Big Pete replied to Big Pete's topic in Special LEGO Themes
If anyone wants a complete set of the 6 Lego sets, then let me know, as I have some spares for trade / sale. -
Did anyone else think this thread was going to be about these, when first reading the subject title?

Stickers - Replacements Availability
Big Pete replied to Big Pete's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This is not a debate on printed vs stickers ... we've done that to death and clearly, printed parts are going to be less than stickers. That is fact. What I wanted to understand was how we could make the best of stickers including how to get replacements for older sets without having to pay extortionate amounts. I'm not sure I want the ability to print my own, I want proper stickers. Maybe Lego could have a JIT (just in time) method of delivery, but that would depend on a) whether they do their own printing b) the cost of printing one set of stickers ... as that would define the cost passed on to the customer. -
I understand that stickers are here to stay ... I've made my peace with that, even though I would prefer more printed parts. However, if we have to live with stickers, I believe TLG could improve their customer support for these. Whilst it is possible to get replacement stickers for sets currently in production via their Customer Services, it seems impossible to get stickers for older sets. Again, this is understandable, but stickers don't last forever and with no other option, customers are forced to resort to the extortionate prices on the aftermarket. Take the sticker sheets for the original RGS (7163) for example ... Bricklink has some, but the lowest price is $40 and the highest $135!!! I would gladly pay TLG a modest fee for these. Would it be possible for TLG to keep producing small stock levels of stickers from their sets which they could then sell for a reasonable price from their website ? Do Lego make the stickers themselves or do they contract it out to a 3rd party ? Do Lego keep the printing masters for old sets ? (if they do, then that would mean the start up costs for this service are relatively small, only having to pay for a run of stickers) Also, can anyone confirm that they changed how they make stickers after 2006 ? Stickers on sets prior to this time (7163, 6207 for examples) seem to be much more prone to fracturing and peeling. I would dearly like to understand if this idea is a runner or not, thanks for your time.

any news on when these points will be awarded for S@H purchases ?

Asda has the new Star Wars Battlepacks @ £7.97. Oh and they have the Toy Story Army Men set for £7.47. bargains.

you paid £101 for this ? wow ... I paid £25 for this from ebay back in Jan 08, in box. I *think* the parts weren't sealed in bag, but that's still quite a difference! Nice review though. This model sits proudly on the shelf with the only other 2 UCS sets I have (AT-ST & Grievous).

[MOC] 8036 Alternative Model - Separatist DCA-PT
Big Pete replied to Big Pete's topic in LEGO Star Wars
No it's not ... but the rules of the contest that this is for allowed for the addition of 1 windscreen / cockpit of your choice. well, I remade the original set, which is now back on display ... there weren't that many parts left to be honest. I agree ... I don't own the new landspeeder set, yet, so wasn't an option ;-) -

for sets like that you will need to go to one of the Lego Brand Stores in Brighton, Milton Keynes or Bluewater ... and even then, you're reliant on stock levels in those stores, so best to phone ahead before making a special trip.

The new figs are just fine and dandy if you ask me ... it seems there's no pleasing some people :P Oh and btw, this option "I could care less" ... makes NO SENSE! The phrase is "I couldn't care less" ...

Looking for LEGO exclusive sets in London
Big Pete replied to Matija Grguric's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Hamleys doesn't stock anything you can't get in TRU. Harrods probs the same. Both shops however have a large markup on prices. Travelling from London to Brighton, Bluewater or Milton Keynes to go to the Lego Brand Stores is the only way to get the exclusives. You should check stock levels first before making the trip. Phone numbers are on Lego's website. -
i.e. this figure : Preferably with the purple lightsabre and chrome hilt, but that's not an absolutely necessary. Anyone selling ? I am in the UK and have completed a few trades here before.
-
the UK Store Calendar for December does not mention any sales : http://www.flickr.com/photos/hmillington/4130923759/sizes/l/ there may be some in January.
-
no, but then I don't need that set. I did need the Fighter Plane Attack set and I was waiting for a sale of this kind to get it, because it wasn't worth the rrp. :p
-
what are you talking about ... Argos' original prices are virtually the same as S@H !
-
It'd be a good deal if they actually had any Lego in stock on their website ... 41 of the 42 items they carry are listed as Out Of Stock!! In store is not much better either. I still don't want another Assassin Droid BP, even at £4.99!! ;)
-
On Tesco.com you can use the following code : TD-SHRP It's supposed to get you £10 off any Lego purchase over £40, however, it will give you £10 off any Lego purchase so long as the total amount of Lego in your basket is over £10! So, you could get some things very cheap! Sadly, this doesn't make the Venator or the Indy Fighter Plane sets cheap enough for me (they're all the current wave sets I need ... which Tesco sell). Still go deal if you want something smaller.
