I too found it a real struggle. I wonder if the UK codes are slightly different, since the number that's printed on them all is different on the ones I got. I had a real struggle finding the Elf. Mind you, out of my box, I only opened 19 to find the full set of 16. I've got two opened Sumo Wrestlers and a Space Villain going spare!

Fresh from the report on Brickset that Argos has the Series 3 minifigures, I popped into my local store on the way to work and I bought a whole box. It took a while for them to find it, because it hadn't been put out for purchase. I managed to agree with them that I could buy the whole box, to then sort through to get a whole set and return the rest* They were still priced at £1.99 each, although I note that the Series 2 minifig item number has a price of £2.03, so be prepared for a slight price rise due to VAT. Tonights task is to sort through the box and learn how to read these little dots. I think they're going to be virtually impossible to do in store unless you have a lot of time on your hands. I have a theory that might help, but I need to test it first. * i.e. the rest, minus duplicates of all the coolest figs ;)

Nice Review. I got this set in one of the 3 for 2 deals before Christmas, to bulk out a Star Wars order and I'm really pleased with it. I didn't bother with either of the alternative builds, sticking with the main build. It's a really pleasing model and looks great on display. I build a stand for it, so it's on display is a sort of 3/4 view, which really shows off it's best angle.

S@H has 30% off 10215 Obi Wan's Jedi Starfighter as of today ... taking the price down to £66.49. I still don't want it!
-
194 miles to be precise! But as to why, your guess is as good as mine!?
-
Good News! Not only have they found my order - it went to Nottingham as opposed to Southsea, near Portsmouth - (WTF?! Bit of an error there!!) - but they've also found the sets I ordered at the Southampton store, so they've been sent to the Southsea store as well as my order. So, I'll still get my sets. What a palava though!

I'm more gutted right now ... I ordered online and asked for it to be sent to my local store. They said they scanned it in, but have managed to lose it somewhere in the store!!! So that was a wasted trip. I hope they find it eventually or find stock in another store nationally. Failing that I'll be asking them to order 2 from Lego direct!
-
Thanks for the tip ... 2 ordered! They also have 50% off all of the Prince Of Persia sets, although the Battle Of Alamut set is Out Of Stock. Amazon have 25% off various sets at moment, including the Hogwarts Express set

Tesco Direct are having 3 for 2 on all toys until Sunday 12th December. Sadly, it seems the little reductions on sets have gone whilst this deal is in operation, but you can’t have everything. Save on delivery by having them sent to your local store for free. Mind you, spend over £50 and you get free delivery anyway! Stock also seems to be a bit of an issue too. *Update* This deal is in-store too. I went to a couple of local places and they still didn't have the sets I wanted (Hagrids Hut, Creator Fire Rescue) but I did pick up 3 of these : RRP = £12.97 Sale Price = £6.47 (50% off anyway) So buying 3 in the 3 for 2 deal, it was £12.94 for the lot. That's just over 1.3p per brick (325 bricks per box) Not a bad deal :D

According to this link, 8086 Droid Tri-Fighter is reduced to £11.25 at Asda at the moment. No idea if this is in-store, but it looks like it's in stock online anyway. That's a 55% saving on the RRP!!

Argos Lego Sale Argos has savings on various Lego sets, up to 50% off. Some of the bigger savings are on their online only sets and are subject to stock issues.

8099 Midi Imperial Star Destroyer is finally reduced at Tesco's ... £10 off making it £24.99. Link

This is my first foray into the world of CubeDudes and I have to say I found it quite challenging and rewarding to try and get the right level of detail into these models. Hopefully I did a good job. This vignette represents the medal ceremony scene at the end of Episode IV : A New Hope and is an entry into the FBTB contest. Photo is a link to the rest of the Flickr photostream showing more angles and close up of the CubeDubes. Comments welcome :)

Boots.com have started their 3 for 2 deal. They have some of the new SW sets (Slave 1, General Grievous Starfighter and Plo Kloon's Jedi Starfighter) and a couple of the new Creator sets. Let's hope they stock the rest of the SW sets soon.

since the Brand Stores and the shop at Legoland Windsor are not part of the same chain, I would say no ...

Name: Garbage Truck Getaway (7599) Theme: Toy Story 3 Year: 2010 Pieces: 402 Minifigs: 4 Price: £49.99 (RRP) ... although I paid £29.99 in a Toys R Us sale First up, the box art from the front and the back ... Front Back There are some really nice minifigures including in this set, including the exclusive Twitch figure. The other figures, Lotso, Jessie and Buzz all have "garbage stains" on them, so show that they've been in the bin etc! Lotso ... I like how he even has the tag on his bottom, as most bears do! Jessie Buzz Lightyear Twitch ... those tiny antennae are gonna easily get lost if you're not careful. The wings are cool too, in a sort of bendy, semi transparent plastic So, now onto the build ... first up, here's what you get in the box. Yay, no DSS!! First up, you build the garbage container ... it's a box ... with handles ... nothing exciting, although the little wheels on the bottom are a nice realistic touch And then you start to build the truck ... first the base ... and then the cab ... I really like the look of the truck ... it's an interesting scale and allows for nice detail, whilst not being too fiddly in the design. I really like the fact that you get a nice printed tile for the registration plate. I wish the Star Wars sets still came with printed plates ... but that's another story! You can even lift the windscreen easily, presumably to get figs in and out easily Next up, you start the build of the rest of the truck ... Mid build ... Nearly there ... And here's the final model ... looks rather snazzy eh? I really like the final model ... I especially like the mechanism which actually replicates the action of emptying the garbage container into the garbage truck. It works just like you'd imagine and adds great play value. You can see it in action by clicking here and here. Oh and just because I can, here's a pic of my Toy Story collection ... There's some really nice figs in this line ... For bigger pictures, click here for the Flickr photo set The Ratings : Playability/Swooshability : 8/10 (it has great playability, due to the mechanism and opening cab) Design : 8/10 (very accurate from the film version, from what I remember ... a nice scale too) Price : 2/10 (if you buy at RRP ... FAR too expensive) or 7/10 (if you get it in a sale, like I did!) Overall : 8/10 (probably my favourite of the Toy Story 3 line)

Hamleys in London had 5 almost full boxes dotted around their Lego section ... not a surprise really since they were charging £3 each!

Next set of decent sales are most likely to be in September when Boots start their 3 for 2 on Toys. There *may* be some sales in the summer at places like Tesco, but they're not easy to predict it seems
