[MOD] 42041 B tuning
jgw replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This is a super topic! It is a MOD, but also WIP, put into a nice jacket! This is very fun to read, like you are buying new part for the car. Also a very nice MOD. -

jgw replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
At first sight I tought the same, but later on I saw that under the hood from the bodywork, there is a black arch. And that arch would fit exactly over the gap, so the gap wont be filled. I guess EDIT: Sorry for being so stupid, those arches are for the suspension. Sorry -
[MOC] Ford Focus Second Gen
jgw replied to scynox's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very clever car! Nice to build a "normal" car! I think most of us had the idea to build one, but building a supercar attracts more people. So this model is unique! Btw, can you try to shoot some pictures of the car with normal daylight? That will bring the white-black conbination more to it's own right. Very clever car!- 23 replies

Porsche Pricing & Availability
jgw replied to nerdsforprez's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
One thing we missed all in our thinking proces: doesn't matter how long we discuss if it is overpriced or not, if it is an UCS, Lego is not going to chance the price. And if they call it a UCS, it is a UCS. But if it deserves that name, that's another cook ;-) How long we may complain, Lego isn't going to chance anything. Or they trolled us like bosses and the main model is lava orane with printed pieces and so on. -

Did you take into account that your bonnet is 4 studs high? The mudguards and then 3 studs of bonnet. Maybe that makes sense?- 53 replies

42056 - Porsche Speculation
jgw replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
What I see in this picture, is a modular body! So probably the body is removable, making the naked chassis visible, and changing to another color easier! This thing reveals more and more good things. -
42056 - Porsche Speculation
jgw replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
On that camo you are maybe right, but they just wanted to follow the supercar world. But saying nothing about a set isn't hyping, we made those things up. So we hyped it. No offence, I just try to aply some logic. It's a common saying, said by every grandpa ;-). Funny fact, you are exactly 10 jears older as me(oftopic) -

One thing I want to say. If the Porsche disappoints you, it is probably your own fault. 62 pages of speculating things that were never gonna happen, that sets up a high expectation. My motto for this kind of things is, if you don't expect anything, you won't be disappointed. Simple as that. I think we hyped the Porsche, and not Lego itself. No hate orso, but we can wine and cry till we die, but they aren't going to change anything. You say it got no special suspension, well, they didn't said anything about it, you expected it and got disappointed. I hope this will brighten up some minds, and this topic won't be as stressful to read anymore. Edit PS Ultimate means in my opinion special. Now is this set special in the Technic line or isn't it? It is special indeed. I think that's what Lego tried to clarify. But enough counterstrike from my side, I'm just gonna sit here and wait till the first of June to empty my bankaccount. -

The sentence below that says 1 august for the rest of the shops. If you read what one of the designers said, he said something about that they have developt a new element in the Porsche that they will be using in the next Technic cars. Wonder what it is? The site said first 2700+, but later on they said the original Porsche has 2704 elements, could it mean the Technic Porsche has roundabout 2700 pieces? Just speculating -

Nice truck! I like the combination of balck and chrome, it looks so flawless. Btw, if you remove the "s" from the youtube link, the thumbnail loads in too. -
Effe's MOC Corner
jgw replied to efferman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Interesting way of building. Probably also ypur way of thinking, by wanting the center of gravity as low as possible. A long time I didn't like your building style that much, but the last couple of weeks I begin to like it more and more! Keep it up! -
42056 - Porsche Speculation
jgw replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Exactly. You know what I think, is there any set out there that Lego brought out overpriced? It's to early to say it costs to much, we don't know anything apart from the weight and the outside. Something has to make the price high, think of: -expensive or new parts (rims, panels) -licenses (it is a fairly new Porsche) -PF (which I doubt) -manhours (we've all seen that this set is huge. It is wellshaped and boy look at the mechanics. Think of the time MOCers take for their builds, multiply by 4 to 10, tadaa, lots and lots of manhours. -

[HELP] Small extending boom
jgw replied to jgw's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks for such a fast reply, but i think it is not what I'm looking for. I guess I was not clear enough in my post, but I need the base boom to be 3x3. I will edit it. -
Hey guys, Last days I've really been struggling. The problem is an extending boom. It needs to be as small as possible, like the base boom 3x3 max. I know it is fairly simple, but I could nothing make to work. I looked at the actros outtriggers, but that thing is ugly red, which doesn't fit at all in my Scania. So, if possible, could someone share ideas for a boom with: -1 stage extending, 3 studs minimal, -as small as possible, the base boom max. 3x3 -black or lbg -optional, worm gear driven, or the driveshat alligned with the boom Many thanks!

[WIP] Bowler Defender
jgw replied to Epic Technic's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I agree to just try to set the bonnet 1 stud back. If I'm right, the grille stickas a litte out of the front, so you would see a little curve. Not sure if I'm rigt, but just try it!- 53 replies
