  1. Comedy genius! Surely there are enough spelling mistakes / grammatical errors in this one post to warrant a warning from the power hungry mods?! ;)
  2. I know that there's no real way to check people ages ... but then there's no way to test someone's maturity either :P Nor will age mean more maturity in some cases. I just don't see how you think you'll get a more mature forum by enforcing people to use the shift key or by adding the correct punctuation to a post or by writing at least a certain number of sentences in a reply? If anything, you're just going to get a load of mini-mods correcting other people all the time and people will resent the mods for banning people for minor reasons. I was fully expecting a reply like this ... how dare I question what you've decided, eh ? Maybe you'll ban me too ? Am I not allowed to put across a different opinion on this board now ? I don't expect you to change the rules drastically, but I was hoping you might see that what you're proposing here is a little draconian and it may harm the forum more than benefit it. Anyway, enough from me on this subject ... I'm getting bored.
  3. Those minifigs are great ... I'm really looking forward to getting this set. Question though, on two reviews now (of this set and the Twilight) I see the box says "limited edition" ... how many of the Clone Wars sets are "limited" in this way? And does it just mean that the sets are exclusive to certain stores ?
  4. Once again, you choose to reply to a flippant part of my post rather than the more important bits. Haven't you only got yourself to blame at having a non adult standard forum by letting non adults post ? First you guys oust some long standing members and now this ... so what next ?! Excuse me for not believing that further measures aren't just around the corner.
  5. Here's a suggestion, since you've highlighted the fact that this place is meant for adults, why don't you only allow adults to join ? :P And yes, my post has been interpreted correctly by JimButcher. FBTB has gone down hill since the draconian measures and greater mod interference was brought in. This forum was different but with these new guidelines, it will become less so. If you guys start filtering out terms like "lol" with nonesensical and very long sentences about AIM or whatever the hell they replace it with on FBTB then that will be even worse ... please don't do this!! Still, as I said ... I'm ok with using proper grammar as I do anyway. To me, this new guideline just seems over the top and I suspect the mods will find that they both become more alienated and resented and also overworked. If that's what floats their boats, however, then so be it.
  6. This place is becoming more and more like FBTB every day! ;) There was a similar outcry at rules like this when they were implemented over there. Just seems a bit OTT to me, but hey, I don't run the place - if the Mods want to create more work for themselves then that's their perogative. I shall comply ... but then, I usually construct my sentences properly anyway. Plus I can't abide text speak on forums ... computers have full keyboards for a reason!
  7. this is not new ... I remember Woolworths doing this for the ISD and MTT and Sailbarge sets. In my local Woolies I noticed there was a dirty great big security tag wrapped around the RGS set rather than it being empty. When I bought the larger sets I mentioned earlier you take the empty box to the counter and a fresh complete set is brought out from the back once you've paid.
  8. $50 doesn't seem that bad considering the cheapest I've seen the Brickmaster jeep on Bricklink is $30!!
  9. try reading the thread ? :P These sets all sound a bit expensive to me ... I'll wait for a sale.
  10. good idea ... I would pre-order at £200. At £275 I will simply not buy it ... no matter how much i want it.
  11. Good old PrtSc button ;) Looks ok ... now if only Brickmaster was available in the UK! :(
  12. sorry to drag up an old topic, but I was just wondering if anyone knew when this will be available from S@H ?
  13. I can't imagine that the set is only available for 5 days ... The TRU 3 for 2 offer runs out on the 8th June, but the set will be available without any offers after that date :) I checked in both of my local TRUs and they said they'd be getting the set during the week. I bet they're holding them back till after the deal has run out to prevent profiteering on a mass scale!
  14. i'm no collector of Alpha Team but I saw set 6776 in Woolies today and it was a new one on me ... not sure if this is exciting news or not?!
  15. worryingly, the staff at the Lego brand store in Brighton (UK) had no idea about this set :(
  16. the offer runs out on 5th June
  17. the vote was in an e-mail called " See New LEGO Indiana Jones & Speed Racer Sets, Plus Much More" from Lego S@H I voted Wild West ... as that would be cool :D
  18. £65 in the UK ... hmmm ... seems overpriced to me! I might wait it out and see if it drops in price.
  19. hmmm ... not entirely sure ... about 25 hours probs, all in all :)
  20. Hey ... I supposed this is technically a MOC, but not quite and certainly not part of any theme ... sorry if this is in the wrong forum. Anyway, one of my fave bands, Feeder, is running a competition to make a video for one of their new songs. So, having previously made them in Lego, I decided to do something with that and came up with video. It's obviously by no means a perfect Lego stop animation but as a first foray into this world, I don't think it turned out too bad. 8) With more time, I'd redo some things to make em slicker, but hey, hindsight is a wonderful thing. I hope I win the competition! Comments welcome ...
  21. i really wonder why you bother posting here ??? For me, SW lego is just as good as it has always been ... and the Clone Wars sets won't diminish that. If you don't like what they're doing now, don't buy it. As for price increases ... it's called inflation ... and everything is going up in price, not just Lego. You can't compare 3340 with a battle pack ... 3340 had 3 figures, 3 stands and 3 cards. The Battlepacks have 4 minifigures and a small ship ... you're getting more for the price differential. As for now move tie-ins ... I reckon SW is just as popular now as it's always been ... yes, there isn't mass hype which only the films can bring, but SW merchandise is hardly struggling. :-P
  22. I would think that like most manufacturers, increased costs will be passed onto the consumer ... until such time the consumer decides they can no longer afford it and stops buying the product. Should that happen in the large majority of cases, then the parent company will be forced to find cheaper suppliers or cut back on production and/or overheads. If they can't do that, then they'll most probably go bust ... survival of the fittest and all that.
  23. not wishing to start an economic argument here, but if it weren't for European loans to the US, then the USA would be in an even worse situation than it is now ... not to mention the fact that the US's previous stance on money lending and the subsequent debt crisis which is impacting the world ;-) At the end of the day, if a European is *that* bothered about high prices compared to other places, then they should just either wait for a sale (like I do) or buy goods in the USA and have them shipped over, because even with Import Duty and VAT, it may still be cheaper. If they just sit there and whinge, then more fool them for being a lazy megablocks ...
  24. seriously ... how many times must we have this discussion?!?! Set pricing comparing just on pieces is not really relevant because it does not take into account the size of the pieces, or the cost of production of the pieces Set pricing comparing one geographic region to another (most specifically Europe vs USA) is EXTREMELY complex subject and not just as simple as comparing it 1 to 1 based on exhange rates. If you want to read more, just do a search ... :-)
  25. According to Peeron ... $4,500 ... according to average recent selling price on ebay, £3,500 *wacko*
