  1. I took the liberty to crop the image to the required 100x100 avatar size for you:
  2. I think the same as before, discuss with your team each week who will be building and then post your topic just like normal when it's your turn. Only now, we can have 2 people building instead of one.
  3. I keep forgetting about this thread, which is a true shame since it has so much potential. So, let's kick off 2018 with some fresh Lego memes! And my experience with various contests
  4. No comments yet? Dang! That's a superb build, small, but detailed and lively. I like the tree and the shore with the irregular water. I think you packed a lot of variety into a relatively small space. Great stuff!
  5. Haha, that's better Neat work! These stormies just can't watch their steps, can they...
  6. Oh, you working for the Empire now?!
  7. How about postponing this week's deadline for a week? I think Christmas might interfere with people's building time somewhat.
  8. I like it! I don't know why, but for some reason the blocky Lego-gore and blood always makes me laugh I think the house is remarkably elaborate for what is pretty much just a background to the scenery, it give of a workshop-esque type of look to me. My only criticism would be that for a Mos Espa building, between the orange roof and the colorful droid, the colors are probably just a tad too busy to remind me of Mos Espa. I think it's mainly the droid, as it has different shades of grey and red and also a bit of yellow. But whatever, it's a neat little build and personally, I never liked Rodians anyway, so carry on.
  9. Thank you, everyone @LucasLaughing that is actually trans-clear, it's indeed just the renderer that made it looking so weird. I had it trans-light blue first, but it also didn't look very good. So I think this is one of the instances were physical Lego clearly beats the Bluerender look.
  10. Marching orders: we move 3 squares up, please. Our preferred movement keeps going right and up. My first digital-only entry in this game. Don't worry, I'll go physical and comic book-style again the next time! Cody Startale and his Rebel comrade Lt. Alia Brynna have crash-landed on Endor. How they ended up on the planet's surface will be told in the near future in another free-build... for now, all we know is that our heroes are stranded on the Sanctuary Moon, cut off from their Rebel allies and fearing the detection by the Imperial forces crawling all over the moon. However, as they leave the crash side, Alia detects a near-field comm signal that is familiar to her from the days of her recruitment: @MKJoshA seems to be on the moon as well, and as Cody and Alia have spotted the shield generator when going down on Endor, they figure that a Rebel attack on the base is imminent. Not daring to signal their friends out of fear of being detected by the Imperials, they cross the plains of Endor, heading for the forest in which the shield generator is located. There, they hope to meet up with the other Rebel forces and aid them in their important mission before it is too late...
  11. Thank you people for your kind words Yeah, I have some plans in place right now for the plot. @LucasLaughing, looking forward to it!
  12. A random thought that occurred to me today: are there, possibly for NE 2.0, any plans to maybe balance teams out in terms of newcomers? Maybe I am wrong since I didn't check exact numbers, but I have that constant feeling that there are more active builders in the Imperial faction than the Rebel one, with new members registered to the Empire all the time. Now I wouldn't suggest that people shouldn't be allowed to chose their preferred team, but online videogames will often prevent you from entering a crowded team for balancing reasons until the odds are more evened out again.
  13. Now I'm trying to come up with ideas on how to incorporate ice cube trays into future builds I'm thinking of some kind of carbonite freezing facility...
  14. There are not supposed to be multiple entries. Each team is supposed to choose, together, which MOC should be posted in each respective week. That's what the private messenging ist supposed to take care of, so that you can talk it out and decide who will be building next and which MOCs to save for later for a different terrain, for example So, one MOC per team and week. Make sure to speak with your teammates before making rushed decisions!
  15. Very good work! The base looks organic and authentic, I really like it! Naturally, I must advise your troops to stay away from the Rebels' side of the map, since we will obviously have to gun you all down if you come in sight.
  16. Fantastic, I love it! At the very first glance, I thought the U-Wing was the official one because it looks so authentic. Took me a second look to recognize it's custom, but I love the violet color scheme, it's amazing! Great effort and cool shots, overall a sweet scene and I like how you integrated it into the actual plot! Out of sheer curiosity, do the U-Wing wings actually fold out?
  17. Ooh, a medical Star Destroyer! Now that's quite something! I really like this idea, and the execution is very well done. I especially like the bulkier build on top and the red cross at the bottom, cool stuff! The hangar is cool, but a little on the busy side, visually, with the many reflections on the walls. But that's the renderer, there is not much you can do about that. Also, I can relate too much to the Lego absence, I've been through the same phase in recent months (the last freebuild I've posted has been put together about three months ago, it only took me until last friday to find the motivation to shoot everything!). I hope it will get better though, as Episode VIII is only about two weeks away and will certainly spark my interest in the franchise again! To be this close to see another Star Wars movie in theaters... damn, it doesn't get much more magical than that!
