and posts it on. Yes, this means I have to pay around £8 to £10 each time he posts me an issue (since it comes in a cardboard) box but it does mean that I get the exclusive sets without having to pay over the odds *and* have extreme shipping costs from the US. As for whether it's worth it ... sure, I think so ... I made my money back on the subscription costs by selling the free Legoland ticket via Ebay USA :D That said, the actual magazine is a bit crap, imho, but then it's not aimed at adults!

Lego Star Wars 10th anniversary exclusive on May 3 and 4
Big Pete replied to Commander Assassin's topic in LEGO Star Wars
given that you have to set your region to the USA to see the ads for this deal on S@H then I'd say it's US only, yes .... -
You really think most of us care that you're gonna lose out if these become more widely available?! The only reason you have no many is to make profits out of folks that can't them otherwise. I bet you didn't pay massively for them and if you did, then it's your own fault, because we all knew the large numbers of these things and the fact that they'd be more widely available eventually. i think it's great that the bricklink price has dropped from $120 when they first appeared to around $20 now. I fully expect it to drop lower as more and more become available. In years to come, the price might go up, who knows. As I said, if you lose out then I'll be happy ... I'm not a great fan of profiteering en masse!!

TRU Southampton had quite a few of this set today, as well as the new garage and sports car sets. :)
-
I had it confirmed with a reply to a letter I sent to the Lego CEO complaining about the glut of USA exclusives, that the UK will be getting some Chrome Vaders later this year. They will NOT be randomly placed in sets, as that's not allowed here, but the exact distribution method is undecided / unpublished. So, the advice is to watch the website for info. that's about it for now ...

Master eBay Auctions thread - post noteworthy auctions here
Big Pete replied to interstellar's topic in LEGO Pirates
fair enough ... i'd seen such threads in the Pirate forum (which I frequent once in a blue moon) ... I thought in there, there was 1 thread that was updated periodically, rather than a new thread every other day. Isn't that a better solution ? Can't fault the effort and reasoning for doing it though ... fair play to ya. -
Master eBay Auctions thread - post noteworthy auctions here
Big Pete replied to interstellar's topic in LEGO Pirates
Can I just ask, what is the point of these threads? Are people not capable of searching on ebay themselves? -
If you can find out the approx weight of the parcel (Amazon usually list set weights) then you can estimate the postage from UK to Germany on this site :) Not that I'm volunteering to help you mind you ... I don't know you from Adam, as they say :)

I'm not planning on it ... I'm not a great fan of Pod Racers in reality.

the heads were inspired by that model, but they are my own design and build ... :)

KimT to the rescue :D

This MOC (only my second MOC of any great note!) was created for the FBTB 2009 Podracer Challenge. I've called it the "Dino-Pod", for obvious reasons. I like to think it would chew up the track at great speed, whilst looking like it might chew up it's opposition on the way. Plus, if the teeth don't get you, the swinging tail just might ... comments welcome! Further pictures here This is actually version 2 of the MOC, as I wasn't happy with a couple of bits. I made a change to the front of the engines, because what I really wanted was the mouth to be open and more menacing ... I think I achieved that quite well : I also really needed to do an update to the back on the engines. I must admit, in the first iteration, they were a bit rushed and I wasn't happy with them. So, here's the new version ... again, I think an improvement : Here's a deeplinked photo of the tail ... it's entirely moveable, so can swipe a few opposition Pods out of the way in the race! :D I'm quite pleased with it in the end. It's inspired me to create other things in the future, but I really need more parts and also more room to tinker! Oh well ... need a Lego room really and that means I need a bigger house! hehe ... COME ON A FURTHER HOUSING PRICE CRASH!! ;)
