  1. My favorite part of this toy is it’s a good toy; a neat looking toy. I like this toy.
  2. Here's hoping the $40 set with 202 pieces is minifig heavy like the Ninjago Gamers Market and not just a terrible ppp ratio. That would certainly be exciting.
  3. It’s like a link for tank track, not like roller coaster track; if you look at the picture with the closeup of the kid looking at the ice cream shop it’s in the bottom right in light blay on either side of the column as decoration.
  4. This looks fantastic. I’m really curious what other sets some of these new parts, like what’s obviously a really rugged looking track piece, are going to show up in.
  5. Look terrific. I love the scale you've built it at, its perfect!
  6. If this is a Lego store I'd call ahead and ask them to find one and set it aside. I'm sure they'd be willing to. If not all the other ideas seem great.
  7. I'd be ok with minimal downgrade in quality if that were the case. It could also be just a batch issue, or a production adaptation to keep things moving as they relate to covid related shutdowns, or it could just be in my head as I'm usually building late in the day when my mind is all but fried. That's nice of your family. I had the same hesitations about the pink but it is better in person. I have been building differently to make things interesting, not rotating sets, etc. I just hope they put the stickers on well.
  8. I finally finished DA (sans stickers) and boy was it a great build. So many techniques I can see uses for in other themes and builds. Did anyone else notice any issues with quality or color? I feel like some of the pieces were more transparent than typical. I noticed light through the plastic on some dark red headlight bricks and through some of the new doors. It may have just been the light I was building with but the look and feel of a few pieces felt lower quality than usual. As an aside I also found a Hogwarts D2C set used for $250 locally and I'm hoping I'm making the right choice getting it despite its microscale nature. HP bias aside is it a good build or monotonous?
  9. I called my local store in a mall to find out if I was able to get there tomorrow if they would be able to run me out a set since I’ll be watching kids and I won’t take them in to the mall. They said they probably couldn’t and only had two sets left. My wife had to run over to her families to β€˜help with something’. Shows up an hour and a half later with Diagon Alley! I’m through the first two bags already and it’s so much more than was easily visible from photos. There are already 7 new wand boxes and four sets of wands! Also, I believe there is an error in the set where a light blue grey inverted 1x2 slope has been replaced with a scroll brick (so someone else doesn’t spend ten minutes searching for it like I did.)
  10. Not that I know of but I'm hoping if I ask really nicely I can figure out something. I doubt they will as it is probably seriously against protocol and I totally understand but I have to try. I'll also be good and only buy one to start so others have a chance early.
  11. I am having the same problem. Not sure if iphone security issues or something else. Unrelated I'm really hoping I can get put on a list for my local Lego store to get a set tomorrow. I also am trying not to spoil the surprise for the last box for myself but I think that's already happened. I know too much.
  12. It currently just takes you to the countdown page.
  13. I don't particularly care for the pink but it's the pallet Lego is working with and easy enough to change when I get there. My biggest problem is that I'm afraid I might be a little girl because I love ice cream and love potions (although the love potion my wife uses on me is usually bourbon.) Is there any way to find out for sure if I'm a little girl instead of a grown man or is the ice cream pretty much the determining factor? Oh, I also occasionally wear pink dress shirts, so probably definitely a girl.
  14. Messing with some more buildings for DA while we wait. Eeylops WIP. Not a lot of pieces come in lavender; or not enough anyway.
  15. I'm a little surprised it is on baseplates as opposed to 16x16 plates but I'm indifferent. Looks like building heights are an average of about 23 bricks high but hard to tell from images. All my thoughts are pretty much echoed by others. Excited about the prospect to MOC more buildings and alley and make it fully modular-standard (or at least see what other do with it). Probably color swap pink for olive green and WWW lavender for light stone grey.
  16. I wonder if any of this has to do with getting sets (both CMF (less likely) and DA) shipped out to reviewers and giving them time to build and review so that they can run concurrent with reveal. I seem to recall this being done in the past but can't put my finger on particular releases.
  17. Lego: "The new Harry Potter Minifigures are here! Available from September." Who wants to tell them?
  18. I asked my wife (who got me on to HP) and she said Gringotts, Leaky Cauldron, and Olivander's were the first three she thought of.
  19. Come join me on the conjecture train, and excuse my American Imperial dimensions. A 40" wide by 5" deep baseplate is (4) 32x16 stud baseplates or (8) 16x16 stud plates linear. Using Pet Shop 10218 as reference that set is roughly 2000 pcs and 10" wide by 10" deep. So each side is 5" wide x 10" deep x 10.5" high and about 1000 pcs. So I'm guessing we're getting (4) 16x32 baseplates (or plates) with each one having an open backed 2 story building with an additional marginally habitable loft space under the roof on the third floor and 1000 pcs each with the remaining 1000 pcs being for small 1x1 tiles and floor pieces. So basically 4 pet shops together sideways. I think each buildings footprint will be similar allowing second and third floors to be interchanged. I'm hoping they don't include 2-4 studs infront of the building faces for cobblestone alley because while it would add to display it would detract from interior details and useability. I also think this set is going to sell like hotcakes despite the hefty price tag because everyones' modular streetscapes are going to include the modular design. I also think the modular design may afford them to start doing one Hogwarts add-on and one DA add-on set a wave or just DA add-ons as they run out of Hogwarts sets. (FYI, in the time it took me to type this there were 7 new posts and there hasn't even been a reveal. It's going to be madness)
  20. I mean, Warner Brothers owns both TT games and Portkey Games so that'd be cool if hints at new sets started leaking out in other locations like games.
  21. Here you go. It has everything you need! https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/diagon-alley-40289
  22. I'm with you in that I don't think Gringott's will be included and may be a stand alone set or 2nd year D2C with Gringott's and a couple other shops. This is all based on seeing some images of a leaked sticker sheet. I'll hold off on feeling any way in particular until a full reveal. That said, wouldn't it be crazy if like, there was a way to build with like bricks or something any inclusion you'd like to see that was omitted. If only. Large D2C sets are some of the best value sets out there assuming you have the stacks to drop on them so its not like the set is going to be a ripoff regardless of what is included.
  23. I would like to MOC a minifig scale neocallic space rover. The rover would be big however (64 x 32 studs or so) and have 6 tires. I’d like it to be remote controlled and go forward/reverse and be able to turn. Which technic sets would help in this indeavor? I was looking at the 6x6 although I already have all the PF but theXL motor. Or I was looking at the Claas for the red rimmed wheels. Should I do PF, powered up, or something else?
  24. If the video is true to scale that is much larger than a minifigure. If you slow it down it certainly looks like it is sitting on a 2x2 printed brick with a 2x2 round plate below and a 2x2 square tile top w/ masonry bricks on either side that don't quite make sense in terms of stud spacing. Very bizarre indeed.
  25. Terrific review and terrific set. I noticed that parts the Harumi figure in my set fluoresced under uv light. I believe it was left leg, torso, and right arm. I don't recall this color being noted as fluorescing before and it looked pretty cool. I'm wondering if anyone else could/has tried this to see if any/some/all parts glow. I feel like I've noticed this before with other 'non-fluorescing' colors on mini figures but I don't think it was this color. Perhaps red as I've seen before, or another opaque color I'm not remembering.
