Thanks for the suggestion, I will give it a read. I always like when fans incorporate the lore into their efforts!

Love it. The build itself is very well done, and the photography is top notch. The narrative is both intruiging and extremely well executed; I like that you interpret Valonˋs coding as his art form. I always thought it was a bit too simplistic to link anything and anyone having to do with Thrawn to actual artistic stuff, as if all his enemies were well into arts when in reality, there is a good chance that in times of war a hobby like that would take a major backseat to most individuals. So you expanded the ideas of Thrawnˋs philosophies into a broader sense of cultural and intellectual context, which I like very much and would have been my approach for this contest as well. Great stuff, I am looking forward to seeing more of your builds. Besides, who is Commander Vanto? I feel like I should be knowing the person, but I do not remember right now.

Amazing! Quite a unique spin on the story and that Imperial spider vehicle is pretty awesome, too!

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here

Because the ugly visual style of the series needs an ugly stormtrooper design that fits its theme. -
Excuse my wording, but: that is the tits. Love everything about it, especially that color scheme. Slap some unnecessary flick shooters on there, and you've got yourself a perfect 50-bucks playset. Damn, it's so sexy.

Episode XV: Operation Eclipse
Cody Startale replied to LucasLaughing's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Wow! I am delighted to see that my build scored this high, I really didn't expect that. Thanks to the team and every player who participated, this episode was a pure blast. And special thanks to those who joined from another subforum, it was so great to see you participate as guests! I think this was my favorite episode so far, it was so much fun. And congratulations to the Empire, your victory was well deserved! Fantastic entries all around in your faction! -
Very well done. I think we may already have a winner here.

Great scene and a very nice build! It's really cool to look at and I like how you created individual bounty hunters. The build itself has lots of texture and and great colorful patterns. Very well done! -

Maybe for future episodes, the team can embed a countdown clock? http://www.secondapps.com/countdown That way, we can have an exact countdown on when the episode will end. That should help avoiding confusion with the deadlines. -

It's a close call, but I'll go with Old Han Solo. I really, really dislike his stupid grin, but the torso and leg print are just so appealing and that's what places him in front of Kylo Ren. The latter has a great helmet mold and a short cape as well as great expressions, but the torso print and legs are just not very intruiging, as is his whole outfit in TFA. That's my headcanon name for him now. Also considering Froggy McFrogface.- 657 replies

[SoNE Ep. XV] Sewers - Patrol Six
Cody Startale replied to mediumsnowman's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Indeed, thanks for your participation! I really like the build, it's compact and detailed and features a nice narrative with very good character posing. I totally see this taking place down in the sewers, which is a great thing. I especially like that you cared to make your Black Sun thugs unique and recognizable, the one with Cad Bane's face looks very impressive. Poor Rebels, though... -
[SoNE Ep.XV] Palace - No Prisoners
Cody Startale replied to Merc4Hire's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
This might be one of my favorite smaller builds yet. It is reasonably sized, but still full of cool details. The floor structure, the walls and doorways and also the unusual color scheme, I think the build benefits from it all. Also, these sculptures (?) look intruiging. For a "rushed" build, this is really a thing of beauty and, unfortunately, another excellent addition to the Imperial gallery. What's it with you guys, anyway? You're on fire this time. Not what I usually expect from a bunch of Stormies.- 5 replies

[SoNE Ep. XV] Skyhook – Top of the Class
Cody Startale replied to Cody Startale's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Thank you all for the positive words! I am aware that I was pretty much stretching the rules with this entry, but I just didn't know how to show a somewhat authentic space battle (or space scenes themselves) without some serious compositing. But that's also why I made sure to include a big physical portion with the part of the hull to feature prominently in the build, so that the edited stuff is only background decoration and the main actions are taking place at an actual build instead. So I hope everyone is okay with the end result. And yeah, that video was a lot of fun. After having played through Shadows of the Empire in preparation for this episode, I thought it would be such a nice and classic Star Wars thing to do as a setup, like before you get to play a mission in a new level, you would see an opening crawl and a cut scene and it gets you all excited Good catch, Beltar, the Resistance helmet is indeed not too EVA-fit But I needed something that looked Star Wars-y and also allowed to see Cody's face, so there's that... A few things I learned from this episode: Building small rather than big, especially if you have limited resources, can be very satisfying. Mini- and medi-builds still allow for an unexpected level of detail and creativity. There's so many versatile parts you can put to great use even in this small scale. X-Wings and TIE Fighters are still, and probably always will be, the greatest starfighters in the Star Wars universe. I might actually like the shape of the Outrider more than the Millennium Falcon itself. Greebling can take a lot of time.- 7 replies