  18. Hello there! As I sat the last episode out, I still have to update my story progress to catch up with the events for the new episode, so I'll make way for that now with the release of this new freebuild and the latest part in my ongoing story about Cody Startale. If you like my comic-style narrative, feel free to plow through my previously released chapters for a sense of continuity: Episode 0 – The Introduction Episode XII – Den Of The Dragon XII-I – Sowing The Seed Episode XIII – Quantum Of Sunrise XIII-I - Quite A Mercenary Episode XIV - Day Of The Spectacle Part XIV-I – Welcome To The Rebellion Episode XV – Top Of The Class The last time we saw our protagonists, they were entangled in the ferocious sky battle over Coruscant and Prince Xizor's demise seemed mere minutes away... Please judge, and C&C is always very welcome. You will probably see that with this episode, even more focus than usual was on photography and storytelling, so let me know how that worked out.
  19. I'm getting all kinds of feelings by this, mainly positive ones :D Cool entry, I am glad that we get to see the control room in its entirety. Most impressive work with the detailed ceiling, and I didn't even know that transparent baseplates exist. *makes mental note to bl one later* The photography is excellent as well. The ceiling lights really sell the scene. Great stuff. I've gotta give your entire story arc a complete read again some time.
  20. You guys keep impressing with new and fresh ideas to shake things up for each episode. Brilliant. I'll make sure not to miss out on this one again, it's just too much fun and I'll finally have an opportunity to put my foliage pieces to good use, yay! I would also like to stress how cleverly you solved the duration/deadline discussion for this episode. Don't think this has been gone unnoticed. As always though, I have to hassle you with additional questions It's about the terrains: Here, we have depictions of grassland, water and mountains/rocky terrain. As Endor is known for its woods, does grassland equal forest/woods terrain as well (the Imps are shown next to large trees in the briefing, but the rebels are not)? Or is there a specific "forest terrain" as well where we get to show lush woods and vegetation? Will we get a list of possible terrains or at least a broader sense of what do expect in that terms, something along the lines of "Expect the unexpected" or "You'll get to be creative"? Also, the text in the opening crawl is cut off a little bit at the right side.
  21. That is certainly true and I feel like momentum is an important thing to consider. How about some minor "speed challenges" from time to time? Like, have super-short mini contests where people get 48 hours to build something. Of course, not everybody can spontaneously make way for 48 hours of building, so announce the challenge, say, one or two weeks prior, without telling the topic ahead, though. Just say like "the next speed contest will be held next weekend, starting XX, ending YY", so that people can anticipate it well in advance and plan to make time for it. Then, have the contest start by telling the topic and the rules and from that moment on, people have 48 hours to finish a small vignette or something. That's just some ideas I'm throwing around, though. Another question – after Episode XV, some folks, including myself, expressed their interest in participating in other EB roleplay episodes with guest builds, for Historica and such. Are there updates on this and is there a rough timeframe for when we can expect this to happen (like, is it likely that something like that might take place this year or is 2018 a more likely candidate)? Just curious!
  22. I can only speak for myself, I wanted to enter the episode but halfway through my build, life got in the way and robbed me of the last precious week of freetime before the deadline. So I decided not to strain the deadline with some shady last minute maneuvers, but cancel my participation. I don't know about everyone else, but the last episode ended mid-june which was right in summer, and this episode was right in between a change of seasons. Vacations tend to be had or end at that time, kids go back to school, regular life basically returns from a summer vacation. For me, Lego building didn't return since June; I put my Legos away for the summer when I had guests over and never bothered getting them out again until well into this episode. It seems to me that our best builders, like LL or goatman for example, build regularly and have at least a little bit of Lego stuff as part of their standard freetime activity (please correct me if wrong). They are "always ready" to build, so to say. I for one, even though I think about Lego a lot and browse EB regularly, do not actually mess with Lego all that much on a regular base. I have to get it out when I do something, maybe even leave it out for days or weeks at a time, but put it away again afterwards (usually around the time my girlfriend starts to get really angry with the mess I tend to leave). So what I think I am trying to say is, it was harder to dive back into some ambitious building after not having touched my bricks for almost three months. It feels like myself (and an alarmingly high number of others) never really returned from a summer break we all took between these last two episodes. Now I am not suggesting that episodes should start popping up every month, because that would probably overwhelm even the most dedicated folks around here. But maybe we could have like smaller, quicker vignette-esque challenges between episodes to "ease" people back into building after a period of taking a break from it? To get them back to sitting down with their Legos again, especially when it requires me to invest an evening or two of building something small than to dedicate myself a whole month to something big? And I know that this is actually what freebuilds are for, but giving people a little initiative wouldn't be such a bad idea, I suppose.
  23. I love how the hangar floor alone is pretty much a work of art. The TIE is pretty fantastic of course and I like the color scheme. For my personal taste, I do not dig the sharply angled panels too much, design-wise, but it makes sense in the context of the plot. Great stuff!
  24. Still story that I couldn't participate, but I love how this episode is getting more exciting after the deadline has passed. Bring it on, guys! Meanwhile, let me hop over into Empire at War to simulate the battle scenario and predict the likely outcome of this confrontation...
  25. Great stuff! It reminds me of the Clone Wars Republic Fighter Tank, shape-wise, which is a cool thing and very Star Wars-looking. Also, it looks a little bit like the ships from the upcoming Battlefront II game as well. Awesome work!