[SoNE Ep. XV] Skyhook - Fire in the Sky
Cody Startale replied to Commander Beltar's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
That is massive, and impressive to no end. As LL pointed out, the full potential of digital building and a great show of what can be done with enough time, skill and dedication. You went all out on this build, and it shows. The result looks very, very Star Wars to me, together with a cool narrative and a lot of great details, like fighters burning, exploding and crashing, the fleet in hyperspace or the escape pods leaving the burning ship. Just brilliant. And it's nice to see another Outrider, the plot really called for that one, didn't it? I can't shake the feeling that the Empire will have the upper hand in this episode, and with builds like this, rightfully so. -
[SoNE Ep. XV] Skyhook: Battle in the Skies of Coruscant
Cody Startale replied to MKJoshA's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Awesome builds! That A-Wing squadron looks impressive, a beautiful color scheme, almost makes me want to see this in the movies sometime! The Viper of course and the extraction ship as well look great, too. I think you did a good job with the weird shape of those Black Sun fighters, I think it was hard to capture that? I think my favorite detail might be the doors on the vehicle that slide open sideways like on a U-Wing. For some reason, I really dig that function. Also, a nice narrative, good way to incorporate your previous story in the action of this episode's events! Now I am curious to see how Josh got out of there, so make sure not to take too long with that freebuild It's funny, but I am exactly in the same boat as LL and you: besides the freebuild I put up two weeks ago, I actually meant to feature yet another one right before this episode, only time wouldn't allow it. So I, too, will have to create an extra freebuild that chronologically takes place before Episode XV, ha ha. -
[SoNE Ep XV] - Sewers - In through the out flow
Cody Startale replied to LucasLaughing's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
As always, an outstanding build. I think I am most impressed by using the rail tracks as a base for the round shape, that alone sets it apart from like 90% of all builds that use more conventional shapes. I also really dig that probe droid, it's a simple, tiny and clever build and the unusually light color scheme sets it apart from your usual probes. The photography and setup with light, etc., are superb as well and make it really enjoyable to look through your images. If I were to voice any criticism at all, it would be that the sewer water itself used too many studs. The whirly color shape is a brilliant touch and I wonder if it wouldn't benefit the build if a layer of studless trans-tiles were on top of it, so that the color is retained. But nevertheless, a fantastic job and sure to score some serious points for the Empire, which would be the only thing that I cannot feel too much joy about. ;) -
Tiny and detailed, I like it! It seems like you were limited by the pieces you had available for pipes and railings and such, and I think you did a good job incorporating what you had into the build. The leakage with the water stream is a great detail right there. If anything, I would say that for a run-down sewer, it's a little too colorful and might have benefited from less random sand and red pieces, but maybe that's just me. All around, good job! The action in your narrative might benefit from a more dynamic photography, even with a small build like that, you can actually go for more creative and bold camera angles to compliment the action more. Also, I like that you incorporated the masked guy from the new minifig series, I think it's a great minifig.

[SoNE Ep. XV - Black Sun ] Sewers - Low battery
Cody Startale replied to Professor Thaum's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
That's a glorious build and there's a lot going on so that you can't even catch everything at once. The stone and rock surfaces are very well done and there's a lot of neat details, like the Dianoga (my personal favorite since it is also featured in the videogame) or the blind snake. Very well done and great rendering as well. I think digital builds always profit greatly from a more capable renderer than LDD, it just looks that much better and is simply more appealing to look at.
